Chapter 332: Chapter 332: She Is a Disgusting Woman
"Are you going to eat it or not?" the man with the buzz cut asked again.
PorkCongee swallowed hard, feeling like the manās next words would beāāIf you donāt eat this, Iāll kill you.ā
"Iāll eat it," she said quickly, pretending to take a bite.
Seeing this, the buzz-cut man frowned. "It doesnāt look like you ate anything."
PorkCongeeās heart raced, her nerves stretched taut. She bit her lip. "I... you... youāre watching me. Itās making me embarrassed to eat."
"Why?"
"Because... because Iām shy."
Hearing this, the buzz-cut manās tight frown relaxed. "Whatās there to be shy about?"
"Because youāre too handsome," PorkCongee fabricated nervously. "Itās normal for me to be shy."
"Alright, then." No man could resist such a compliment. The buzz-cut man finally stood up. "Finish your call quickly and come over for the barbecue."
"Okay, Iāll be quick." PorkCongee forced a smile, only letting out a sigh of relief after watching his retreating back disappear into the distance.
āThis is terrifying.ā
[Oh my god, Iām breaking out in a cold sweat just watching this.]
[Just from those few sentences, I can tell heās got some serious psychological issues.]
[I get the feeling this guy is a total control freak.]
[I wonder if he committed intentional homicide or manslaughter?]
"If his sentence was for ten years or more, we can rule out manslaughter," Renee Jennings said softly.
[Holy crap, so it was premeditated murder... Thatās despicable!]
[Poor Joey, going on a blind date with a murderer.]
PorkCongee saw the comments and was on the verge of tears. "Iām so scared."
"This is just speculation for now; we canāt be sure of the real situation yet," Renee Jennings said in a gentle voice. "Donāt be afraid. First, send me your address in a private message."
She suddenly thought of something and added, "Send me your blind dateās name, too."
"I have a picture of his ID card," PorkCongee said. "Iāll send it all to you."
Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow slightly. "That would be perfect."
[How do you have a picture of his ID?]
[Can you look up his criminal record with that?]
PorkCongee sent the campsite address and the picture of the buzz-cut manās ID card to Renee Jennings in a private message.
She switched back to the livestream and saw the bullet comments were all curious about why she had a photo of the manās ID.
PorkCongee looked around before explaining, "He sent the ID photo to me himself, said it was to introduce himself. Oh, and I just glanced at his IDāit was issued just a few days ago."
[That means he just got out of prison a few days ago....]
[Sigh, guess we have to be more careful with blind dates from now on.]
[You canāt even fully trust acquaintances.]
[Who introduces themselves by sending a picture of their ID... so creepy.]
Renee Jennings muted her mic, made a call to Henry Stark, then unmuted herself and spoke. "Joey, Iāve already called the police for you. Donāt be scared."
"Okay," PorkCongee said, her voice choked with sobs. "Thank you, Renee. Itās a good thing my call connected today, or else I donāt even want to think about what might have happened."
"Donāt mention it," Renee Jennings chuckled lightly. "It just means we were fated to connect."
"This is such a relief." PorkCongeeās eyes were red, and her voice was thick with nasality. "So, should I just stay here? That guy keeps looking over at me. Iām so scared heās going to come back."
"Go over there for now," Renee Jennings said calmly. "And lock your phone screen."
"Okay, I understand." PorkCongee nodded obediently. "Iāll go over now."
She tossed the chicken cartilage onto the grass and stood up, holding the leash.
PorkCongee felt a deep resistance, and her steps were especially slow.
Back under the camping tentās awning, her friendās sister smiled at her. "Melody, why were you squatting over there for so long? Didnāt you get bitten by mosquitoes?"
"Iām fine, there arenāt many mosquitoes," PorkCongee said, stiffly sitting down next to her friendās sister.
"Thatās good." The sister smiled. "I was worried."
Before, PorkCongee would have found her concern thoughtful. Now, knowing it came with an ulterior motive, she just felt disgusted.
She pursed her lips and said nothing.
"Are you thirsty? Let me pour you a drink," the sister said gently.
PorkCongee shook her head. "No thanks, sis. Iām not thirsty."
"Okay." The sister nodded. "Let me know if you get thirsty."
PorkCongee: "Okay."
The buzz-cut man silently grilled a chicken wing skewer and handed it to her. "Eat it while itās hot."
PorkCongee frowned slightly, then heard her friendās sisterās teasing laugh.
"Oh my, Donovan, youāre playing favorites! Iāve been sitting here all this time, and I havenāt seen you grill a single skewer for me."
PorkCongee: "..."
A wave of nausea washed over her. She pressed her lips together and kept quiet.
Hearing this, Donovan Grant retorted, "Sis, I just grilled a bunch of skewers and put them over there. Didnāt you eat them all?"
The friendās sister: "..."
The smile on her face froze. āSo tactless,ā she cursed him inwardly, then forced a laugh. "Well, thatās different. You didnāt grill those especially for me; they were for everyone."
"If you want it, sis, you can have this chicken wing," PorkCongee said, seizing the opportunity.
The friendās sister: "Oh no, I couldnāt. Donovan grilled this especially for you, Melody. I canāt be so tactless."
"It was grilled to be eaten. Itās the same no matter who eats it. If you like it, sis, you should have it." PorkCongee placed the two chicken wings onto her friendās sisterās plate.
"What do you want to eat?" Donovan Grant asked, looking at her.
PorkCongee shook her head. "Iām not eating anymore, Iām full. If I get hungry later, Iāll grill something myself."
Donovan Grant heard this and didnāt say anything.
"Donovan, arenāt you going to ask Melody for a walk?" the friendās sister suggested. "The view here at night is so romantic."
PorkCongee pressed her lips together, furious.
To think she had once considered Fiona Lee a good ābig sister.ā Now, she just saw her as a disgusting woman.
āShe knows sheās pushing me into a pit of fire, and sheās doing it anyway!ā
PorkCongee spoke up before Donovan Grant could. "These shoes Iām wearing today are rubbing my feet. I canāt walk."
"Your shoes are rubbing your feet?" Fiona Lee asked.
PorkCongee: "Yeah, my feet were already killing me after walking Beanie just now."
"Donovan, what are you standing there for?" Fiona Lee looked at Donovan Grant. "Hurry up and take a look for Melody."
PorkCongee: "..."
āIs she nuts?ā
Fortunately, Donovan Grant had spent so many years in prison that his mind had become slow, making it difficult for him to understand what people really meant.
He stared at Fiona Lee, his tone laced with confusion. "What good would it do for me to look? Iām not a doctor."
Fiona Lee: "..."
She was truly speechless.
Seeing her get shut down, PorkCongeeās lips curled into a slight smile.
A moment later, she heard Renee Jenningsās voice through her earpiece. "Joey, get ready. The police are almost there."
PorkCongeeās eyes lit up as if sheād seen a ray of hope. She covered her mouth and whispered back, "I know."
"Melody, come on." An idea sparked in Fiona Leeās eyes as she picked up two glasses of wine. "Letās have a drink, just us girls."
