Chapter 980: Chapter 980: Mysterious Creatures of Death Valley
When they arrived at the hospital, Ling Feng saw that Wei Meizi and the others had already rushed over.
"What exactly happened? How is Xiao Rui now?" Ling Feng asked.
Wei Meiziās gaze shifted evasively. "The doctor just finished the examination. Itās just superficial woundsānothing serious!"
Ling Feng frowned. Wei Meiziās demeanor today felt odd, like she was hiding something from him. But for now, Ling Feng didnāt dwell on it and pushed open the ward door to enter.
"Xiao Rui!" Ling Feng saw Yun Hanruiās arm wrapped tightly in bandages. Pain flashed across his eyes. "What exactly happened? How did you end up so badly hurt?"
Yun Hanrui spotted Ling Feng, and a hint of nervousness flashed in her eyes. "Itās nothing, just a small issue in the lab. I got scratched by some equipment at the timeāitās really nothing serious. Donāt worry!"
Ling Feng sat beside Yun Hanrui, slightly exasperated. "How can I not worry? I just returned from abroad and immediately heard this news. Do you understand how much that scared me?"
Yun Hanrui smiled sweetly. "So, I hold quite a significant place in your heart, huh? Thinking this way, it seems like getting hurt this time was worth it!"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Ling Feng replied grumpily. "Iāll go ask the doctor to ensure everything is fine!"
Yun Hanrui grabbed Ling Fengās arm with her other uninjured hand. "Forget it. The doctor already told meājust flesh wounds thatāll heal in a couple of days. At most, there might be some scars. You wouldnāt reject me because of that, would you?"
"Youāre talking nonsense!" Ling Feng flicked Yun Hanruiās forehead lightly. "Since the doctor said so, Iām reassured. Rest well hereāIāll go to Heavenly Medical Hospital to pick up some scar-removal ointment, guaranteed to leave your arm spotless!"
Ling Feng kissed Yun Hanruiās forehead lightly and ruffled her hair before leaving under her smiling gaze.
Hoo! Yun Hanrui let out a relieved breath and gazed at her injured right arm with some frustration. This injury truly couldnāt have come at a worse time!
After leaving the ward, Ling Fengās usually genial expression darkened. Though Yun Hanrui hadnāt explicitly said anything, Ling Feng could tell from her demeanor and actions that there was more to her injury than met the eye and that she didnāt want him to find out.
"What on earth happened here?" Ling Feng exhaled sharply. Though he respected Yun Hanruiās wishes, that didnāt mean he wasnāt deeply concerned.
"Howās the situation?" Wei Meizi and Liu Tingyu asked anxiously once Ling Feng emerged.
"You should go in and see for yourselvesāher complexion looks fine," Ling Feng said with a faint smile. "Iām heading to Heavenly Medical Hospital now. Please take good care of Xiao Rui."
With that, Ling Feng turned and left the hospital, driving toward Heavenly Medical Hospital.
It didnāt take long for Ling Feng to acquire the special ointment from Heavenly Medical Hospital. He handed it over to Liu Tingyu, and then headed straight to the Dragon Group to report on his work.
Since Yun Hanrui wanted to keep things from him, his presence at the hospital would only make her feel uneasy.
Back at the Dragon Group, Ling Feng went to Long Guangyiās office.
"Didnāt expect you to arrive so quickly this time!" Long Guangyi remarked as Ling Feng entered. "How come you didnāt stop by your āgentle villageā today?"
Ling Feng replied lazily, "Whatās the matter? Isnāt prioritizing work the correct way to go about things? If it bothers you, I promise to change in the future!"
Long Guangyi snorted, clearly irritated. "Spare me the lip service. Tang Fengxiao has already sent in the reportāI want to hear your take on this situation."
Ling Feng shrugged. "What else can I say? Honestly, Tang Fengxiao reported exactly what I had in mind. This entire operation was Brownās trap. If we hadnāt been cautious, you might not be seeing us alive right now!"
Long Guangyi tapped the desk rhythmically, giving Ling Feng a sly smile. "Alright, drop the act. There are certain things Tang Fengxiao doesnāt know, and donāt try to play dumb with me. After this mission, Iāll give you a long vacation."
"Really?" Ling Feng eyed Long Guangyi suspiciously, entirely unconvinced.
Ever since being forced to become Long Guangyiās protĆ©gĆ©, Ling Feng had been like a spinning top, rarely getting any rest. Long Guangyi was like an insatiable capitalistāheād never let Ling Feng go until the very last drop of effort was squeezed out.
"Of course." Long Guangyi said calmly. "According to intel, the Atlantis Continent is likely to reappear in two months. If it truly happens, your responsibilities will only grow heavier!"
Ling Feng rolled his eyes. As expected, good things never come without catch. While he knew heād have to go to Atlantis eventually, Long Guangyiās words made it feel more like coercion, which left a sour taste in his mouth.
"This mission was indeed Brownās trap. However, Brown is affiliated with the Hand of Death, and the Red-eyed White Tiger was intended as a mount for Redick." Ling Feng stated flatly.
"What about the Red-eyed White Tiger?" Long Guangyi asked gravely. "Has it truly been subdued by Redick?"
"Unfortunately for Redick, his efforts were in vain. Thatās all I can say." Ling Feng said indifferently. "Iāve completed my mission report, so Iāll be heading out now."
With that, Ling Feng nodded lightly and left Long Guangyiās office.
"That guy..." Long Guangyi shook his head, watching Ling Fengās back and wondering what was on his mind.
Meanwhile, across the ocean at the Hand of Deathās base.
"So youāre saying the Red-eyed White Tiger cultivation plan was an utter failure?" Redickās icy gaze locked onto the Magician as he spoke in a chilling tone. "Not only that, but Brown is dead? My painstakingly embedded agent within the Supernatural Organizationāsacrificed without any value?"
The Magicianās face was pale, her aura exceptionally weak. "Master, itās my incompetence that caused the plan to fail. But I hadnāt foreseen such a formidable entity hiding within Death Valley!"
"Dammit!" Redickās energy surged violently, freezing everyone around him in terror, none daring to utter a word.
Cultivating the Red-eyed White Tiger had been one of Redickās priority projects, which was why heād sent the Magician to support Brown. Unexpectedly, not only had the plan crumbled, but Brown had perished, and the Magician was gravely injured!
"Youāre saying thereās truly such a powerful being in Death Valley?" Redick took a deep breath, suppressing his aura as he asked solemnly. "Even the successfully-advanced Red-eyed White Tiger, along with the two of you, was no match?"
The Magician nodded firmly. "Yes, Master. I have a Memory Crystal here."
With that, the Magician retrieved a Memory Crystal from her cloak. A shocking scene unfolded from the crystalās projection.
Above Death Valley, dark clouds swirled ominously. Yet amidst the clouds was a clear silhouetteāa colossal Western giant dragon engulfed in black flames. Though it was merely a spectral image, everyone present could feel its overwhelming energy and suffocating pressure!
