“Take them both out so I can take a look,” An Liang ordered.

“Right away.”

Li Xiaolin brought both watches out and placed them on the glass counter for An Liang to view.

“Miss Liang, if I were to buy a watch for my girlfriend, which one do you think looks better?”

Liang Xue hesitated for a moment but walked over to offer her opinion.

“Want to try it on?” An Liang asked.

Jin Ming gave a cold snort and left ahead of them without a word. Liang Xue watched him go, quietly sighing. The mission to secure investment had clearly failed—but she didn’t blame An Liang. Even without him, she wouldn’t have agreed to Jin Ming’s demands anyway.

An Liang noticed Jin Ming’s reaction and said to Liang Xue, “Sorry, Miss Liang. I didn’t mean to interfere. I just couldn’t stand that kind of sleazy behavior—trying to get a lot with just a little.”

Liang Xue rolled her eyes at An Liang and began taking off the watch, but he stopped her.

“Xiao Li, charge the card.” An Liang handed over his bank card.

Li Xiaolin, good at reading people, could tell An Liang was serious. He took the card without hesitation.

Liang Xue tried to refuse.

“Mr. An, this watch is far too expensive—I can’t accept it.”

As she continued to remove the watch, An Liang held her wrist and stopped her, joking, “Then how about treating me to a meal instead?”

He continued, “I’m curious—what’s the story between you and that Mr. Jin? Mind sharing it?”

Liang Xue blushed slightly and stopped taking off the watch, but gently pulled her wrist away from his grasp. She made up her mind to treat An Liang to dinner—and then find a way to return the watch.

“Where would you like to eat, Mr. An?” She asked.

An Liang replied, “I’m not familiar with Shanghai—you choose.”
