Arthur had his eyes fixed on the troops before him.
There were two soldiers at Diamond 1, who seemed to be the leaders of their teams.
The one on the right looked to be from the authorities, seeing the group behind him, while the other was easy to identify by the armour he wore.
Arthurâs aim wasnât to kill anyone, but to ensure that none of the soldiers here reached their destinations.
Spreading fear among them was just a secondary task.
Or maybe it was the primary one, depending on how one perceived the situation.
At the moment, Arthur had limited his rank to Diamond 1.
He hadnât only disguised his rank, but also limited his strength, as a form of precaution.
If an Immortal were to somehow observe the battle, it was better not to leave a trace behind.
"This is the last time that I am warning you... stop right there, and let us communicateâ"
Swoosh
!
Just as the distance was reduced to some ten feet, Arthur vanished from his place, before arriving at the nearest soldier.
Thud!
No sound was made, as the soldier standing behind the captain dropped to the ground without being able to resist.
Silence.
Looking at the way the soldier had dropped down, everyone assumed that it might have been a punch to his gut, but...
There were no signs of a punch being launched, as Arthur simply stood near the unconscious body of the soldier.
"Whenâ"
"Down!"
Just as the officer in charge was about to question Arthur in shock, the latter once again disappeared from his place and appeared right beside the officer, his fist suspended in the air, right where the officerâs face should have been.
Seeing his punch miss, Arthur raised his head, only to find the captain standing a few feet away, with the sword tightly gripped in his hand, while his other hand was on the collar of the officer that he had just saved.
Danzi hadnât even been able to see through the attack. It was only due to sheer luck and his instincts kicking in at the last moment that he was able to save the officer.
"Get a grip over yourself."
Danzi uttered the words through gritted teeth, as he tried his best to concentrate all his attention on Arthur, who stood at the same place, unmoving.
"Thanks."
Remrys, patting Danziâs shoulder, stood up before taking his own stance.
The first exchange with the man in black had proved all their previous thoughts.
The man was strong... they knew it, but feeling it up close was a different thing altogether.
And the most humiliating part of all was that the man wasnât even trying to actively kill them.
They werenât able to sense the attack when the first soldier went down, and even now, Arthurâs attack, though fast, didnât have killing intent behind it.
But why?
None of them could understand, as Arthur took another step before raising his right hand in an inviting gesture.
"Tsk."
Clicking his tongue, Danzi bent down a little to brace against the next attack.
He didnât even think of actively attacking, as he knew the chances of success were below zero.
The only thing they could now do was stall the man for as long as possible, at least until the reinforcements arrived.
Whether they would arrive was another matter entirely.
Though Danzi hoped that the commotion would quickly draw the attention of the higher-ups, and that some help would be sent to them... in time.
Remrys too had the same thought, as he focused on how to protect his menâ
Swoosh!
Arthur disappeared again, butâ
"Huh?"
Danzi blinked his eyes, as Arthur didnât charge in his direction.
"Just whereâ"
Both Danzi and Remrys had the words blocked in their throats, as the scene before them left the two speechless.
Nearly half of the men that had been sent with them were sprawled on the ground, their bodies limp, making no movements whatsoever.
As for the other soldiers, none of them were able to notice their comrades falling one by one.
"Fuck!"
Danzi cursed out loud before channeling more mana through his core, not in order to fight Arthur, but to track him. To his dismay, the guy wasnât even visible.
There were no movements in the air around them, nor could they notice Arthur anywhere... the only thing that they could see were their men falling in groups of ten, with no way of tracking the attacker.
It wasnât like Arthur was attacking ten men at the same time, but his speed was so great that before the first man landed on the ground, nine more would already have been attacked, without the soldiers even knowing about it.
And not a sound was made, as the entirety of their surroundings remained silent.
The silence now began to send tingles across their spines, as Danzi looked towards Remrys, who just stood frozen, seeing all the officers under him lying motionless on the ground.
Their hands still held their swords, as their bodies had gone limp before their brains could process the events.
The man should have been strong, but...
Wasnât this too unreasonable?
It had to be known that both of them were Diamond cores, and even if the enemy was above them in tiers, they should at least have been able to react.
Orâ
Another possibility began to take root in their minds before being quickly dismissed.
There was no way an Immortal would take the effort to personally punch everyone.
A single spell from an Immortal was enough to end all their lives, mercifully.
And why would the attackers even have an Immortal in their ranks?
The possibility was too ridiculous to even think of.
Yet, neither Danzi nor Remrys could explain the situation before their eyes.
It had been a mere ten seconds after Arthurâs disappearance, and the majority of their men were already taken out of the battle, with their leaders unable to do a thing about it.
The only saving grace was that the soldiers looked unconscious, and the mana in their bodies was still flowing, which meant that their lives werenât in danger.
Butâ
Even if no one had died, standing helplessly at the side without being able to help any of their men...
Danzi couldnât think of anything more humiliating than this.
