Chapter 966: Chapter 966: Uninvited Guest
"Them..." Yuwen Xiangyuâs expression changed, her face showing a hint of worry as she asked.
Tang Fengxiao glanced at their wounds and said, "These bite marks were left by giant wolves. This means these people were caught by the wolves! Letâs keep moving forward!"
They walked for more than ten minutes under the night sky when suddenly the heavens grew darker, and the clouds began rumbling with bursts of thunder.
"Looks like itâs going to rain!" Looking at the sky, a trace of concern flashed across Yuwen Xiangyuâs face. "Howâs your injury looking now?"
Tang Fengxiaoâs injured arm had stopped bleeding. He eyed the dark sky and said, "We should find a place to take shelter. The environment in Death Valley is peculiar; I worry the rainwater might be toxic."
Tang Fengxiaoâs concern was not unwarranted; the air in Death Valley carried a nauseating scent. If it were to rain, there was a genuine possibility the rainwater might contain toxins.
"Xiao Bai, find us a place to take shelter from the rain quickly!" Yuwen Xiangyu patted the White Leopardâs neck. It shook its head and bolted toward the distant mountainside.
Thunder roared in the clouds, and streaks of ochre-colored lightning tore through the night sky as though trying to rend it apart.
Finally, Xiao Bai found a cave halfway up the mountainside. However, inside the cave was a massive brown bear.
But with a few fireballs from Yuwen Xiangyu, the bear fled in panic, rolling and tumbling as it abandoned its lair.
The bear might have left, but the cave retained the bearâs overpowering, unpleasant odor.
Yuwen Xiangyu wrinkled her nose involuntarily. As a girl who treasured beauty, she would never choose to spend the night in such a place unless absolutely necessary.
Soon after they entered the cave, it began to rain outside. The torrential downpour struck the leaves and grass, creating a strangely harmonious symphony.
Tang Fengxiao pulled out a small medicine bottle from his pocket. "This is deodorant powder; sprinkle it around, and itâll eliminate the smell."
Yuwen Xiangyu was delighted, quickly taking the powder and scattering it around. Sure enough, as the powder was spread, the strange stench left by the bear all but vanished.
"This is truly amazing stuff!" Yuwen Xiangyu handed the remaining powder back to Tang Fengxiao. "I didnât expect you to be like Doraemon, carrying so many incredible items around."
Tang Fengxiao smiled faintly, "Itâs just a small trick."
Yuwen Xiangyu snorted, "Say one nice thing about you, and you act all puffed up."
Gathering some dry grass, Yuwen Xiangyu waved her hand, and a blazing fire appeared inside the cave. The warmth from the flames drove away the chill within.
"Howâs your injury holding up?" In the flickering light of the fire, Yuwen Xiangyu saw Tang Fengxiaoâs arm, still stained red with blood, and couldnât help but ask.
Tang Fengxiao shook his head. "Itâs not a big problem. Thanks to the medicinal powder, the bleeding has stopped. Itâll be fine by tomorrow."
Yuwen Xiangyu pursed her lips. "Let me clean the wound for you anyway; it needs to be re-bandaged."
Before Tang Fengxiao could refuse, Yuwen Xiangyu had already crouched beside him and begun tending to his injury.
The faint fragrance wafting from Yuwen Xiangyuâs body caused Tang Fengxiaoâs lips to twitch slightly; he chose not to resist.
Clearly inexperienced at dressing wounds, Yuwen Xiangyu took a full half-hour to clean and rewrap Tang Fengxiaoâs injury.
Looking at the ribbon-like knot she had tied around his arm, Tang Fengxiao couldnât help but smile wryly. It was indeed full of girlish charm.
After the bandaging, the two of them sat by the fire, staring at the roaring flames. The sound of relentless rain hitting the earth outside created an odd silence between them.
"Hey, do you think my master will be able to find us?" Yuwen Xiangyu hugged her knees, a faint look of melancholy crossing her face.
Though she held unwavering confidence in her masterâs abilities, the thought of facing the Red-eyed White Tiger that had even defeated Brownâs leader left her troubled.
Tang Fengxiao sighed and gently patted Yuwen Xiangyuâs shoulder. "Donât worry. The Dark Night Chief is strong and resourceful. Even if... even if they canât beat the Red-eyed White Tiger, theyâll face no serious danger."
Suddenly, Yuwen Xiangyuâs body collapsed softly against Tang Fengxiao.
"Whatâs wrong?" Tang Fengxiao froze, startled. He hadnât intended to take advantage of the situation.
"So cold... I feel so cold!" Yuwen Xiangyu shivered as her body trembled violently.
Tang Fengxiao grew alarmed and immediately supported her. "Hey, hey, Yuwen Xiangyu, whatâs wrong... so cold!"
Touching Yuwen Xiangyuâs arm, Tang Fengxiao felt an icy chill that seemed to pierce to the core from her body.
"Whatâs happening?" Tang Fengxiao was on the verge of panic, sensing an enormous icy aura overwhelming Yuwen Xiangyuâs body.
Even more unsettling was her hair. The snow-white strands were slowly changing, little by little, becoming fiery red.
"Thereâs some sort of powerful energy source inside Yuwen Xiangyu!" Tang Fengxiao furrowed his brow, thinking hard, but ultimately sighed. With her condition something completely foreign to him, he could only stand by helplessly and watch.
Thankfully, as time passed, the aura around Yuwen Xiangyu gradually subsided, allowing Tang Fengxiao to breathe a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, Tang Fengxiaoâs ears perked up. A commotion came from outside the cave.
A low growl. Xiao Bai, who had been standing guard outside, staggered inside, its body smeared with blood. It trembled violently, its fierce eyes glaring at the darkness beyond.
"Xiao Bai, youâre hurt?" Seeing the blood dripping from the White Leopardâs leg, Tang Fengxiao felt his heart sink.
"Haha! Who would have thought there was a cave here? Weâve got some good luckâfinally, we wonât have to get soaked in the rain."
As the voices drew closer, four figures appeared at the mouth of the cave.

"Huh? There are people inside?" Seeing the firelight from within, they called out in surprise: "Is anyone there? Weâd like to come inside to avoid the rain. Is there anyone?"
Tang Fengxiao scanned the cave. There was no other place to hide here, so he quickly pulled out a small amount of powder and scattered it near the entrance.
"Come in," Tang Fengxiao said firmly, shielding Yuwen Xiangyu behind him.
At this point, Tang Fengxiao had no choice but to bluff some confidence. After all, none of the four seemed capable of entering the Demi-God Domain.
"Thank you, young brother!" Hearing Tang Fengxiaoâs reply, the four men gradually stepped inside.
Once they entered, Tang Fengxiao caught a penetrating scent of blood on them.
"Four people. One at Peak Level A, one at Mid-Level A, and two at Initial-Level A. This looks like a precarious situation," Tang Fengxiao thought to himself, feeling a pang of unease.
