While Evan remained bound and unconscious inside the factory, outside, someone was already moving with purposeâsomeone who never played by the rules.
{
Rey's POV
}
âHey, where are you going? Isnât the entrance over there?â a familiar voice rang out in my mind as I circled to the back of the old facility.
I sighed. âCanât you keep quiet for one damn minute, Aiden? Iâm taking the same route I used back then... when I dragged your whining spirit out of this dump.â
Aidenâmy uninvited companion. A spirit I picked up by accident, or so I thought. Turns out, he wasnât just any spirit. He claimed to be a
god relic
, once wielded by a
God King
âyeah,
the
God King, one who supposedly ruled above all others.
Still hard to believe something that powerful ended up in a backwater world like ours.
âOhhh~ now I remember this path,â Aiden hummed, floating around me like an annoying halo. âHurry up, we donât have time. We need to get to
Zero
before someone else does.â
Zero. He always talked about her like she was some kind of treasure. Like the entire world would fall apart if she landed in the wrong hands.
âCan I just askâwho exactly is she that youâre so damn obsessed with?â I muttered, glancing around cautiously. âYou keep acting like if someone else gets her, all hell breaks loose.â
â
Donât
think of her like some normal relic, kid,â Aiden said, his tone turning serious. âSheâs the pinnacle of creationâgreater than me, greater than any relic ever made. The purest form of power itself.â
I scoffed. âRight. If sheâs so powerful, then why did your last host
die
?â
Aiden paused for a moment before brushing it off. âTch, I canât remember the details. Anyway, quit with the questions. Just know sheâs the real deal.â
I rolled my eyes and dropped the heavy suitcase Iâd been carrying. âFine, enough chit-chat. Should I wear those things now, or later?â
âPut them on. Weâre going in,â Aiden instructed.
I popped open the case and geared upâarmor plates, embedded guard tags, and finally, a long coat for flair. Gotta admit, it looked slick.
âSo? How do I look?â I smirked.
âThe outfitâs sharp,â Aiden replied with a chuckle. âToo bad itâs being worn by a total donkey.â
I clicked my tongue. âOne more word and Iâll throw you in a blender. Now quiet down. I need to concentrate if Iâm gonna sneak in and steal your damn âultimate relicâ.â
âAlright, alright... but what if I told you I had a
better
idea?â Aiden said, floating beside me like a devilish whisper.
I squinted at the guards patrolling near the main building. âBetter idea how?â
He grinned. âTime for a little... cake-cutting.â
âWhat the hell are youââ But before I could finish, my body seized up. I lost control. My vision darkened, and I felt myself
sinking
into the void.
I tried calling out, but no answer came.
When light finally returned, I wasnât in the factory anymore. I stood in a sterile, white room, boxed in by seamless walls. There were no doors, no windowsânothing.
I ran my hands across the surface and finally felt somethingâa hidden handle. Smooth and cold, camouflaged perfectly into the wall. If not for touch, Iâd have missed it.
I yanked it.
Nothing.
Again. Still nothing.
Over and over, until my arms grew numb.
And just when I was about to give up, it clickedâand the door burst open.
But instead of light, it revealed a swirling black void that yanked me in like a vacuum.
In the blink of an eye, I found myself back in reality.
My breath hitched.
Aiden stood there, stretching like heâd just returned from yoga. âYouâre back. Good timing.â
I gritted my teeth. âWhat
was
that?â
âNothing serious. Just borrowed your body for a bit. Had to sneak us inside.â
I looked around. Sure enough, we were in. Just outside a window that had been busted open.
âWhat happened to the guard that was stationed here?â I asked.
âRelax. I put him in a... permanent nap. Sweet dreams and all.â
That answer gave me chills, but I didnât push it. I knew better than to dig too deep with Aiden.
âLetâs go before anyone spots us,â I said, carefully climbing in through the window, mindful of the broken glass.
{
End of POV
}
Somewhere not too far from where Rey and Aiden infiltrated, several figures lay motionless on the ground.
To the average eye, they seemed merely unconscious.
But a closer look revealed the truth.
Blood. Red. Fresh. Soaking into the soil.
They werenât asleep. They were dead.
Aidenâs doing? Most likely.
But the real question remainedâ
what
exactly was Aiden? A divine relic? A ghost? Or something far more ancient?
Only time will tell...
Meanwhile, deep within the bowels of the factory...
In a dark corner,
Evan
sat bound to a chair.
His fingers twitched.
His eyelids trembled.
Moments later, his eyes slowly openedâhis consciousness returning as the drugâs effects wore off.
The storm was coming.
To be continued...
