Chapter 442: Chapter 442: The Mistake Made That Drunken Night
Jenny wiped her tears and sobbed, "Iâm going to text my boyfriend and break up with him right now."
"Okay." Renee Jennings nodded slightly, agreeing that it was the right thing to do.
[Are you sure you want to break up?]
[But thatâs not fair to your boyfriend. He has nothing to do with this.]
Jenny saw the comments and explained with a serious expression, "But if I disregard my momâs feelings and insist on this marriage, wouldnât that be even more unfair to my mom?"
"To be honest, and I donât care if people flame me for this, my boyfriend is definitely not as important as my mom. Iâve only known him for a year and a half. My mom worked so hard to raise me for over twenty years."
"Exactly," said Renee Jennings. "A mother whoâs good to you is someone to be cherished."
"Exactly!" After speaking, Jenny switched to her messaging app and sent her boyfriend the breakup message.
After sending those words, she suddenly felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
Back in the livestream, Jenny wiped away her tears and said with a smile, "Host, thank you for your help. Otherwise, I might have gone against my mom, thinking she was being unreasonable."
"Youâre welcome," Renee Jennings said, her lips curling into a slight smile. "Iâm also very happy I could help you."
"Host, Iâll sign off now, so I donât hold up the next person." Jenny waved, proactively ended the call, and sent a "Bright Stars" gift worth 520 yuan.
After sending the gift, Jenny left the livestream, picked up Dada, and started walking home. "Dada, letâs go home."
She had made a special trip to her parentsâ house yesterday to pick up Dada, saying sheâd look after him for a few days. She hadnât expected to get through on her first day of camping the stream.
Jennyâs mother was applying a face mask. Seeing her daughter arrive at this hour, she was quite surprised. "Nellie, why are you here so late?"
Seeing Dada in her arms, she added with a hint of resignation, "Did Dada give you trouble?"
"No." Jenny shook her head, placed Dada on the sofa, her voice already choked with tears. "Mom, Iâm sorry."
Jennyâs motherâs heart lurched. She ripped off her face mask and looked at her daughter with a worried frown. "Nellie, whatâs wrong?"
Hearing the commotion, Jennyâs father ran out of his room. "Whatâs going on?"
Jenny looked over, her eyes blurry with tears, and said accusingly, "Dad, youâre horrible! How could you bully Mom?"
Her words left Jennyâs father completely bewildered. "Nellie, what are you talking about? I donât understand."
"I know everything!" Jenny hugged her mother, glaring angrily at her father. "I know all about you and William Rothâs mother!"
Hearing this, Jennyâs mother looked at her daughter in shock. "Nellie, how do you know about this?"
Jennyâs father instinctively assumed his wife had told her, but hearing her ask that, he was suddenly filled with confusion.
âHow does our daughter know? Who told her?â
Jenny didnât answer. She just squeezed her motherâs hand and said, her heart aching, "Mom, I didnât know about any of this. If I had known, I would have taken you away with me that day..."
She took a deep breath. "Mom, donât worry. Iâve already broken up with William."
"You broke up with William?" Jennyâs father asked, surprised. "Did he agree?"
He didnât seem to approve. "Nellie, this is an issue between the older generation. You and William donât need to..."
"Dad!" Jenny cut him off, her eyes filled with disapproval, her tone firm. "Williamâs mother was your first love. I donât care if your affection for him is just an extension of your feelings for her. But I will absolutely not become the daughter-in-law of the person who hurt my mother!"
"You..." Jennyâs fatherâs expression turned ugly. He frowned and said, "What kind of nonsense is that? What do you mean my affection for William is an extension of my feelings for her? I have no relationship and no contact with his mother now!"
"Fine!" Jenny nodded, her tone softening. "Dad, I hope you wonât do anything to hurt Mom again. Iâm a grown-up now, and I can take care of Mom. If you wrong her again, I will stand by her side without a momentâs hesitation!"
Listening to her daughterâs words, Jennyâs mother was already streaming tears, her heart filled with emotion.
All her years of hardship and perseverance had finally allowed her daughter to blossom into a strong, brave flower.
Jennyâs father closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Then, he said slowly and earnestly, word by word, "Nellie, donât worry. I promise you, I will never make that mistake again."
He also cherished this little family that he had carefully maintained for so many years.
His first love was indeed someone he could never forget, but that one drunken night where heâd made a mistake had filled him with lifelong regret.
He was truly grateful that his wife was willing to give him a chance to make amends.

Renee Jennings took calls from two more viewers. By the time she ended the stream, it was already two in the morning.
She and Michelle Fuller went back to their room to rest. Just as they lay down, Sean Fuller sent a message.
Michelle Fuller read the message and raised an eyebrow. "Renee, Hank says Chad has agreed. Heâs asking when youâre free."
"The sooner, the better," said Renee Jennings.
âThere havenât been any new cases these past two days, but you never know when something urgent might come up.â
"Okay," Michelle Fuller agreed. After replying to Sean Fuller, she asked, "What time are we getting up tomorrow to take Zane and Jasmine out to play?"
Renee Jennings said, "Not too early. Letâs sleep in until ten-thirty."
âEven if Yuri Sullivan goes out with Dora Archer tomorrow, theyâll probably only get a room at night.â
The next day, when Renee Jennings and Michelle Fuller woke up and came downstairs, they saw Zane and Jasmine sitting on the sofa, all dressed and ready to go.
The moment they saw the two women were awake, the little onesâ eyes lit up, and they chirped their greetings excitedly.
"Auntie, Sister Michelle, good morning!"
"Auntie, Sister Michelle, did you sleep well?"
"Good morning, Zane and Jasmine. We slept great." Michelle Fuller walked over, sat down beside them, and took out her phone. "Come on, letâs see where you want to go play."
She looked up a few places suitable for kids and finally chose an indoor family play park. The temperature today was over 100 degrees, and the ground temperature was even higher. You felt like you would melt the second you stepped outside.
âIn this kind of weather, itâs best to just stay somewhere with air conditioning.â
The family play park had a family-friendly restaurant inside, so Renee Jennings and Michelle Fuller took the two kids to eat first before they started playing.
At 5:30 PM, the two adults and two children left the play park. They found a restaurant for dinner that happened to be close to where Diana Jennings worked, so she came over after her shift.
After dinner, they were planning to walk around the area when Sean Fuller happened to call.
Michelle Fuller picked up. "Whatâs up?"
Sean Fuller: "Sis, are you still with Renee right now?"
Michelle Fuller: "Yeah, why?"
"Chad just called me. He said Dora Archer suddenly asked him to go see a movie," Sean Fuller said. "Theyâll probably get a room after the movie. Do you guys have time?"
Michelle Fuller immediately relayed the situation to Renee Jennings. "Wanna go?"
"Yes." Renee Jenningsâs lips curled into a slight smile. "As it happens, I was just thinking I wanted to see a movie."
Michelle Fuller grinned. "Alright then, Iâll have Hank book the movie tickets."
