Chapter 29: Chapter 29: A Miracle! A Tiger Saves a Human
The manager of Tiger Park was busy arranging for staff to shoot the tigers with tranquilizer darts.
They had to hit every tiger simultaneously; otherwise, the others would go crazy when they saw their companions fall.
There were nine tigers in Tiger Park, and it wasnāt easy to gather nine trained personnel.
The scene was utter chaos.
The beasts were still attacking the tour vehicle. One tiger was trying to rip through the protective bars on a door.
Cries erupted from inside the vehicle.
The door was quickly breached. A large tiger slammed into the side, sending the entire tour vehicle flying. It rolled twice on the ground.
The world seemed to spin. Renee Jennings winced in pain, vaguely hearing the system issue a new mission.
[System 009: New mission triggered: Calm the tigersā fury. Reward: Deer Dictionary, two million in cash. Failure: Level-four electric shock.]
Renee Jennings was completely stunned.
āThese are ferocious beasts. How could I possibly calm their fury?ā
But reality didnāt give Renee Jennings time to think. She suddenly realized that Michelle Fuller had been thrown from the vehicle when it rolled over.
Several tigers were slowly approaching her.
"Michelle!" Renee Jenningsās face turned pale instantly.
"Weāre dead, weāre so dead! Weāre going to die today! AHHH!"
"I donāt want to die... WAAAAH."
"What should I do? Somebody, please save me..."
With desperate sobs ringing in her ears, Renee Jennings fought through the pain and squeezed out of the vehicle. "Michelle!"
Michelle Fuller had already fainted from fright.
Renee Jennings rushed to her side. Watching the tigers close in, she trembled uncontrollably. Their ferocious maws and razor-sharp claws looked ready to tear them to shreds at any second.
The fear was overwhelming.
The giant beast before her let out a deafening roar, and Renee Jenningsās mind went blank.
"Oh my god, does that woman have a death wish? How could she run down there!"
"Holy crap, is she insane?"
"What an idiot! Sheās just throwing her life away!"
"..."
All the tourists in the viewing area thought Renee Jennings was courting death.
Renee Jennings clenched her fists. Despite the freezing weather, she broke out in a cold sweat.
A tiger adjusted its stance, slowly sinking into a crouch, poised to attack at any moment.
Renee Jennings gritted her teeth. She had to take a desperate gamble.
She looked at one of the tigers and raised her voice. "Rory, didnāt you say we were friends? Would you hurt your own friend?"
The moment she said this, everyone thought sheād been scared out of her mind.
"What is she doing? Talking to a tiger? The fear must have made her lose her mind."
"Sheās so pretty, too. What a waste."
"I canāt bear to watch... Why havenāt the zookeepers done anything? Are they just going to let us watch a face that beautiful get mauled by a tiger...?"
Everyone thought Renee Jennings was as good as dead.
The giant, ravenous beast lunged at her.
Many of the tourists covered their eyes, unable to watch the bloody scene that was about to unfold.
Renee Jenningsās brow was tightly furrowed, her heart hammering in her chest. "Rory, arenāt we friends?" she cried out in near despair.
Just as the tigerās powerful forelimbs were about to come down on her, Rory shot forward in a blur, knocking his brother aside.
"What the hell, Rory, are you crazy?!" The tiger, caught completely off guard, was sent tumbling. It scrambled back up, grumbling.
Rory planted himself in front of Renee Jennings. "Sorry, Niner. Renee is my friend. You canāt eat her."
"You actually made friends with a pesky human?" Niner asked in surprise.
Rory said, "Renee isnāt like those other pesky humans."
Niner asked, "How is she any different?"
This scene left the tourists completely stunned.
"Good heavens! Am I seeing things? Is that tiger protecting the girl?"
"Itās a miracle! A tiger is saving a person!"
"Wait, could it be that they arenāt protecting her, but fighting over their prey?"
At these words, everyoneās hearts sank once more.
How was she different?
Rory said smugly, "She has good taste. She knows Iām the most handsome tiger in all of Tiger Park, and she complimented my name! Plus, sheās pretty!"
After hearing this, Niner stared intently at Renee Jenningsās face.
āShe really is prettier than those other pesky humans.ā
It "hmphed." "Fine, I wonāt eat her. But she has to compliment me, too!"
Rory looked back at Renee Jennings. "Renee, want to give my brother a compliment, too?"
Renee Jennings was speechless. "..."
Niner had already walked right up to her.
The tourists in the viewing area were fraught with worry.
"Itās over! Have the two tigers come to an agreement? Are they going to share their prey?"
"*Sob*... The poor girl is doomed..."
Niner let out a low growl. "Human, compliment me!"
Renee Jennings, looking at its undeniable ferocity, pursed her lips and said slowly, "Your name is Niner?"
Niner: "It is."
Renee Jennings said, "The number nine is the highest single digit, a symbol of supremacy. Niner is a great name."
Niner was pleased. "Of course it is."
Renee Jennings continued, "You have a deep, majestic facial structure. One look and you can tell youāre a very cool tiger."
Niner grew even more pleased. "I agree. Iām the coolest tiger here."
Rory said proudly, "See? I told you. Renee isnāt like those other pesky humans."
Niner agreed wholeheartedly. "Thatās right, Renee is different. From now on, Renee is Ninerās friend, too."
Having escaped from the tigerās jaws, Renee Jennings breathed a sigh of relief. The tension coiling in her gut finally eased a little.
Niner turned and stared at the tourists inside the tour vehicle.
āCanāt eat Reneeās friends, but these humans whoāve been annoying us tigers are definitely fair game.ā
The tigers surrounded the tour vehicle. The tourists inside shrieked in panic, and someone was so scared they wet their pants.
Renee Jennings watched the scene unfold, her brow deeply furrowed.
She hesitated before speaking. "Rory, is everyone so angry because that one person was careless with the meat, and that kid scared you with firecrackers?"
"Yes, but thatās not all of it." Rory stayed close to Renee Jenningsās side, worried another tiger might accidentally hurt her. "We tigers have been fed up with these humans for a long time. Theyāre too annoying."
Renee Jennings: "So, are you trying to punish the humans by doing this?"
Rory: "Of course."
Renee Jennings took a deep breath. "Actually, this is letting them off too easy. Tell everyone to stop. I have a better idea, a way to make those humans so miserable theyāll wish they were dead."
"What is she saying to the tigers now?"
"Please, just shut up! The tigers are going to come back and eat her!"
Roryās interest was piqued. He began to call the other tigers over. "Brothers, come here! Renee has a great idea for punishing the humans!"
The other tigers were also curious and began to gather around Renee Jennings.
