Chapter 279: Chapter 279: Shy Girl Tears Apart the Scumbags
The owner of the roast duck shop was taken to the police station for questioning by Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway.
Renee Jennings and Diana Jennings gave their statements, then returned to Eastgate Villa.
Before dinner, Renee posted the video she had just recorded of the Wrightâs Roast Duck scam online.
This was surely not an isolated incident. Posting it could warn more people not to fall for the same trick.
After dinner, Renee took Zane and Jasmine out to the yard to play with the cats and dogs. They didnât go back inside until Rhea Dempsey came to call them in for their baths.
Renee sat on the sofa and scrolled through her phone. She opened the video she had posted before dinner. The comments had already exceeded ten thousand, and the top comments showed many people had encountered the same situation.
[Renee, you ran into this too? I had this happen when I was buying some braised meats. The shopkeeper kept calling and demanding I pay again. It was only about fifty bucks, so I couldnât be bothered to argue and just paid a second time...]
[My mom ran into this too! The owner kept harassing her with phone calls and said a lot of nasty things. My mom is thin-skinned, so she just paid up! And yes, it was this same Wrightâs Roast Duck!]
[Holy crap, so this is actually a scam Wrightâs Roast Duck pulls? I bought eighty bucks worth of stuff, and they kept saying I hadnât paid. They even claimed the payment confirmation screenshot I sent was photoshopped and threatened to expose me online. I have a government job, so I was worried about the negative publicity and just took the loss. I never went back to that shop again!]
[Wrightâs Roast Duck is just begging to be arrested!]
Renee was surprised to see so many others had also been scammed by Wrightâs Roast Duck.
She hesitated for a few seconds, then went upstairs to the study to start a livestream. It had been a few days since her last one, after all.
Even though the stream had just started, the chat immediately lit up with activity. Viewers were posting comments discussing Wrightâs Roast Duck.
[Thank god the streamer posted this. I wouldâve never known about this kind of scam. Iâll be more careful next time.]
[Renee has so many followers. Now that sheâs exposed it, a lot of dishonest people probably wonât dare to keep scamming people.]
[Haha, theyâll probably just come up with new tricks.]
[I got scammed by Wrightâs Roast Duck too! For 102 bucks! I was so pissed!!!]
Renee read through the viewersâ comments and chuckled. "Friends whoâve been scammed by Wrightâs Roast Duck can send a private message to the Zenvia police. I already reported it today, and the owner of Wrightâs Roast Duck is at the station right now."
[Thatâs great!!!]
[Renee, youâre amazing! Iâm going to message them right now. I got scammed back in March.]
[Iâm messaging them too! I was cheated out of 86 in early April!!!]
[Hope the owner of Wrightâs rots in jail! Scammed me for 94, Iâm so mad!]
"Everyone should feel free to send a message, but please stick to the facts," Renee reminded them, then asked with a smile, "Does anyone want to go live with me today?"
[Yes, yes, yes!]
[Of course! You donât even have to ask!]
[Ugh, when will it be my turn to connect with you? Aaaah!]
[Renee, Iâm about to go tear my scumbag boyfriend a new one. Can I connect with you?]
Renee spotted a familiar username in the fast-scrolling comments. Her lips curved slightly. "BashfulBelle, send a request to join the stream."
Soon, the livestream screen split into two smaller windows.
In her window, BashfulBelle was beautifully dressed, with a full face of exquisite makeup.
"Renee, I was just taking a shot in the dark. I canât believe you actually saw my comment!" BashfulBelle said, her face alight with pleasant surprise.
Renee smiled slightly. "It must be fate."
[I guess my fateful encounter with the streamer hasnât arrived yet.]
[Me neither! Patiently waiting for fate!]
BashfulBelleâs expression turned grateful. "Renee, itâs more than fate. Youâre my benefactor."
If Renee hadnât warned her, she would still be deceived by that disgusting scumbag and the tramp he was with.
"Are you ready?" Renee asked softly.
BashfulBelle nodded solemnly. "Iâm ready. I booked a private karaoke room and invited the scumbag and the tramp to sing. I also told the tramp to bring her husband. Theyâre almost here. If itâs okay, Iâll just keep my stream on so everyone can watch."
Before Renee could even speak, the comments were flooded with "Go ahead!"
[Itâs more than okay with us!]
[I live for this kind of drama. Itâs so exciting!]
[Iâve got my popcorn ready.]
[I canât believe I get to see the follow-up. Iâm so lucky.]
Renee glanced at the comments, a faint smile in her eyes. "Since nobody has any objections, then neither do I."
"Thatâs great," BashfulBelle said happily. "Thank you, everyone!"
On one hand, it was because everyone had been sticking up for her before, and this was a way to give an update to those who cared. On the other hand, Reneeâs stream had a huge audience, and there was a chance that acquaintances of the scumbag and the tramp might be watching.
After they chatted for about five or six minutes, Zayden Wyatt called to ask for the room number.
BashfulBelle told him the room number, then found a spot to set up her phone. She said to the camera, "Alright everyone, Iâm off to confront the scumbag and the tramp!"
With that, she turned and sat back down on the sofa.
The door to the private room was soon pushed open from the outside, and Zayden Wyatt appeared.
He walked over to BashfulBelle, affectionately took her hand, and kissed it a couple of times. "Baby, what made you suddenly want to go singing?"
BashfulBelle was utterly disgusted. Forcing down her discomfort, she squeezed out a smile. "Itâs just been a while since Iâve sung. I wanted to come out and have some fun."
"Why did you think to invite Sis?" Zayden asked.
BashfulBelle calmly pulled her hand away. "My cousin is always so good to me. Canât I treat her to some karaoke to have fun?"
"Of course you can." Zayden breathed a sigh of relief when he heard her answer. "But the most important thing to me is whether youâre happy."
BashfulBelle sneered inwardly and didnât respond, casually remarking, "Why isnât my cousin here yet?"
"Probably stuck in traffic," Zayden said, playing with her hand again. He raised his voice. "Baby, did you get your nails done?"
"Yeah, do you like them?" BashfulBelle pulled her hand away again, admiring the new manicure she had just gotten today.
Zayden frowned. "Theyâre a little dark. I donât like it. You should go get them changed to pink tomorrow."
"I donât like pink." BashfulBelle gave him a playful glare. "Donât tell a pretty girl what to do."
Zayden felt like she was acting a little strange, but he couldnât put his finger on why.
Just then, Zaydenâs phone rang. The caller ID displayed two words: "Pretty Sister."
A flicker of scorn crossed BashfulBelleâs eyes.
That was Zaydenâs contact name for Lynn York.
âWas I blind before? Their behavior was so suspicious, how did I not notice at all?â
"Linda," Zayden answered the phone, his tone unconsciously softening. "Are you here? Iâll come out to get you..."
He said as he walked toward the door.
BashfulBelle stared at his back, a fierce hatred churning in her eyes.
The viewers in the livestream chat were all indignant on her behalf.
[Damn, the scumbag gets one call from the tramp and completely forgets about his girlfriend. How disgusting!]
[Hugs for our girl! The next one will be better!]
[That damn scumbag should just explode on the spot!]
