Chapter 1755 -1748: She Seeks Help Using the Method of the Imperial Guards
âOh my god! What should we do now?â Lu Mother looked around and didnât see the pursuing Lu Mian. This area of crushed grass was covered with wild grass taller than a person.
She called out twice, but there was no response.
Leng Muling gritted her teeth and grabbed Lu Motherâs arm, âMother, help me up. Someone is plotting against us⊠Letâs hurry and leave!â
âPlotting? ThisâŠâ
Although Lu Mother hadnât experienced such dangers before, she was a calm woman. She quickly pulled Leng Muling up and held her steady.
Leng Muling brushed aside the wild grass, analyzed the situation carefully, and led Lu Mother to the right.
She was injured when she jumped from the car and had bruised her leg, now limping as she walked.
Lu Mother felt distress for her but didnât have time to ask anything.
Leng Muling supported her as they walked, saying, âThe horses at the Lu residence are well-trained; such an accident wouldnât usually happen. Lu Mian has offended too many people in the court recently. If we donât run quickly, we donât know what dangers weâll encounter!â
Having no hope for that wretched Lu Mian, she could only take Lu Mother and escape, finding a safe place to settle temporarily.
Lu Mother hadnât expected to face such an ordeal, but she was unable to handle it. With Leng Mulingâs experience, she naturally followed her lead but hadnât anticipated that Lu Mian would bring such trouble.
Leng Muling led her into the mountains. Fortunately, she was familiar with this place, as Mo Qi had shown her around before; she knew of several secluded caves in the mountain.
As night fell, Leng Muling took Lu Mother into a cave, and together they collected some firewood. After making a fire for warmth, she told Lu Mother, âMother, bear with it. We have to be a bit miserable tonight, but once itâs daylight, we can descend the mountain.â
Descending the mountain at night, they couldnât see the road. Those two women, who knew nothing about martial arts, would have no defense if they encountered any danger. Hiding and waiting for daylight was the safest choice.
Lu Mother watched Leng Muling dragging her leg, yet despite her limp, she managed to build a fire in the mountain and picked wild fruits so they wouldnât go hungry.
She was quite curious, âChild, how did you learn to do all this?â
Leng Muling sat by the fire, tossing dead branches into it as she spoke, âI used to come out often to play. My uncle brought me along, and so did Seventh BrotherâŠâ
Leng Muling realized her mistake as soon as she spoke, and she smiled awkwardly to cover it up, âMy uncle and auntie are not ones to follow rules strictly. Whenever they took me out to play, they would teach me these things.â
âYour uncle, fine, but your auntie is a lady of a noble family; she wouldnât let you do these things. I guess⊠it must have been your uncle who adored you.â
Lu Mother smiled. But for this situation, she would never have imagined that, besides talents and manners, a womanâs ability to be independent was so important.
Leng Muling didnât talk much more with Lu Mother but consistently took care of her.
She leaned against Lu Mother and fell asleep, while Lu Mother sat by the fire, deep in thought.
The danger in Jiang Du City was far beyond her imagination. Her son, having stepped into the muddy waters of officialdom, found no tranquility and inevitably developed his current character.
Lu Mian found Lu Mother upon seeing the fabric torn by Leng Muling tied to the branches.
The Imperial Guardsâ communication method tied the band towards the east, so they settled in the west.
Lu Mian found the cave by searching the area where the band was tied to the west and found his mother and Leng Muling.
Lu Mother hadnât slept all night. When she saw Lu Mian, she did not show a happy expression. Lu Mian rushed over, grabbed Leng Muling, and slapped her hard, âWretched woman!â
