Chapter 968: Chapter 968: Repelled
Fifteen minutes later, although he took the pill to stimulate his potential, in terms of actual strength, Tang Fengxiao was still no match for the man known as the group leader.
Thud. When the leaderâs palm struck Tang Fengxiaoâs chest, a mouthful of fresh blood spurted from Tang Fengxiao onto the ground, and his body crashed heavily onto the ground.
"You should know by now that youâre no match for me!" The man sneered faintly. "Iâll give you one more chance. Hand over the antidote, and Iâll let you live!"
"Bah!" Tang Fengxiao spit out a mouthful of bloody saliva and sneered coldly. "Hand over the antidote? Dream on."
The man shook his head. "Then I suppose thereâs no choice. If youâre asking for death, Iâd be glad to grant it."
At that moment, a chilling aura emanated from behind Tang Fengxiao.
"What a big talker. Do you truly think my people are yours to kill?" A cool voice echoed, followed by a graceful figure stepping in front of Tang Fengxiao.
Yuwen Xiangyu? Tang Fengxiao was momentarily stunned, for her current demeanor was vastly different from before. Now, she radiated a palpable chill, her very being akin to an icebound fairy.
The man furrowed his brow as he sensed the icy, biting aura coming from Yuwen Xiangyu. He was somewhat taken aback; her aura had been notably weak earlier, but in less than half an hour, it had surged to Peak-level A-grade.
This complicates matters! The man silently cursed. Yet he didnât panic; while Yuwen Xiangyuâs presence rivaled his own, she was, after all, just a young girl. Her battle experience was nowhere near his level.

Still, if the fight dragged on, it could attract othersâ attention. Moreover, in a place like Death Valley, sustaining serious injuries could spell significant danger.
"I hadnât expected Dark Nightâs disciple would turn out to be a top-tier expert!" The man remarked. "Right now, conflict harms us both, but cooperation benefits us. So, how about we each take a step back?"
Yuwen Xiangyu replied coldly, "What do you mean by âeach taking a step backâ?"
The man proposed, "Iâll let you all go, but I need the antidote."
Yuwen Xiangyu glanced at the three men lying beside her, a cold smirk forming on her face. "You think you can just harm my people and walk away unscathed?"
As soon as her words fell, several ice blades shot up from the ground, piercing through their bodies.
"Boss..." the men looked at the ice blades protruding from their chests and wailed helplessly, "Boss, save us!"
The bossâs eyes narrowed sharply; Yuwen Xiangyuâs swift attack had left him no time to intervene. Could her skill level actually surpass his own?
"Youâre courting death!" The boss took a strong step forward and charged at Yuwen Xiangyu, slamming a palm strike toward her.
With a booming sound, a massive Ice Shield materialized in front of Yuwen Xiangyu. As the bossâs palm struck the shield, it left a deep indent in it, but the shield had successfully blocked his assault.
Hiss. The boss drew in a sharp breath. Through this direct confrontation, he was stunned to find that Yuwen Xiangyuâs skill was firmly superior to his own.
If he continued fighting, there would be no favorable outcome for him. Looking at his three companions, who were fading fast, he clenched his teeth and retreated swiftly: "Hmph, Iâll spare you today. Next time, Iâll settle accounts properly!"
"Where do you think youâre going?" Yuwen Xiangyuâs eyes flared brightly. "Stay here!"
With a wave of her hand, dozens of Ice Arrows appeared mid-air, dropping the cavernâs temperature by several degrees.
"Strike!" With a low shout, Yuwen Xiangyu sent the Ice Arrows whizzing toward the man.
The man twisted in the air with several eerie movements, left behind a harsh threat, and disappeared into the rainy night outside.
"You escaped quickly." Yuwen Xiangyu coldly snorted in the direction of the manâs escape.
Turning back, she saw Tang Fengxiao, pale-faced. "You... Are you okay?"
Tang Fengxiao coughed up traces of blood and smiled faintly, "Iâm fine. Just broke a few ribs, thatâs all. Honestly, I didnât expect your strength to be this immense, able to wield both ice and fire powers simultaneously."
A flash of affection crossed Yuwen Xiangyuâs eyes. She bit her lip and said, "Why are you so foolish? You clearly had a chance to escape earlier! Why didnât you agree to his terms? You knew full well youâre not his match!"
Tang Fengxiao shook his head, "Weâre companions. How could I abandon you in your weakest moment? I may not be as strong as him, but I, Tang Fengxiao, am a manânot a coward."
Yuwen Xiangyu stared at Tang Fengxiao blankly, her face reddening slightly. "Hmph, always trying to show off..."
Moments later, Yuwen Xiangyuâs soft voice came through: "But... thank you."
But Tang Fengxiao didnât hear her wordsâhe had already lost consciousness.
When Tang Fengxiao woke again, he realized his injuries had been treated, and his broken ribs had been rejoined.
"Youâre awake?" This time, Yuwen Xiangyu walked in from outside, smiling as she said, "I just picked some wild fruits and caught a few fish. Eat some fruit first; Iâll make roasted fish for you later."
After experiencing life-and-death together, the sharp words of argument between them receded. Yuwen Xiangyu skillfully roasted a fish and handed it to Tang Fengxiao.
Once they finished eating, the two resumed their journey. After last nightâs downpour, traces of battle and the stench of blood had completely washed away.
An unhidden worry lingered between Yuwen Xiangyuâs brows, as there was no sign of their master, Dark Night.
"Letâs stick to the original plan and head to the rendezvous point," Tang Fengxiao sighed, "Uncle Dark Night is strong. Heâll be fine."
Yuwen Xiangyu turned and glared at Tang Fengxiao angrily, "What did you just call my master?"
"Uncle Dark Night..." Tang Fengxiao muttered.
"Say that again?" Yuwen Xiangyuâs tone already carried a chilling edge.
Tang Fengxiao smirked faintly, "Uncle Dark Night."
Yuwen Xiangyu nodded, "Thatâs better! My master is naturally incredible. Iâm not worried; letâs keep moving. Iâm sure heâs searching for us, too."
Trailing behind Yuwen Xiangyu, Tang Fengxiao shook his head with a wry smile.
A whistling chirp sounded, and Xiao Bai emerged from the forest, crouching before Yuwen Xiangyu.
"Hop on!" Yuwen Xiangyu mounted the White Leopard and beckoned Tang Fengxiao.
Tang Fengxiao instinctively glanced at Xiao Baiâs injured leg but was astonished to find it fully healed. Truly worthy of an Exotic Beastâits regenerative power was remarkable.
