Chapter 265: Chapter 265: So It Was for the Convenience of an Affair
Renee Jennings watched the bashful girl on the screen and said hesitantly, "This doesnât just concern the cousin. It has to do with your boyfriend, too."
"Huh?" The bashful girlâs face was a picture of surprise. "What do you mean?"
"Whatâs this cousinâs last name?" Renee Jennings asked.
The bashful girl replied, "Yao."
"Then Iâll refer to her as Miss York from now on." Renee Jenningsâs voice was gentle as she asked, "So, whatâs your boyfriend doing right now?"
The bashful girl frowned slightly and explained, "He and Miss York are discussing work. I didnât want to listen, so I took a shower and came to lie down in my room."
Renee Jennings blinked, then pressed on. "And this Miss York, how exactly is she his cousin? Through his aunt on his fatherâs side? Or an aunt or uncle on his motherâs?"
"Umm..." The bashful girl thought for a moment, then shook her head. "I donât think Iâve ever asked him."
[Iâm suddenly having a wild thought. What if this âcousinâ isnât really his cousin?]
[Oh my god, I can practically see the green light above the bashful girlâs head...]
Seeing the live comments, the bashful girlâs eyes widened in shock. "What does that mean...?"
"Some of the cleverer viewers have already figured it out." Renee Jennings arched an eyebrow. "So I wonât keep you in suspense. Joy just told me that Miss York isnât your boyfriendâs cousin. Sheâs his first love."
The camera feed from the bashful girlâs phone suddenly became unsteady; the hand holding it was trembling. "How... How is that possible?"
Joy barked, "WOOF! WOOF! Why wouldnât it be possible? I, Joy, saw it with my own two eyes and heard it with my own two ears!"
[Holy shit, this girlâs boyfriend has some serious nerve.]
[So that begs the question: if her boyfriend and Miss York are in the study âdiscussing work,â what kind of âworkâ are they discussing?]
[The âdiscussing workâ part is a lie...]
The bashful girlâs eyes turned red as she looked sadly at Joy. "Is it really true?"
"Of course itâs true," Joy replied. "While you were in the shower, that scumbag was holding his first love and they were making out..."
Renee Jennings cleared her throat and said tactfully, "Joy says that while you were in the shower, your boyfriend and Miss York started cooking."
The bashful girl was both heartbroken and furious. "How could they do this to me? Miss York has a husband of her own!"
[Whoa, so Miss York is a married woman. They really like to live dangerously!]
[If theyâre so in love, why didnât they just get married?]
[Some people just love the thrill.]
"No wonder her husband is never here when my boyfriend and I visit. It was all to make it convenient for them to have their affair!" The bashful girlâs brows knitted together, a look of utter disgust on her face as if sheâd swallowed a fly.
"The worst part is, theyâre afraid my master will wake up in the middle of the night and find them sleeping together, so they secretly feed her sleeping pills!" Joy said angrily.
When Renee Jennings heard that, a grave expression appeared on her fair face. "Theyâre doing that to her, too?"
"Yes!" Joy nodded its head emphatically. "The first love said she âspecially stewed some birdâs nest soupâ for my master, but she added sleeping pills to it!"
"Renee, what else have they done?" the bashful girl asked, her voice tight with anxiety.
Renee Jennings frowned. "Have you eaten any birdâs nest soup tonight?"
"Not yet." The bashful girl shook her head. "She said itâs still simmering and that sheâd bring it to me when itâs done."
She paused, then asked anxiously, "Is there something wrong with the soup?"
"Yes." Renee Jennings gave a slight nod. "Joy says they put sleeping pills in it, also to make it easier for them to be together."
"Sleeping pills?" The bashful girlâs expression changed, and she clenched her fists. "No wonder I get so drowsy right after eating the soup, and itâs so hard to wake up the next day... So theyâve been drugging me..."
[Those two are so disgusting.]
[This is just insane...]
"Itâs a good thing you have Joy," Renee Jennings said in a gentle voice. "You might never have found out otherwise."
"Youâre right." The bashful girl nodded. "Iâm a pretty careless person. I donât pay much attention to most things."
[Ever since I started watching this stream, my desire to get a pet has gotten stronger and stronger.]
[Joy is here to repay a debt of gratitude!]
Renee Jennings pursed her lips. "So, what are you thinking?"
"I..." The bashful girl sighed. "Iâm definitely breaking up with him. But I canât just let it end like this... After what theyâve done to me, I have to make them pay."
[You definitely canât just let this go! I suggest you gather evidence of their affair and send it to all their friends and coworkers~~~]
[Exactly! A video would be best, something that will utterly humiliate them!!!]
Renee Jennings said, "I think those are all viable suggestions."
The bashful girl read the comments carefully, then nodded. "Okay, I get it."
The next second, a knock came from outside the door.
A look of disgust instantly flashed across the bashful girlâs face.
"Luna, the birdâs nest soup is ready," Miss Yorkâs voice called from outside. "Do you want to come out to eat, or should I bring it in to you?"
The bashful girl took a deep breath, flipped her phoneâs camera to face the doorway, propped it up, and then got out of bed to open the door.
As she looked Miss York over, she suddenly realized how wrong everything was. âI must have been completely clueless before.â
Miss York was wearing a black slip dress. Although she had draped a long robe over her shoulders, it was a sheer, lacy thing, and the dressâs neckline was cut very low.
âIf they were really just cousins, who would dress like that in front of him?â
"Luna, where would you like to eat your soup?" Miss York asked in a syrupy-sweet voice.
The bashful girlâs hands, hanging at her sides, clenched into tight fists. "Bring it in here," she said, her tone flat.
"Alright, Iâll go dish it out for you," Miss York agreed with a smile, but as she turned, her expression soured with displeasure.
âIs this bitch treating me like a servant? How dare she use that tone with me, as if I owe it to her!â
The bashful girl sat back down on the edge of her bed, picked up her phone, and whispered, "I almost slapped her right there."
[My dear Luna, you are so incredibly clueless. She dresses like that in front of your boyfriend, and you never thought something was off?]
[That Miss Yorkâs outfit is so risquĂ©.]
Renee Jennings watched the live comments and nodded in agreement. "It is a bit risqué."
The bashful girl gave a wry smile. "But I never even thought it was weird before. No wonder Joy called me the number one fool in all of Zenvia."
[LMAO, Joy is worrying himself to death over you.]
[Joy: What would you ever do without me?]
Joy huffed haughtily. "My master, you really need to get a clue."
Renee Jennings relayed this to the bashful girl, who nodded again and again. "I know, Iâll be more careful from now on."
Just as she said that, Miss York entered the room carrying a bowl of birdâs nest soup. "Luna, the soupâs here!"
Before connecting to the livestream, the bashful girl would have thanked her politely. But now, she just said coolly, "Just put it down. And close the door on your way out."
For a split second, Miss Yorkâs face darkened, but she quickly plastered on a stiff smile. "Alright. Enjoy your soup. Careful, itâs hot."
