Chapter 424: Chapter 424: "Sean Quinn, You Are Under Arrest.
Sean Quinn laughed. "Then you should definitely eat it."
âBecause this will be the last cake you ever eat.â
"I really canât bring myself to eat it," Renee Jennings said in a low voice.
Sean Quinn felt this girl was more deprived of love than any he had ever met. She couldnât even bring herself to eat a simple cake.
âItâs just as she said. A pretty face, but an ugly fate.â
âFine, donât eat it then.â
He raised his wrist to look at the time. It was just past four, still a while before sunset.
Sean Quinn turned to the girl beside him. "Stella, tell me whatâs troubling you."
"My motherâs behavior causes me so much pain." Renee Jennings lowered her head. "Iâm her daughter, but she always sides with outsiders against me."
"She lost some moneyâmy cousin stole itâbut she blamed me... just because I bought a new phone." Renee Jennings covered her face with one hand, her voice choked with sobs. "There are so many other things like this... I just donât understand..."
Sean Quinn listened quietly, the corners of his mouth curling into a smile.
âHe loved nothing more than hearing about othersâ suffering.â
After she finished speaking, Renee Jennings seemed to have a sudden breakdown, viciously slamming the cake in her other hand onto the ground. "Iâm in so much pain..."
Sean Quinnâs expression shifted. "Didnât you say you couldnât bring yourself to eat the cake?" he demanded in a low, harsh voice. "Why smash it?"
"I donât know!" Renee Jennings screamed. "I donât know anything, so stop asking me!"
The weather turned in an instant. Moments before, the sun had been shining brightly, but now a torrential downpour began.
With this weather, it was clear there would be no sunset to admire.
Sean Quinnâs eyes narrowed. He grabbed the nearby fruit knife. "Stella, since youâre in so much pain, let me help you find release!"
He suddenly grabbed Renee Jenningsâs hand and started dragging her toward the sea.
"What are you doing?" Renee Jennings asked, her long hair soaked by the rain, her expression panicked. "Youâre hurting me!"
Sean Quinn said nothing, dragging her all the way into the ocean.
He stared at Renee Jennings, his eyes burning with a crazed and sinister light. "Whatâs a little pain like this?"
Renee Jennings looked at the fruit knife glinting coldly in his hand. "What is this supposed to mean?"
"Stella, didnât you want me to help you?" Sean Quinn said softly. "Iâm about to help you right now."
"You..." Renee Jennings feigned terror. "What exactly are you going to do?"
Sean Quinn savored her miserable expression and smiled. "Donât you think you have an ugly fate? Well, Iâll let you start your life anew."
He toyed with the fruit knife, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "You girls... Every time I see one of you, I want to kill one!"
The rain came on fast, but it stopped just as quickly.
"Why?" Renee Jennings asked coldly. "Whatâs wrong with girls like us?"
Sean Quinn suddenly felt she was somehow different from before, though he couldnât quite put his finger on it.
"You girls only know how to play the victim and act pathetic." Sean Quinn gripped the fruit knife tightly and lunged, stabbing at her body. "Itâs absolutely disgusting."
Sean Quinnâs brow furrowed, and he glanced down.
âHis fruit knife hadnât pierced her body?â
âHow is this possible?â
Renee Jennings was wearing the special body armor Henry Stark had given her, which was not only bulletproof but also stab-resistant.
"Sean Quinn," Renee Jennings said in a low, serious voice, "why did you kill Rui Tucker?"
Hearing this, a stunned expression immediately appeared on Sean Quinnâs face. "You know Rui Tucker?"
"She was my roommate."
"Your roommate?" The man laughed. "Is there something wrong with your dorm? Does everyone who moves in have a terrible fate?"
"Why did you kill her?"
"Because she deserved to die, of course!" A crazed smile played on Sean Quinnâs lips. "Donât be in a hurry. Youâll be joining her soon enough! I didnât just kill her; Iâm going to stab you to death, too. She deserved to die, and so do you!"
He raised the fruit knife again, but felt resistance as he tried to drive it into Renee Jenningsâs body.
"What are you wearing?" Sean Quinnâs face contorted with rage as he realized what was happening. "You really deserve to die!"
His eyes fell on Renee Jenningsâs long, fair neck. "Die!" he snarled through gritted teeth.
Henry Stark and the others watched this scene, their hearts in their throats.
He raised his pistol, aiming for Sean Quinnâs right shoulder.
The fruit knife in Sean Quinnâs hand shot toward Renee Jenningsâs neck, only to be stopped by a slender hand.
Renee Jennings grabbed his wrist and gave it a casual, effortless twist.
Sean Quinnâs face instantly contorted in pain. He cried out as the sharp fruit knife fell into the seawater with a SPLASH.
Renee Jennings twisted his arm behind him, forcing him down into the water. "Sean Quinn, why do you target these fragile, sensitive girls? As far as I know, Rui Tucker never did anything to you."
"Even if she never did anything to me, she still deserved to die!" Sean Quinn struggled with all his might, but was shocked to discover he was no match for this girl.
"Then what about Sherry Zane?" Renee Jennings increased the pressure. "Why did you manipulate her into jumping to her death?"
When Sean Quinn heard her mention that name, his struggles suddenly ceased, his eyes filled with astonishment.
"Who are you?" His voice held a slight tremor. "Youâre not Stella... Who the hell are you?"
âA moment ago, heâd only thought she was Rui Tuckerâs roommate, so of course it was normal for her to know Rui.â
âBut when she mentioned Sherry Zaneâs name, he suddenly realized something was wrong.â
âIf she knew Rui Tucker and knew he had killed her, why would she have followed his instructions to come here?â
Renee Jennings didnât answer him. The others who had been hidden in the shadows quickly moved to her side.
Henry Stark said softly, "Good work."
Renee Jennings shook her head.
Sean Quinn looked at the people who had suddenly appeared, a deep sense of unease washing over him. "Are you...?"
Henry Stark pressed his gun to Sean Quinnâs head, his voice chillingly cold. "Sean Quinn, youâre under arrest."
Kyle Morgan immediately slapped handcuffs on him.
As Sean Quinn was being loaded into the car, his face was still a mask of shock.
âHe thought his methods were seamless. How could the police have possibly targeted him?â
Henry Stark drove, while Kyle Morgan and Zachary Conway sat on either side of Sean Quinn, watching him. Renee Jennings and Sawyer took a separate car back.
Sean Quinn recovered from his shock, his expression turning ugly. "Why are you arresting me? On what grounds?"
No one answered him.
No one wanted to waste their breath on a monster.
"Are you cold?" Sawyer turned on the heat and glanced at Renee Jennings. "Here, use some tissues to dry your hair a bit. Weâll head to my place first so you can get a hot shower."
Her apartment was closer to the station.
"Okay." Renee Jennings didnât argue, and started drying her hair with the tissues.
Sawyer said with a sigh, "You really had to go through it back there. I was worried sick."
"It was pretty disgusting," Renee Jennings said, pressing her lips together. She then asked, "Did you get the part where he tried to stab me on camera?"
"We got it, we got it," Sawyer said quickly. "Weâll make sure he rots in prison for this!"
"Hearing what he said back there... I feel like something must have happened to him to make him harbor such deep-seated hatred for fragile, sensitive girls." Renee Jennings paused, her expression turning grave. "And I suspect the number of girls heâs harmed isnât small."
