Chapter 97: Chapter 97: When Will You Pay Back the Money You Scammed?
"Huh?" Michelle Fuller was completely baffled. "Why not?"
Renee Jennings whispered, "A girlâs hair tie is a boyâs ring. Evan Shepherd told me that, too."
Michelle Fuller: "..."
Her eyes suddenly widened. "Are you serious?"
Renee Jennings nodded, her expression grim. "And at the time, I actually thought it was romantic."
Michelle Fuller: "What?!"
Renee Jennings brought a hand to her forehead. "All part of my embarrassing past."
Michelle Fuller frowned, sensing there was more to the story. "Their lines are identical. Did they learn from the same master or something?"
Renee Jenningsâs gaze fell back on the man, her eyes cold. "In any case, theyâre both bad news."
"The Cheesie cat near him says heâs already used that line on at least ten girls."
Just as Renee Jennings finished speaking, she noticed the Cheesie cat looking in their direction.
The Cheesie catâs mouth moved as it started ranting again. "Pretty ladies, you have to keep your eyes peeled! If you run into this male biped, run for your life! Heâs riddled with STDs. One girl caught something from him and cried her heart out!"
Renee Jennings frowned and repeated what the cat said in a low voice.
Michelle Fullerâs face flushed with anger. "Thatâs outrageous! We have to save that girl!"
Renee Jennings felt the same way.
She mused, "Whatâs the best way to warn her? Should we write her a little note?"
"I have an idea!" Michelle Fuller leaned in and whispered her plan into Reneeâs ear.
Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "Itâs a good plan, but youâd be making a huge sacrifice. Why donât I do it?"
"You canât," Michelle Fuller said, shaking her head and reasoning, "Youâre an official creator with millions of followers. Youâd be too easily recognized. Iâm different. I havenât even started yet."
Renee Jennings hesitated for a few seconds before saying seriously, "Alright. Iâll start a livestream. After youâre done dealing with that scumbag, Iâll explain everything to the viewers so no one gets the wrong idea."
"Deal. Iâll go over now." Michelle Fuller snapped her fingers. "Hereâs to our success."
With that, she stood up and walked toward the table where the man and woman were on their date.
The young woman was the first to notice Michelle approaching, a flicker of confusion in her eyes.
When Michelle Fuller stopped, crossed her arms, and stared at Felix Fletcher, the woman spoke up. "Mr. Fletcher, I think someoneâs here for you."
Hearing this, a confused Felix Fletcher asked, "Who, Miss Hollis?"
Evelyn Hollis looked toward Michelle Fuller.
Felix Fletcher followed her gaze and saw Michelle Fuller. A flash of admiration lit up his eyes, and he put on a gentlemanly smile. "Hello, may I help you?"
Michelle Fuller curved her lips into a captivating smile, then raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face. She sneered, "Whatâs this? Pretending you donât know me?"
Evelyn Hollis jumped in fright.
The viewers in Renee Jenningsâs livestream were also shocked.
Seeing that Renee Jennings had gone live, netizens had excitedly flooded into the stream, not expecting to see someone get slapped the moment they arrived.
[Hmm? Whatâs going on?]
[Grabbing my popcorn!]
Felix Fletcher was also stunned by the slap.
He clutched his face, frantically searching his memory for any recollection of Michelle Fuller.
Michelle Fuller glanced at Evelyn Hollis, then pointed a finger at Felix Fletcherâs nose. "On a date, are we? When are you going to pay back the money you conned out of me?"
"You..." Felix Fletcherâs face darkened. "Who are you? I donât know you at all! How could I possibly have scammed money from you?"
He couldnât recall when he might have messed around with this woman, but even if he recognized her, he would never admit it.
"You must have the wrong person."
"Youâre still pretending, Fletcher?" The words had barely left Michelle Fullerâs mouth before her hand flew up and she slapped him again.
She turned to a panicked Evelyn Hollis and asked with a smile, "Are you his girlfriend?"
Evelyn Hollis quickly shook her head. "No."
âWeâre not officially together yet,â she thought.
"Good." Michelle Fuller shot Felix Fletcher a scornful look. "This son of a bitch specializes in swindling women. Some for money, some for sex. Luckily, I was smart enough that he only got a few hundred out of me."
[A few hundred? Does she mean a few million or just a few hundred bucks?]
[If he got a few million off you, you wouldnât be calling yourself smart, sis.]
Evelyn Hollisâs eyes widened in shock. "Is that true?"
"Why would I lie to you?" Michelle Fuller hooked a finger under the hair tie on Felix Fletcherâs wrist and flicked it hard.
Hearing the scumbag cry out in pain, she laughed. "Pulling the âa girlâs hair tie is a boyâs ringâ trick again, are we?"
Evelyn Hollis stared at the hair tie, a sudden chill running down her spine.
Felix Fletcher quickly tried to explain, "Erin, donât listen to her lies. I really donât know her."
The moment she heard that, Michelle Fuller raised her hand and slapped him again. "Your mom told you a girlâs hair tie is a boyâs ring, huh? Well, did your mom also tell you not to go around infecting girls when youâre riddled with diseases?"
[Damn, does he have AIDS?]
[AHHH! From now on, Iâm demanding a full medical report before I date anyone!]
Evelyn Hollis stared at Felix Fletcher in disbelief, her face a mask of horror.
âA... an STD?â
Felix Fletcher also stared at Michelle Fuller, stunned. "Y-You... stop spouting nonsense! Iâm perfectly healthy!"
"Oh, really?" Michelle Fuller said with a taunting smile. "How about I take you to get an HIV test right now? You dare?"
All the confidence drained out of Felix Fletcher, as if a hole had been punched through his heart.
He swallowed hard and feigned composure. "Why should I? I have to go get tested just because you tell me to? Thatâs ridiculous!"
"If you donât have the guts, just say so." After her jibe, Michelle Fuller turned to Evelyn Hollis and said softly, "Are you going to stay here, or would you like to step outside and talk with me?"
"Donât go!" Felix Fletcher blurted out instinctively.
Evelyn Hollis frowned at him, displeased by his commanding tone.
Felix Fletcher realized his mistake and quickly tried to explain, "What I mean is, sheâs a con artist. Donât go with her. It could be dangerous."
Michelle Fuller scoffed. "Whatâs more dangerous? Leaving with me, or staying here with him?"
"Iâll go with you." Evelyn Hollis quickly grabbed her bag and stood beside Michelle Fuller.
Felix Fletcherâs face darkened. He reached out and grabbed Evelyn Hollisâs purse. "You canât leave."
"Let go!" Evelyn Hollis said, her expression hardening. "You have no right to tell me whether I stay or go!"
Felix Fletcher stood up and tried to reason with her in a placating tone, "Miss Hollis, is it really necessary to cause such a scene with me over a complete stranger?"
"Mr. Fletcher, should I have all the women youâve lured and deceived meet us at the police station to identify you?" Renee Jennings said as she walked over, phone in hand.
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Felix Fletcherâs eyes darted about guiltily before he denied it. "Iâve never done anything of the sort! Stop slandering me! This is just my rotten luck!"
With that, he let go of Evelyn Hollisâs purse and straightened his suit jacket.
He sat back down at the table. "Miss Hollis, youâre right, I have no authority over whether you stay or go. But if you walk out of here today, youâre giving up the chance to be with me. I hope you donât make a choice youâll regret."
Evelyn Hollis had no intention of engaging with him further. She looked at Michelle Fuller and Renee Jennings and said softly, "I believe you two. Letâs go."
