Chapter 1273: Chapter 1272: Healing
However, Jiete seemed completely indifferent to the words of the Bright Saintess. Instead, he squinted his eyes and said, "I didnāt expect you to have such insight. Who exactly are you, and how could you possibly be in this Crying Ghost Valley?"
"This is the Crying Ghost Valley? Why is it called Crying Ghost Valley?" the Bright Saintess asked in confusion.
Jiete gave the Bright Saintess a suspicious look. "Do you really not know, or are you just playing with me? If you donāt know this place, how did you get here? Could you possibly have lost your way?"
There was a hint of sarcasm in Jieteās words. To him, the Bright Saintess seemed to be deliberately toying with them.
The Bright Saintess shook her head. "I was randomly teleported here by a teleportation array. I didnāt know what this place was before!"
Seeing the honest look on the Bright Saintessā face, Siteli whispered in Jieteās ear, "Jiete, I donāt think this girl is a bad person..."
"Youāre just too kind!" Jiete said in a deep voice. "How could there be good people in Crying Ghost Valley? Donāt forget, this is the Blood Howl City Masterās territory."
The Bright Saintess frowned. "You donāt believe me?"
Jiete let out a cold laugh and said, "Whether we believe you or not is irrelevant. If what you say is true, it only means your luck is terribly bad. You better hope your luck improves so you donāt get caught by those lunatics!"
The Bright Saintess frowned again, and just as she was about to ask further, she heard Jiete suddenly emit a cry of extreme pain.
Clang, the short dagger in his hand fell to the ground, and he kneeled on the ground, trembling all over, his face twisted in agony.
"Jiete, whatās wrong!" Siteli shouted anxiously as she saw Jieteās pained expression. "Your... your wound is worsening, what should we do now!"
Around the wound on Jieteās chest, the blackened flesh was continuously corroding, emitting a foul odor, and it was this corrosion that caused Jiete immense pain.
"Heās made a move!" Jiete said through gritted teeth, cold sweat pouring down his face like water. He said in a low voice, "He activated the corrosive power left in my body, heās always known our position, heās just been toying with us, that damn bastard!"
Siteliās face turned pale. "You mean... Ghost Hand has been following us all along?"
Jiete nodded. "Siteli, you need to leave, leave this place. Iāll stay behind to hold them off! Once youāre out of Crying Ghost Valley, you must live under an alias, otherwise the Blood Howl City Master wonāt spare you!"
"I wonāt leave!" Siteliās eyes turned red. "Without you, whatās the point of living? Iād rather die with you than live alone!"
"You..." A look of affection and love flashed across Jieteās face, mixed with a trace of conflict. "Do you realize that staying with me makes you my burden? If it werenāt for you, I wouldnāt be so gravely injured. Get away from me!"
Watching this scene, the Bright Saintess cleared her throat and said, "Actually... I can dispel the darkness power in your body, but whether you trust me is up to you!"
Upon hearing this, Siteliās face lit up with joy. "Really? Thatās wonderful! Youāre such a kind-hearted girl."
But Jiete said in a deep voice, "State your purpose. Why do you want to save me?"
"Because I can heal your wound, is that reason enough?" the Bright Saintess said with a smiling face. "I mean no harm to you. If you have to say I have a purpose, itās that I hope after I save you both, youāll tell me about the situation here. I was really teleported here and Iām unfamiliar with the surroundings."
Jiete looked into the bright eyes of the Bright Saintess and sighed. "True, what do we have thatās worth coveting now? I was too suspicious earlier. Please, young lady, heal me, and thank you!"
As he spoke, Jiete sat on the ground. Although his wound was still worsening, there was no sign of emotion on his face. Such strength of will was enough to surprise the Bright Saintess.
"Alright, Iāll begin now!" the Bright Saintess said, extending her hand. A pure white ball of light appeared in her palm, casting countless rays into Jieteās body.
Jieteās body quivered, and a look of astonishment appeared in his eyes as he clearly felt the corrosive darkness power in his body rapidly dissipating.
The power emanating from the light ball in the Saintessās hand was warm and full of life.
Meanwhile, tens of kilometers away, a manās face showed surprise. "Merely a little mouse, yet itās dispelling the dark corrosive power I left in him. Did he come up with a way himself, or is he being aided by someone strong?"
"Interesting, truly interesting. I thought this was a dull chase, but I didnāt expect a twist. Thatās what makes it interesting! The more the prey struggles, the more satisfaction it brings to the hunter!" The manās face broke into a smile. "Let me see who dares to rescue the slave that escaped from our Blood Howl Camp!"
As he spoke, the manās figure gradually vanished as if he had never been there, leaving only a small patch of black corrosive land where he used to stand.
Ten minutes later, under Siteliās anxious gaze, the Bright Saintess flipped her hand, and the light ball disappeared. She looked at Jiete and said, "Iāve dispelled the corrosive power in your body; however, youāre still very weak and need some time to rest and recuperate!"
Jiete opened his eyes and looked at the tender flesh growing on his chest, a flash of shock in his eyes. This womanās healing power was incredibly strong!
"Resting? Thatās not realistic!" Jieteās voice had lost its previous chill as he said, "We escaped from Blood Howl Camp, and the person in charge, Ghost Hand, is pursuing us. Our only chance of survival is to escape deeper into Crying Ghost Valley!"
Jiete gazed at the Bright Saintess and said, "I donāt know your name, but Iāll give you a piece of advice: this is not a place to linger. Leave here as soon as you can! You have strong healing powers, and if the people from Blood Howl Camp find you, they wonāt let you off!"
The Bright Saintess asked, "You keep mentioning Blood Howl Camp and the Blood Howl City Master, what is that all about? What did you do that makes them hunt you so relentlessly?"
At that moment, a voice came from the top of a giant tree: "I think I can answer that question!"
