Chapter 326: Chapter 326: Why Is Dating So Hard?
Hearing Renee Jennings say she was going to call the police, Barbie Loweâs expression changed. She feigned composure and said, "Go ahead, call the police. I didnât do it, so Iâm not scared."
"Fine," Michelle Fuller said, turning to Renee. "Renee, letâs call the police then."
"Suit yourselves," Barbie Lowe said haughtily.
Renee took out her phone, and just as she was about to dial, she heard Barbie Loweâs voice.
"My stomach is upset and I feel nauseous. I need to use the restroom."
"Is your stomach really upset, or are you just trying to go to the bathroom to hide the stolen property?" Renee said casually.
Her nerve struck, Barbie Loweâs face instantly darkened, but she still retorted, "I just have an upset stomach. Donât think everyone is as filthy as you just because you have a dirty mind."
"Think weâre framing you?" Michelle Fuller scoffed. "Fine. Open your purse."
Renee had texted her earlier, so she already knew Barbie Lowe had stolen Mr. Fullerâs antique teacup.
"By what right?" Barbie Loweâs hand, clutching her Kelly bag, tightened. "You have no right to search my purse."
Renee spoke calmly, "Michelle, doesnât Mr. Fullerâs study have security cameras? Letâs pull up the footage."
Michelle Fuller blinked, instantly catching on. "Oh, right! I almost forgot we could check the security footage. Youâre the smart one, Renee."
Sean Fuller raised a hand and scratched his head, still wondering when Mr. Fuller had installed security cameras in his study. âHow come I didnât know about this?â
Barbie Loweâs heart skipped a beat, and panic seized her.
âDamn it, I made sure to check the whole room just now. I didnât see any cameras!â
âDid they install a pinhole camera?â
Barbie Lowe swallowed hard, struggled internally for a moment, then stared resentfully at Renee and Michelle.
"Let me just pull up the security footage," Michelle said, making a show of taking out her phone.
Barbie Lowe closed her eyes and said through gritted teeth, "Enough!"
She unzipped her purse, pulled out a small teacup, and slammed it on the table with a chagrined expression, roaring hysterically, "Are you satisfied now?"
After yelling, she spun around to leave. But she was in such a hurry that she twisted her ankle in her high heels. She stumbled a few steps, failed to regain her balance, and took a hard tumble.
When Sean Fuller saw this, he hurried forward.
Michelle Fuller frowned at the sight.
Barbie Lowe was so angry her eyes were red. Just as she was about to get up from the floor, she suddenly felt a shadow fall over her.
She looked up and saw Sean Fullerâs handsome face.
A thought instantly flashed through Barbie Loweâs mind: âThis moronic rich boy has a soft spot for me after all!â
"Sean..." she called his name softly.
Sean Fullerâs brows furrowed, his voice tinged with displeasure. "Barbie Lowe, I just remembered something. You still owe me a hundred thousand."
Barbie Loweâs expression suddenly froze, a look of disbelief flashing in her eyes. "You..."
Michelle Fuller and Renee both breathed a sigh of relief.
âThank goodness. The kidâs finally gotten smarter.â
"Iâll let the other money and gifts slide," Sean Fuller said seriously. "But you borrowed this hundred thousand from me. You have to pay it back."
Barbie Lowe scrambled up from the floor and shouted in anger, "Sean Fuller, are you even a man? How dare you ask me for money!"
"What does that have to do with anything?" Sean Fuller frowned, his voice growing stern. "Are you going to pay me back or not? If you donât, Iâll post our chat history online."
"You!" Barbie Lowe pointed a finger at his face, her eyes filled with hatred. "Youâre disgusting."
Sean Fuller raised an eyebrow at that, finding it funny. "Am I? More than you?"
âHe actually didnât mind that she was divorced with a son. What he couldnât accept was her deliberate deceptionâclaiming sheâd never even been in a relationship before.â
Barbie Lowe was practically seething with rage.
Michelle Fuller shoved her phone in Barbieâs face, recording her. "Hurry up and pay my brother back."
"Stop filming!" Barbie Lowe roared, her face contorted with rage. She roughly yanked her phone out of her purse and, with a grim expression, transferred the hundred thousand to Sean Fullerâs WeChat. She glared at him. "Such a poor sport. A complete waste of my damn time!"
After saying that, she turned to leave again, and this time she didnât fall.
Sean Fuller accepted the transfer, blocked Barbie Lowe on WeChat, then looked up, his eyes filled with disgust as he watched her retreating figure.
"Oh, little brother." Michelle patted his shoulder and said earnestly, "What would you do without us?"
Sean Fullerâs brows furrowed tightly, his lips pressed into a thin line. He felt awful and dejected. "I just want to be in a relationship. Why is it so hard?"
**
Renee left Mr. Fullerâs house and drove to a pet store near Linus Hollisâs house.
The four kittens from before were being boarded at the pet store, and it had been almost a week.
Renee planned to take them back to Eastgate Villa and find them good homes during her next livestream.
After a week of meticulous care at the pet store, the kittens had changed. Originally, they had been skinny, filthy, and their fur was a matted, tangled mess. While they werenât exactly radiant now, they were much cleaner and tidier, and they had put on some weight.
The kittens were overjoyed to see Renee.
They thought they would never see her again.
Renee brought them home and said to Blueberry, "Theyâll be staying with us for a while. Theyâll leave when someone adopts them."
Blueberry wasnât the jealous type anymore.
Hearing Reneeâs words, it nodded its fluffy head and promised earnestly, "Donât worry, Renee. Iâll definitely take good care of them."
"I trust you completely," Renee said, the corners of her lips turning up.
The four kittens used to be strays and didnât have their own names.
Renee gave them temporary names for now. Once their new owners came along, they could be given more fitting names.
**
The scorching midsummer sun poured through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, but Aria Sinclair felt a damp chill all over her body.
Lately, she had been listless and would often stare blankly into the distance.
She was thinking about Renee Jennings, about her biological daughter.
âWhy would fate play such a cruel trick on me...â
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCKâSuddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Aria Sinclair didnât seem to hear it.
A moment later, there was another knock on the door.
Aria Sinclair pulled herself from her thoughts and slowly turned around.
She opened the door to see Zoe Morganâs beaming face.
Aria Sinclair pursed her lips into a smile. "Vivi, youâre here."
"Sister-in-law," Zoe Morgan said with a light laugh. "I hope Iâm not disturbing you?"
"I already took my afternoon nap," Aria Sinclair said coolly. "Donât you have work today? What brings you here?"
"Sister-in-law, you forgot. Today is Saturday, my day off," Zoe Morgan said as she walked in.
She had originally planned to come last week but had to go on a last-minute business trip. She only got back to Zenvia yesterday.
"I forgot," Aria Sinclair said, as if suddenly realizing. "So itâs the weekend already. Iâve lost track of time."
Zoe Morgan smiled. "Sister-in-law, have you been in a bad mood lately?"
"Who told you that?" Aria Sinclair asked.
"Who else would I have heard it from?" Zoe Morganâs tone was tinged with resignation. "From your precious daughter, of course."
