The Witch of Chains

Chapter 9 · 3,450 words

The city of Elaris glimmered with towers of silver and sapphire, a jewel of magic and learning. Wizards and mages walked the streets freely, their staffs glowing with arcane energy. But in the hidden alleys, rumors spoke of a witch whose power could bind magic itself — a sorceress feared even by the most ambitious archmages.

Her name was Selene Duskmourn.

[Potential Executioner Detected: Selene Duskmourn – Title: “The Chainbound.”]

[Evaluation: Loyalty Achieved Through Domination and Respect.]

Sonar approached with Veyra, Nyssara, and Korrak. Xyrris, Draven, Kaelen, and Seraphis waited at the city’s outskirts, ready to unleash havoc if needed.

“Chains of flesh and soul,” Veyra murmured. “This one is dangerous. She does not fight to kill… she fights to dominate.”

Sonar smiled faintly. “And domination is exactly what I teach.”

The witch’s lair was hidden beneath the Academy of Arcane Arts, a place no mortal had entered without permission. Selene’s chains — arcane and unbreakable — wrapped around spectral figures, binding them mid-motion, their glowing runes flickering in obedience.

Selene herself stood at the center, eyes like molten silver, lips pressed into a cold line. “Who dares intrude?” she asked. Her voice was calm, measured — but every syllable carried authority.

Sonar stepped into the circle of glowing chains. “I am Sonar Von Draconia. I have come for you, Selene Duskmourn. Your talents are wasted here, bound by fear and guild rules. I offer freedom — and purpose.”

She laughed softly. “Freedom? I am already free. Chains bow to no one, not even kings. And as for purpose… I create purpose for myself.”

“Then test me,” Sonar said. “Break me. If you can dominate me, I will kneel. If not, you will serve — not as a slave, but as the hand that bends all magic to my empire.”

Her silver eyes glimmered with challenge. In an instant, chains erupted from the ground, spinning around Sonar like living serpents. Magic warped, arcs of energy twisting to ensnare him.

He laughed softly. Black fire surged, cutting through the chains like obsidian knives. Each movement, calculated. Each counter, precise. Selene’s attacks met only shadows.

“You are… strong,” she said, intrigued. “Stronger than I anticipated. Few can move with such control under my bindings.”

Sonar’s voice was calm, almost seductive in its precision. “Strength is nothing without vision. I offer you the world, witch. Boundless magic, enemies to break, and the freedom to wield chains over kings and mages alike.”

Her eyes flickered. She considered him — this boy who had already tamed beasts, angels, dragons, and demons. Could he truly dominate her?

Finally, after a long silence, Selene smiled. “Very well. I am Selene Duskmourn. My chains, my magic, my mind — all yours to command, Sovereign. Betray me, and I will bind your soul before your empire falls. Serve me, and your enemies’ spells will choke in their throats.”

Sonar extended his hand. She pressed her slender fingers against it.

The Guide System chimed:

[Recruitment Complete: Selene Duskmourn – The Chainbound.]

[Eighth Executioner Acquired.]

Eight shadows now followed Sonar. The empire he envisioned was no longer a dream — it was rising from the shadows, fueled by ruthless ambition, fire, magic, and death.

The Draconic Executioners had grown stronger.

And soon, kingdoms would learn that no spell, sword, or army could stand against them.
