Chapter 2017 - 2014: Discussion

Chapter 2017: Chapter 2014: Discussion

"Sect Master Ling, we’ve come uninvited, I hope you won’t mind!" Ximen Tian and the Storm Sect Master called out.

Ling Feng smiled and said, "That’s not necessary, I actually have some matters I’d like to discuss with the two of you, seniors!"

"Ah, initially, I wanted to use the Martial Arts Conference to organize Loose Cultivator experts from the Ancient Ruins, but who would have thought!" Ximen Tian sighed and said, "Who would have thought all of this was calculated by the Master of Heaven’s Gate. If it weren’t for Sect Master Ling’s righteous intervention, our two families might have been completely defeated!"

The Storm Sect Master agreed, saying, "Indeed, which is why we’ve come this time for two main reasons. Firstly, to express our gratitude, and secondly... we want Sect Master Ling to represent us in opposing the Master of Heaven’s Gate!"

Ling Feng laughed. These past few days, he had heard all sorts of rumors, saying that the Sect Master of the White Star Organization is the true chosen of destiny, the real hope for the people of the Ancient Ruins to defeat Heaven’s Gate!

If others heard these words, they might be swept away into fantasy and lose themselves, but Ling Feng knew well that there was certainly a strong force behind this pushing the narrative, aiming to set him up as a sacrificial pawn, no doubt?

If there weren’t the presence of the Ximen Family and Storm Sect behind this, Ling Feng would not believe it at all.

"Oppose the Master of Heaven’s Gate, huh!" Ling Feng furrowed his brows and said, "To be honest, a few days ago, I had a major battle with the Master of Heaven’s Gate, but in the end, I couldn’t hold him down; his strength was entirely equal to mine!"

Ximen Tian and the Storm Sect Master exchanged glances, seeing a hint of surprise in each other’s eyes. Ling Feng truly could stand on equal footing with the Master of Heaven’s Gate! For them, this was both good news and bad news!

The good news was, they finally had someone who could deal with the Master of Heaven’s Gate, because the pressure he exerted on everyone was enormous. He even had the audacity to try and devour everyone on Fiery Cloud Star, and shockingly, he almost succeeded!

However, for them, Ling Feng being too powerful also posed a pressure. If he defeated the Master of Heaven’s Gate, wouldn’t he potentially become another Master of Heaven’s Gate?

"If they both get severely wounded or perish together, that would be the best scenario!" Ximen Tian and the Storm Sect Master’s minds both entertained such a thought.

"Given that Sect Master Ling has the strength to oppose the Master of Heaven’s Gate, it seems the rumors are true, and Sect Master Ling is truly the hope of our Ancient Ruins!" The Storm Sect Master said with a smile, "Ximen Clan Leader and I are planning to create a Defying Heaven Alliance, specifically to oppose Heaven’s Gate, and we hope Sect Master Ling will become the Alliance Hierarch and lead us against Heaven’s Gate!"

Ling Feng’s face was expressionless, but inwardly he laughed; indeed, their true intentions were now exposed. The so-called Alliance Hierarch probably only had one purpose: to act as the vanguard, desperately fighting against the Master of Heaven’s Gate!

"However... this fits my desire!" Ling Feng mused in his heart, because if he became the Alliance Hierarch, he could precisely use this identity to plan some things, like promoting the Heavenly Scroll.

"If it’s about opposing Heaven’s Gate, I don’t have any objections, but I’m worried I may not be able to rally everyone!" Ling Feng hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"There’s no need for Sect Master Ling to worry about that!" the Storm Sect Master assured, "After the incident on Fiery Cloud Star, Sect Master Ling’s prestige in the entire Ancient Ruins is extremely high, not to mention you have the support of both our families! Sect Master Ling ascending to Alliance Hierarch is the wish of all!"

Ling Feng said, "Actually, I have a concern, which you should also be aware of. The Master of Heaven’s Gate advances quickly; as long as he continues to hunt other Pinnacle Azure Sky Realm experts, his strength will steadily increase, but we are different!"

Ling Feng lamented, saying, "We are constrained by resources, perception, and various other conditions, especially at the current level we’ve reached; advancing further is extremely difficult! I’m worried that my abilities might fall short!"

Ximen Tian and the Storm Sect Master exchanged a glance and secretly scoffed, knowing well that half a year ago, Ling Feng was merely at the Mid Sky Realm, at which point he was still being chased and hunted by Storm Sect people. Yet in just half a year, his cultivation advanced immeasurably, to the extent he could contend with the Master of Heaven’s Gate!

This is practically an astonishing speed, perhaps even faster than the Master of Heaven’s Gate’s cultivation pace. Therefore, what Ling Feng described was simply hollow excuses.

"Sect Master Ling jests, if even you cannot deal with it, then who else could be a match for the Master of Heaven’s Gate?" the Storm Sect Master said. "Besides, we trust in Sect Master Ling’s aptitude. If you need anything, whether cultivation techniques or resources, our Storm Sect will fully provide!"

"The Ximen Family is the same!" Ximen Tian followed up, "Sect Master Ling need not worry about cultivation resources either. Our Ximen Family will fully support you; as long as you can suppress the Master of Heaven’s Gate, we’ll meet any of your conditions!"

Ling Feng felt somewhat satisfied, seeing that these two were indeed perceptive; Ling Feng demanded precisely their promises.

Although the White Star Organization is mystical and powerful within the Ancient Ruins, due to its principles, it’s not a wildly extravagant force, so Ling Feng’s assets are somewhat meager.

"Since the two seniors are so insistent, I can’t refuse your kindness, and I’ll take up the role as Alliance Hierarch!" Ling Feng made his expression serious and spoke solemnly, "Heaven’s Gate has severely disrupted the balance of the Ancient Ruins, and the Master of Heaven’s Gate is even more heartless and despicable; we must stop him!"

"Does Sect Master Ling have any method?" Ximen Tian asked.

"Of course I have a method, only I need some resources to assist me! Of course, I’m not going to seize them by force, for I also have a gift for the entire Ancient Ruins!" Ling Feng said with a sly smile.

Ximen Tian was somewhat curious, "What is it?"

"A cultivation technique, it’s quite special, and I need all Ancient Ruins cultivators to practice it in a short timeframe!" Ling Feng said seriously.

"This..." The two seemed hesitant, uncertain about Ling Feng’s intentions.

Naturally, Ling Feng wouldn’t reveal the true effect of the Heavenly Scroll to them, so he deceived them by saying, "This technique is a Mother-Child Skill Method; everyone practices the technique, and at crucial times, I can draw on thirty percent of their forces through the Principal Cultivation Technique, giving me sufficient strength to battle the Master of Heaven’s Gate!"

So that’s it, Ximen Tian and the Storm Sect Master seemed to understand. If this Mother-Child Skill Method was effective, wouldn’t all cultivators in the Ancient Ruins become a source of Energy for Ling Feng?

Thinking along those lines, it’s indeed somewhat terrifying!
