Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Her Mom and the Furry Kids Misunderstand Each Other
Renee Jennings slept until eleven oâclock before Rhea Dempsey woke her up.
"Theyâre your fur babies, you play with them yourself." Rhea Dempsey stood by the bed, alternately rubbing her two sore hands.
Renee rolled over, sat up in bed, and retorted with a yawn, "They call you Mom. You canât be so irresponsible."
"Iâve been waiting on them all morning. How is that irresponsible?" Rhea felt wronged.
Renee got up, washed her face, had brunch, and then moved a small stool to the balcony, calling her fur babies over for a meeting.
The two cats and two dogs sat obediently in front of her.
Renee stared at them and asked seriously, "What did you all do this morning?"
Bella was the first to raise a small paw.
Renee looked at her and gestured with her chin. "Bella, you go first."
Bella said proudly, "Renee, we played with Mom for a long time this morning, and she was so happy!"
"You played with *her*?" Renee raised an eyebrow slightly.
Bella nodded her little head. "Yeah. Mom was so bored she was just watching TV, so we played with her."
Renee: "..."
âSo, my mom and the pets have been misunderstanding each other this whole time.â
âBoth sides thought they were the ones doing the entertaining.â
Renee suddenly felt the urge to laugh. "You donât have to play with her next time."
"Why not?" Cici meowed in confusion.
Renee said, "She doesnât like playing like that."
Bella asked, puzzled, "But Mom was having so much fun!"
Renee said, amused, "She was very happy, but sheâs had enough for today. From now on, she wonât want to play like that anymore."
The fur babies all nodded, showing they understood.
Renee raised her eyebrows. "Alright, meeting adjourned!"
She put the small stool back in its place and went to the sofa to sprawl out.
But she had barely laid down when she heard the Slider speaking.
"Renee, youâre not doing anything right now. How about starting a livestream?"
Renee blinked, wondering if she had heard correctly.
She slowly turned her head to stare at the Slider in the terrarium. "Did... did you just say something?"
The Slider replied, "Yep. Are you going to stream?"
Renee: "..."
âWhat the hell? Am I seriously being pressured to stream by a turtle?â
The Slider said, "Fam, you have no idea. Livestreaming is so much fun."
Renee asked, "Whatâs so fun about it?"
The Slider said, "You get to hear lots of gossip! And this turtle loves listening to gossip."
Renee: "..."
âWhy would a turtle be so into gossip?â
The Slider swam slowly, its small eyes gazing at Pippi, who was playing with Bella in the distance. "Thatâs Stellaâs dog, Pippi, right?"
Renee stared at it in shock. "How do you know that?"
The Slider said, "This turtle happened to be awake that night, and I was watching the whole time you were streaming. It was so interesting! What I canât get over is Stella and her mom!"
Renee: "..."
âYou even know a term like that?â
"By the way, why is Pippi at our house?" the Slider asked, confused.
Renee said lightly, "It seems Stella had a fight with her mom and ran away from home with Pippi. I didnât ask for details because I was afraid of upsetting her."
"Oh, thatâs easy," the Slider said leisurely. "You can just ask her dog!"
Renee raised an eyebrow slightly. "Huh, I canât believe I didnât think of that."
The Slider immediately became smug. "This turtle is very clever, you know."
Renee called Pippi over and asked in detail what had happened at Stellaâs house yesterday.
Pippi recounted the whole situation.
Before Renee could say a word, the Slider furiously exclaimed, "How outrageous! Unforgivable! Simply scandalous!"
Renee: "..."
âHow does a turtle know so many big words?â
The Slider continued its rant, "Stellaâs mom is just unbelievably ridiculous! Whatâs more important, her daughter or her own familyâs home?"
Renee couldnât help but ask, "Slider, do you even know what âdaughterâ and âher own familyâs homeâ mean?"
The Slider said haughtily, "This turtle knows a lot! You and Bella are Ms. Dempseyâs daughters, Jasmine is Bellaâs daughter, and this is Bellaâs parentsâ home."
Renee raised an eyebrow and smiled. "You really do know a lot, but you got one thing wrong."
The Slider frowned and humbly asked, "What did this turtle get wrong?"
"This isnât my sisterâs parentsâ home. This is my sisterâs home," Renee corrected.
"Oh... is that how it is?" the Slider said, only half-understanding. "Why donât we go back to talking about Stellaâs family?"
Renee blinked, a hint of confusion on her fair face. "Why are you so curious about Stellaâs family?"
The Slider replied, "Because I canât get over it!"
"Thereâs nothing you can do even if you canât get over it," Renee said helplessly. "Itâs still their familyâs business. Even a wise judge canât settle a family quarrel."
The Slider sighed and said petulantly, "Then, Renee, you have to do another livestream. Otherwise, this turtle will just keep thinking about Stellaâs family."
Lately, Renee had been constantly pestered by her viewers to stream, but she never expected to be pestered by a turtle at home, too.
Just then, Blueberry quietly approached and meowed softly, "Actually... Iâd like to watch Renee stream, too."
Cici also meowed, "Cici wants to watch, too."
That night, only Bella had been fast asleep. Blueberry and Cici had sat on either side of Renee, listening intently.
âThe human world is so complicated.â
"Renee, the real value of your streams is that you can help so many animals and so many people." The Slider suddenly grew serious. "This turtle thinks youâre basically a hero."
Renee was once again completely stunned.
âThis is terrifying.â
âThis turtle actually knows how to PUA people!â
"You didnât seem this smart before." Renee leaned close to the terrarium glass, staring at the Slider up close. "Tell me the truth, are you someone whoâs been transmigrated?"
The Slider: "...Huh? Whatâs âtransmigratedâ?"
"Nothing," Renee waved her hand dismissively. She had just said it offhandedly.
She rested her hands behind her head and gazed at the ceiling light, her lovely brows furrowed slightly. A look of hesitation crossed her simple, pretty face.
About half an hour later, Renee shot up into a sitting position.
She grabbed her phone from the coffee table and typed out a message to Michelle Fuller: [Wanna watch the stream?]
Michelle Fuller immediately sent back a TikTok screenshot: [Waiting online!!!]
Renee casually gathered her long, wavy hair that was scattered over her chest and tied it into a bun.
Her gaze shifted between the Slider and the two kittens, and she smiled. "Iâm starting the stream. You watching?"
Blueberry and Cici quickly leaped onto the sofa, settling on either side of her like a pair of guardians.
Renee hadnât expected several hundred viewers to pour into her stream room the moment she went live.
[Iâve finally got you, good thing I didnât give up!]
[Aaaah, checking in every few minutes was worth it!]
[First row!]
Just as Renee was about to speak, she saw the user with the ID "Yi Shu Er Yu" gift ten "Romantic Fireworks."
[A whale has appeared!]
[Whoa, itâs The Rich Lady!]
Renee quickly said, "Summer, you donât have to spend so much."
