Chapter 306: Chapter 306: "I Killed That Woman.
The orange cat whimpered, "The two-legger dragged that lady into the room, and then..."
The orange cat couldnât bring itself to describe what happened next.
The large tabby catâs body trembled. "The lady saw all the dead kitties and screamed and screamed. The two-legger told her to stop, but the lady was terrified, so she couldnât."
The calico cat added, "The two-legger got really angry and started hitting the lady. He asked her if she still wanted to break up."
"The lady was beaten until she couldnât stop crying, and she sobbed that she wanted to break up," the orange cat said sadly. "When the two-legger heard her say that, he took a knife and cut her."
The orange cat: "While the two-legger was hurting the lady, he was also saying..."
"Did you think I donât want to break up because I like you so much?" Linus Hollis laughed sarcastically. "Donât be stupid. Iâm after your familyâs money."
"Youâre the only daughter in your family. Your parentsâ fortune will all be left to you."
"If it werenât for your familyâs filthy money, I wouldnât have given a boring woman like you a second glance."
Moira Fordâs face was pale with pain, filled with despair and agony.
She stared at Linus Hollis, her eyes blazing with intense hatred. Her pale lips trembled, and a broken voice escaped. "Even in... death... I wonât let... you..."
"After youâre dead, Iâll tell your parents that Iâll stay by their side in your place, take care of them in their old age, and your familyâs fortune will still end up in my hands."
"You... will... die... a horrible... death..." Moira Ford said hatefully.
Linus Hollis sneered. "Thatâs something you wonât get to see."
Then, just as he had done with the victimized kittens, he cruelly dismembered Moira Fordâs body.
After listening to the kittensâ account, Renee Jenningsâ slender brows furrowed. "So it really was for personal gain. He refused to break up with Moira Ford because he was after the Ford familyâs money."
Henry Stark pressed his thin lips together, saying nothing.
"Thatâs disgusting!" Kyle Morgan said indignantly. "He has his own two hands. If he wants money, why canât he go earn it himself?"
Levi Hollis also frowned. "At first, he kept begging Moira Ford not to break up, trying to get her to soften. He didnât expect her to refuse."
Sawyer also had a look of disgust. "Because Moira Ford insisted on breaking up, he decided to kill her."
"Itâs too extreme." Zachary Conway clenched his fists. "We have to find evidence. We canât let this demon hurt anyone else."
Sawyer: "Or any more kittens."
"Exactly!" Levi Hollis looked at Renee Jennings. "Can you ask the kittens where Linus Hollis hid the murder weapon?"
Renee Jennings nodded, her gaze returning to the scrawny kittens. "The knife the two-legger used to hurt the lady, did you see where he put it?"
"We saw it!" the orange cat answered quickly. "He put the knife under the floor."
"Under the floor?"
"Yes." The orange cat walked to the doorway of the smelly room, then looked back and meowed. "Under the floor in this room."
Renee Jennings relayed what it said.
Hearing this, Henry Starkâs expression turned grim. "Have it go stand next to that floorboard. Kian Cole and I will go in and get it."
"Okay." Renee Jennings told the orange cat, and the little guy immediately entered the room.
The room had wooden flooring. The orange cat walked back and forth over one of the floorboards twice, then looked at Renee Jennings outside. "Itâs this one."
When Henry Stark and Zachary Conway approached, it immediately moved aside.
Henry Stark, wearing white gloves, bent his finger and knocked on the floorboard.
It was hollow underneath.
His dark brows knitted slightly. He took out a set of keys and pried the floorboard up.
A kitchen cleaver covered in dark brown bloodstains lay inside.
"Found it." Zachary Conway quickly opened an evidence bag.
The group left Linus Hollisâs home with the murder weapon and the several victimized kittens.
The kittens were temporarily placed in the care of a nearby pet shop.
ăBack at the police station.ă
Henry Stark entered the interrogation room again.
"Itâs almost been twenty-four hours," Linus Hollis said with a slight smile. "Officer, if you have any more questions, ask them quickly. I need to get home to feed the stray cats. If I donât go back soon, they might starve to death. That would be a real sin."
Henry Stark looked down at him, his deep, dark eyes holding an all-knowing wisdom, and said unhurriedly, "And you havenât committed enough sins already?"
Linus Hollis said, disgruntled, "I told you, I didnât kill anyone!"
"Is that so," Henry Stark said coolly. "But our investigation shows that you not only killed a person, but also mutilated stray cats."
When Linus Hollis heard this, his expression changed abruptly. His brows furrowed tightly. "What do you mean?"
Henry Stark didnât explain. Instead, Kyle Morgan stood up, brought a few photos over to him, and asked, "Does this place look familiar?"
"You broke into my home illegally!" Linus Hollisâs handcuffed hands clenched into tight fists, his face filled with rage.
Kyle Morgan handed him a search warrant. "Correction: we conducted a legal search of the premises."
Linus Hollis ground his back teeth, his eyes, from behind his glasses, full of calculation.
A moment later, he gave a sinister smile. "I admit it, I punished a few stray cats. Thatâs because theyâre ungrateful little beasts. I was kind enough to take them home, and they still scratched me."
"Thatâs abuse!" Kyle Morgan was having trouble controlling his emotions, his voice full of anger. "And was it just âa fewâ?"
"It was just a few," Linus Hollis said dismissively. "Call it abuse if you want. Iâll admit to that. But accusing me of murder is a complete fabrication. I never did it."
Kyle Morgan took out another bag. "Why donât you take a look at this first?"
Inside the transparent evidence bag was a blood-stained kitchen cleaver.
Linus Hollisâs pupils contracted violently. The face that had been feigning composure was now filled with shock.
A kitchen cleaver!
âI hid it so carefully. How did these cops find it?â
"Surprised?" Henry Starkâs low, cold voice sounded again. "This is the cleaver you used to brutally murder Moira Ford."
"No..." Linus Hollis started to deny it.
Henry Stark cut him off, his tone icy and serious. "This cleaver has your fingerprints on it, as well as Moira Fordâs blood. Are you sure you donât want to confess? This is your last chance to do so voluntarily."
Linus Hollisâs eyes were glued to the cleaver. After about a minute, he let out a choked laugh.
"Yes," he said, his eyes turning grim. "I killed that woman."
Henry Stark: "What was your motive for the murder?"
Linus Hollis put on a look of grief and indignation. "She betrayed me! I loved her so much, but she was with another man..."
Hearing this, Henry Starkâs dark brows drew together. He warned in a low voice, "Linus Hollis, youâd better tell the truth."
"I am telling the truth!" Linus Hollis said excitedly. "Not only did she betray me, she used a video of her sleeping with another man to humiliate me! She said I wasnât as good as him, that I was too fast and too small!"
Renee Jennings, listening from behind the one-way mirror, felt her expression turn cold. Her voice was laced with irritation. "Does he think that just because Moira Ford is gone, he can say whatever he wants with no one to contradict him?"
