Chapter 292: Chapter 292: Has Already Broken Up with Her Boyfriend
In the video Renee Jennings submitted, Teacher Yardley stated that she wasnāt the only one accepting gifts. Upon returning to their office, Team Leader Donovan and Leader Brooks immediately convened a meeting to discuss a plan of action.
After some discussion, the disciplinary inspection team decided to form a special task force for Lyris Garden Kindergarten. They also ordered the kindergarten to suspend all teaching activities, placing all teachers on suspension pending investigation to seriously rectify the schoolās disciplinary atmosphere.
Renee Jennings was at a bakery with Diana Jennings picking up a cake when she received the call from the disciplinary inspection team.
Upon hearing the task forceās decision, she clutched her phone, overjoyed. "Okay," she said. "Thank you for taking this seriously."
After hanging up, she immediately told Diana what had happened.
"Thatās fantastic!" Diana beamed, giving her a thumbs-up. "Renee, youāre amazing!"
Renee smiled shyly. "Hehe, it was nothing special."
"Nope, Iām buying you a cake as a reward."
It was likely too late to order a large cake, so after a momentās thought, Diana picked out a small, adorable cake from the display shaped like a polka-dot bow.
Diana drove them back to Eastgate Villa, with Renee in the passenger seat cradling the little cake.
"Sis, this cake you bought me is adorable."
"Do you like it?" Diana asked, smiling.
"I love it," Renee nodded. "Itās so cute I almost donāt want to eat it."
Diana laughed. "I bought it for you to eat, so donāt hesitate."
"I know." Renee took out her phone, snapped a few pictures of the little cake, and posted them online before she could finally bring herself to open it and eat.
When they got home, Rhea Dempsey was lounging in the yard, fanning herself with a palm-leaf fan. Zane, Jasmine, and the fur babies were playing with a frisbee.
"Renee and Sister Bella are back!" Pippi exclaimed excitedly.
The other fur babies heard him and looked over, then they all came rushing toward the two women.
Zane and Jasmine saw what was happening and ran over too.
"Mommy! Auntie! Youāre back!"
Diana held up the cake she was carrying, smiling at the two little ones. "Auntie bought you a cake."
"Thank you, Auntie!" Zane and Jasmine chorused.
Renee made a heart gesture with her hands. "Youāre very welcome~"
"Do you want to keep playing outside, or should we go inside for some cake?" Diana asked.
Zane looked at Jasmine. "What do you want to do, Jasmine? Play or eat?"
"Can we eat cake first, Zane?" Jasmine asked.
Zane nodded. "Of course."
Renee ruffled his little head. "Zane, youāre so sweet to your sister. Such a good big brother."
"Itās nothing," Zane said, a little embarrassed by the compliment.
The two little ones followed Diana into the villa for cake. Renee turned to the fur babies, who were all staring at her with wide, expectant eyes. She raised an eyebrow. "How about some treats for you guys?"
"Yes! Yes! Yes!"
"Definitely!"
"We must!"
The fur babies answered, all clamoring at once.
"Alright, letās go." Renee started toward the villa, and the fur babies scampered happily after her.
Only after getting the fur babies settled with their treats did Renee go over to eat her cake.
She had just finished her cake when Michelle Fuller called.
"Renee, I want some cake too~"
Renee raised an eyebrow slightly and replied in a lazy tone, "Michelle, your timing is impeccable. We just finished eating."
"Hmph," Michelle pretended to be angry. "You ate cake without inviting me. As punishment, youāre treating me to barbecue tonight."
"No problem," Renee agreed without hesitation. "Which barbecue place have you got your eye on this time?"
Michelle giggled. "Iāll send you the address now. Donāt drive. Iāll come pick you up so we can have a few drinks together."
Reneeās lips curved into a smile. "Okay, sounds good to me."
At five that evening, Michelle Fuller arrived at Eastgate Villa to pick Renee up, bringing two large bags of snacks for Zane and Jasmine.
The two little ones were ecstatic, chirping "Sister Michelle" over and over in the sweetest voices.
Michelle was so charmed she didnāt want to leave. After wiping the lipstick from her lips, she cupped their little faces and gave them each a kiss. "Iāll come play with you again next time, okay? Bye-bye."
As the black Mercedes cruised down the highway, Renee thought about something that didnāt seem right. "Zane and Jasmine call me āAuntie,ā but they call you āSister Michelleā?"
"Yep," Michelle said, raising an eyebrow at her. "Any problem with that?"
"It messes up the family hierarchy."
"I donāt care. The rule is, if youāre not married, you get called āSisterā."
Renee said, "Alright, fine. Youāre the pretty one, you get to make the rules."
Michelle pulled out her powder compact and, while touching up her makeup, started to gossip. "By the way, did that girl from the stream the other day, Maisy, break up with her boyfriend yet?"
The driver, who also followed Reneeās livestream, perked up his ears at the mention of this.
After all, he had a daughter of his own.
Renee laughed. "Why are you so curious?"
"Iām just concerned about her," Michelle said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Renee smiled. "And what answer are you hoping to hear?"
Twisting her lipstick tube, Michelle said, "That they broke up, obviously. Why would you stay with a family that conniving? Youād run for the hills."
"Well, letās satisfy that curiosity of yours," Renee said, unlocking her phone. She started tapping the screen. "Iāll message Maisy and ask her now."
"Love ya~" Michelle said, making a finger heart at her.
When Renee opened the streaming app, she saw that Maisy had actually sent her several private messages the night before, explaining what happened.
From Maisy:
[Renee, I hope Iām not bothering you with this, but I had to send it. I guess itās for my own peace of mind.]
[My boyfriend thought I was pregnant. He said all that money he "saved" was meant for our future kids. Itās ridiculous. Those are two completely different issues.]
[When I disagreed, he called me nitpicky and materialistic. He said he thought I wasnāt like other girls, that I didnāt care about material things. He never expected me to be so ātacky.ā]
[If I really cared about money, why would I have turned down all the rich guys whoāve pursued me?]
[Seeing his true colors before we got married is a blessing in disguise.]
[Renee, thank you for helping me escape that nightmare. I broke up with him.]
After reading the messages, Renee turned to Michelle. "You can rest easy. Maisy broke up with him."
It wasnāt just Michelle who was relieved; the driver was, too.
"Thatās wonderful news." A smile spread across Michelleās face. "Then tonight, weāll toast to Maisy and her new beginning."
Renee nodded in agreement. "Sounds like a plan."
The restaurant Michelle chose this time was an outdoor spot. Rows of beige tents were set up beside a shimmering lake, decorated with warm-yellow string lights that looked like cascading starlight. You could eat barbecue while enjoying the view, and the place was incredibly photogenic.
"Quick, put on some mosquito repellent." Michelle pulled a bottle from her bag. "This place has a great atmosphere, but Iām guessing itās crawling with mosquitoes."
"Of course youād be this prepared," Renee said, giving her a thumbs-up.
Michelle grinned proudly. "But of course. You stick with me, and Iāll take care of you. When have I ever let you down?"
"Thanks, sis." Renee pressed her palms together in a grateful gesture. "I wish you a future with eight sons."
