Chapter 437: Chapter 437: A Faceful of Coffee
Serena Tucker lifted her finger from the voice message button and explained, "Rosalie Young is a college classmate of a guy I went to high school with."
Renee Jennings asked, "So, are you close to this guy from high school?"
"Weāre on decent terms," Serena Tucker said. "Heās pretty good friends with my cousin."
Renee Jennings looked her in the eye. "So, do you think you should confront Rosalie Young in person?"
Serena Tucker nodded, her expression serious. "Absolutely. Iād also like to give her a couple of slaps right then and there."
"Then letās hurry up and get our makeup and clothes done," Michelle Fuller said, rubbing her hands together.
Renee Jennings glanced at her, a wry smile flickering in her eyes.
An hour later, the four women, dressed in chic and edgy outfits, headed out.
Meanwhile, Rosalie Young had already arrived early at the afternoon tea restaurant Serena Tucker had booked.
Inside a private room of the restaurant on the 66th floor, the marble floors were spotless, and a dazzling crystal chandelier cast down a fractured brilliance. Outside the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, white clouds seemed close enough to touch, drifting slowly by like fluffy cotton candy.
Rosalie Young had already taken about a hundred selfies.
She sorted through them, deleting some and selecting others, then raised her phone for another selfie.
Apparently dissatisfied with the angles, she called a waiter over. "You, come here and take a picture for me."
The waiter took the photo for her, but she was still unsatisfied, even scolding them, "Youāre terrible at this! How could you make me look so ugly?"
The waiter opened their mouth, but in the end, swallowed the words āYouāre just ugly to begin withā and meekly said, "Iām very sorry."
"Unbelievable," Rosalie Young said, glaring at them angrily. "Forget it, forget it. I canāt be bothered with you."
When Renee Jennings and the others arrived, Rosalie Young was holding a cup of coffee, striking a pose for a photo.
Seeing Serena Tucker, Rosalie Young immediately put down her coffee, smiled, and waved. "Yara, over here!"
Serena Tucker strode up to her in high heels, glanced at the coffee on the table, and a sarcastic smile played on her lips. "Weāre not even here yet, and youāve already started?"
"Huh?" Rosalie Young looked lost. "I just ordered a cup of coffee..."
āItās not like I ordered food.ā
"Since you love coffee so much, Iāll let you have your fill." Serena Tucker sneered, then picked up the cup and splashed its contents directly in her face.
Caught off guard, Rosalie Young got a face full of coffee. The liquid seeped between her eyelashes and into her eyes.
"AHH!" she shrieked, hastily pressing her hands to her eyes. "What are you doing?!"
Nestled in Renee Jenningsās arms, Potato meowed with excitement. āNice one! Mama got her good! Keep going, Mama!ā
Rosalie Young fumbled for a few tissues to wipe her face.
She was wearing a white satin slip dress, which was now splattered with coffee, making her look utterly wretched.
Rosalie Young suppressed her rage and looked at Serena. "Yara, what is wrong with you?"
Serena Tucker looked down on her, shoving her black handbag in her face. "Why did you take secret pictures of me changing?"
Rosalie Youngās pupils trembled. A wave of panic hit her, and she quickly denied it. "I didnāt! Yara, why would you suddenly say something like that?"
"You didnāt?" Serena Tucker stared at her, wishing she could tear her to pieces. She then picked up a glass of water and threw it in her face. "Youāre disgusting!"
Rosalie Youngās temper flared. Wiping the water from her face, she snapped, "Serena Tucker, how dare you accuse me of something I didnāt do?"
"Stop denying it." Serena Tuckerās eyes were filled with disgust. "Not only did you secretly photograph me changing, but you also stole my jewelry."
Hearing that last part, the color drained from Rosalie Youngās face. "Do... do you have proof?"
"What do you think?" Sylvia Brooks said coldly. "If we didnāt have proof, we wouldnāt be acting this way today."
Rosalie Young opened her mouth but was speechless.
"Talk," Renee Jennings said, settling onto the sofa with Potato in her arms. Her cool gaze landed on Rosalieās filthy face. "Who told you to get close to Serena, secretly film her changing, and steal her jewelry?"
"I didnāt! Stop making baseless accusations!" Rosalie Young was still in denial.
Michelle Fuller scoffed, pulled a flash drive from her purse, and threw it in Rosalieās face. "The proof is right here. Are you going to confess, or should we hand this over to the police?"
The flash drive hit Rosalie Young in the face, making it sting with pain. But she had no time to see if it had left a red mark; she could only stare in terror at the small device on the carpet.
āHow could there be proof?ā
"Why do you think Iād dare bring someone I barely know into my home?" Serena Tuckerās lips curled into a contemptuous smile. "My house is full of hidden micro-cameras, precisely to guard against people like you."
Hearing this, Rosalie Young was sick with regret.
"You have two choices now," Sylvia Brooks said calmly. "You can either come clean right here, or you can go to the police station."
"I..." The mention of the police station scared Rosalie Young to death. How could she possibly remain calm? "Iāll talk! Iāll tell you everything! Please, just let me go. Donāt call the police..."
"Fine." Serena Tucker crossed her arms and said coldly, "Talk."
"It was Silas Page. He paid me to do it," Rosalie Young explained in a small voice. "Silas Page said he liked you and wanted me to get close to you, become your best friend, and help him learn your likes and dislikes. That way, it would be easier for him to win you over..."
"Silas Page?" Serena Tucker frowned. She hadnāt expected it to actually be him. "He was the one who told you to secretly film me changing?"
Silas Page was the high school classmate who had introduced her to Rosalie Young.
Rosalie Young nodded eagerly. "Yes! If he hadnāt asked me to, why would I ever do something like that?"
In reality, Silas Page had initially only asked her to take some candid photos of Serena Tuckerās daily life.
Wanting to get more money out of him, Rosalie Young pretended to have "accidentally" filmed something more intimate and sent it to him.
After seeing the video, Silas Page didnāt say a word, but the amount of money he transferred to her increased significantly.
She instantly understood what he wanted. From then on, every time she came over, she would take more revealing photos and videos of Serena Tucker.
āBut of course, she couldnāt admit the truth now. It was all Silas Pageās fault, anyway. She was just doing a job for money.ā
Rosalie Young studied Serena Tuckerās expression and asked tentatively, "Iāve told you everything. Can I go now?"
"Not so fast." Sylvia Brooks gently pushed her back down, a faint, unreadable smile on her face. "And the jewelry Serena lost... did Silas Page tell you to steal that, too?"
Rosalie Young nodded vigorously. "Yes, yes! Silas Page ordered me to do all of it! You should go ask him for it. It has nothing to do with me."
Renee Jennings had the waiter bring a pen and paper. With a slight lift of her chin, she said coolly, "Write down what you stole."
Rosalie Young wrung her hands, trying to play the victim. "It really has nothing to do with me. Weāre all women here, canāt you cut me some slack? I was forced to earn money this way. My mom is seriously ill and needs a lot of money for surgery..."
"Write," Serena Tucker said in a low voice, not buying her bullshit for a second. "Weāll ask Silas Page whether you had anything to do with it when he gets here."
Hearing that Silas Page was coming, the color instantly drained from Rosalie Youngās face again, and her heart filled with dread.
