Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Its Pain
"S-Sabin, you..." Renee Jennings held her breath, her heart pounding wildly. Her legs, feeling as if an electric current had shot through them, trembled nervously.
"Sabin, I warned you not to bully Renee!" Rory roared in anger.
Niner quickly closed in as well, his eyes full of wariness. "Sheâs here to help you! You canât eat her!"
Sabin didnât bite Renee Jennings with his sharp fangs. He just struggled to open his mouth wide.
Renee Jennings froze for a second before a flash of understanding lit up her pretty eyes.
âWhat a smart tiger.â
Renee Jennings covered her mouth and nose with one hand and slowly reached out with the other to touch Sabinâs tooth. "Sabin, does it hurt right here?"
Sabin gave a small nod, then shook his head.
Renee Jennings blinked, confused. She asked hesitantly, "So your tooth hurts, but itâs not this one, right?"
Sabin nodded again.
Now that she understood the source of his pain, Renee Jennings let out a sigh of relief.
She backed away a few steps and said gently, "Alright, Sabin. You can close your mouth now."
Sabin closed his mouth and let out another low growl. "Can I be saved?"
"You can." Renee Jennings raised a hand to pat his head reassuringly. A wave of sympathy washed over her as she thought about his behavior over the past few days.
âThe poor thing. Heâs been tormented by this toothache for so long, unable to tell any humans about his pain.â
"The humans will help you. Donât be afraid." Renee Jennings glanced over at Evan Griffin, who was outside the enclosure, her expression turning serious. "Mr. Griffin, Sabin has a toothache. You need to call the vet right away."
[System 009: Miss Jennings, congratulations on completing the hidden mission "Help the Tiger with a Toothache." Reward received: Turtle Family Dictionary.]
Evan Griffin nodded immediately. "I understand. Thank you, Miss Jennings."
In less than ten minutes, the zooâs veterinary team arrived at the Tiger Parkâs indoor enclosure in a flurry. But when they saw a beautiful young woman standing with a pack of tigers, they all froze in stunned disbelief.
Seeing this, Evan Griffinâs face tightened. "What are you all standing around gawking for?" he urged. "Sabin has a toothache, go treat him! A toothache might not be a real illness, but the pain is killing him! Quick, quick!"
These big tigers were the apples of his eye. Watching Sabin torment himself for the past two days had made his own heart ache.
âGood thing I was smart enough to ask Renee Jennings for help.â
âThank God!â
The veterinary team quickly administered an anesthetic to Sabin through the bars of the enclosure.
"Miss Jennings..." Evan Griffin began, but Renee Jennings already knew what he was going to say.
"I get it." With that, Renee Jennings called the other tigers over to the activity area. "Sabin needs to get a filling. Letâs go outside and film our video."
"Theyâre coming out! The tigers are coming out!"
"That girl from before came out too! Sheâs so young to be an animal consultant. Thatâs incredible!"
"The tigers are like giant, obedient house cats around her. Itâs so cool! How does she do it?"
"..."
Renee Jennings paid no mind to the crowdâs exclamations, calmly taking out her phone to film the tiger brothers.
Rory noticed the other tigers crowding around and grumbled, "Renee, I thought you were only filming this handsome tiger."
Looking at the pouting tiger, Renee Jenningsâs eyes crinkled into a smile. "Donât be mad. Iâll shoot a solo video for you in a little while, and Iâll even add a filter that will make you look so handsome the world might just end!"
Hearing that he could look "world-endingly handsome," Rory perked right up. His tail swayed playfully back and forth, his whole body radiating joy.
The tourists in the viewing area watched with rapt attention, their chatter incessant.
"Good lord, that tiger is acting just like a house cat!"
"She looks so familiar!"
"Oh, I remember now! The last time the tour vehicle at Tiger Park had that accident, she was the one who was surrounded by nine tigers and came out totally unscathed. I was so amazed back then. I canât believe sheâs an animal consultant!"
"Iâve seen a lot of so-called animal consultants who are all talk. When a real problem comes up, theyâre useless. This young lady has the real dealâshe can even tame tigers."
"Where does she post the videos she films? I wonder if she has an account. I want to follow her!"
Renee Jennings finished editing the video and showed it to Rory. And wowâhe was so taken with his own handsomeness that he started tearing around the enclosure.
Niner thought he was being way too dramatic. "Look at him, acting like heâs never seen anything impressive before," he said with disdain. "What a disgrace to tigerkind!"
The moment he finished speaking, he glanced over and saw the screen of Renee Jenningsâs phone. He froze.
âGotta admit,â he thought, âRory does look pretty handsome in that.â
He scratched the ground with his paw and said, a little bashfully, "Renee, I want to film a video like that, too."
"Of course," Renee Jennings said, turning the camera on Niner.
To her surprise, the other tigers actually formed a line, all waiting for their turn to be in a cool video.
When the keepers at Tiger Park saw this, their jaws dropped wide enough to fit an egg.
âIt used to be so hard to get footage of the tigers. Even when they hired people with drones, it was a long shot. And now theyâre voluntarily lining up for Consultant Jennings to film them?â
âHas the world gone crazy, or have the tigers?â
By the time Renee Jennings had finished filming all the tiger brothers, dusk had fallen.
When she got ready to leave, the tiger brothers were all sad to see her go.
Rory stared at her with his big, round eyes, his tone turning mournful. "Renee, is it going to be a long, long time before you come see me again?"
"I wonât." A serious look crossed Renee Jenningsâs clear features. "Iâll be back the day after tomorrow."
âIâll bring Zane and Jasmine to the zoo the day after tomorrow, and I can check on Sabin then.â
Hearing that she would be back the day after tomorrow, the previously sullen tiger brothers all perked up.
"See you the day after tomorrow, Renee!"
"Iâll be waiting for you!"
"..."
"See you all the day after tomorrow." Renee Jennings waved and left Tiger Park through the staff exit.
Evan Griffin was waiting for her at the staff exit. The moment he saw her, he greeted her enthusiastically. "Miss Jennings, thank you so much for today. Thanks to you, Sabin doesnât have to suffer anymore."
Renee Jennings smiled. "Iâm just happy I could help him."
"Miss Jennings, our park director would like to invite you to dinner. I was wondering if you might be available?" Evan Griffin asked tentatively, especially since Renee Jennings had already refused once before.
This time, however, she nodded.
A delighted smile bloomed across Evan Griffinâs face. "Thank you!"

Old Hag Crawford took advantage of the dark to scatter a large amount of food around the base of the apartment building.
"What do you think youâre doing?" A voice suddenly sounded from behind, making her freeze.
She turned around stiffly. Seeing it was a stranger, she let out a sigh of relief and snapped impatiently, "Whatâs it to you?"
As soon as she spoke, Old Hag Crawfordâs gaze was drawn to the young manâs wrist. He wore a watch covered in diamonds that was clearly worth a fortune.
She licked her lips and asked, "Young man, that watch of yours must be expensive, huh?"
"Only a few million," the man said flatly, his eyes scanning the slightly worn-down residential buildings. "You live here?"
âA few million!â
Shocked, Old Hag Crawfordâs expression immediately shifted to one of fawning flattery. "Thatâs right! Who are you looking for, handsome?"
"Do you know Renee Jennings?"
