Chapter 560: Chapter 560: Her Husband Is Your Husband
Leoâs words made Renee Jenningsâs brows furrow.
âFanny, stealing her employerâs husband...â
âFanny seems so simple and honest. Would she really do something like that?â
Renee Jennings didnât voice this thought. Instead, she continued communicating with Leo.
"So whatâs going on? Can you tell me the details? If you do a good job, Iâll give you a treat as a reward."
Leoâs dark brown eyes suddenly lit up. He barked excitedly, "WOOF WOOF WOOF~ I want beef jerky!"
"Deal," said Renee Jennings.
Leo: "WOOF WOOF WOOF! My owner always says, âFanny is just a useless country woman, and a damn stutterer at that. What makes her deserve such a great husband?â"
âHuh?â
âThat sounds even stranger,â Renee Jennings thought.
âWho is stealing whose husband, exactly?â
Leo continued barking, "My owner says, âSooner or later, Iâm going to make you a husband that belongs only to me!â"
Renee Jennings understood now.
It wasnât Fanny stealing Miss Donovanâs husband. It was Fannyâs husband cheating on her with Miss Donovan.
Remembering that Fanny had said her husband helped her find this job, Renee Jennings thought the man was a real bastard. How could he make his own wife work as a nanny for his Number Three?
"Fanny, is Miss Donovan married?" Renee Jennings asked.
Fanny said, "Ma-married."
"Have you met her husband, then?"
"No."
[Why is the streamer suddenly asking about this? Does it have something to do with Miss Donovanâs husband?]
[Whatâs going on? Iâm so curious!]
Renee Jennings pursed her lips and said softly, "I need to ask a few more questions. Everyone, please wait a moment."
She looked at the Shiba Inu on the split screen. "Leo, was it your owner who specifically requested Fanny to come work here?"
"WOOF WOOF WOOF!" Leo answered enthusiastically. "There used to be another nanny at home, but she quit, and then..."
Miss Donovan sat on Fannyâs husbandâs lap, whining coquettishly, "Without a nanny in the house, I have to do everything myself. Itâs made my hands all rough."
"Where are they rough?" Fannyâs husband squeezed the womanâs hand, amused. "They still feel silky smooth to me."
"Compared to that stuttering hag you have at home, of course theyâre smooth," Miss Donovan pouted. "Honey, when are you finally going to divorce her?"
Fannyâs husband sighed. "I canât divorce her just yet. This is a critical time for my promotion. I canât have any negative rumors spreading, or all my previous efforts will be wasted."
"Then what about me?" Miss Donovan complained in a delicate voice. "Am I supposed to just keep following you like this, with no official status?"
"I know this is hard on you." Fannyâs husband soothed her for a bit, then changed the subject. "Go pick a nanny from a housekeeping agency. Iâll pay her salary."
"Why go to an agency to pick one?" Miss Donovan said in a soft, cloying tone. "Honey, donât you have a ready-made one at home?"
Fannyâs husband was stunned for a moment. "You want her to be your nanny?"
"Canât I?" Miss Donovanâs finger traced circles on the manâs chest. "Honey, donât you think it would be thrilling? She works for me during the day, and you sleep here with me at night, in the bed she made for us..."
Fannyâs husbandâs Adamâs apple bobbed a few times. He actually found the idea had a certain appeal. "Fine, Iâll arrange it."
"And thatâs how it happened," Leo finished.
An indescribable expression washed over Renee Jenningsâs face.
âFanny is so unlucky to have a husband like that.â
[Is that it? Is Leo done talking?]
[Ms. Jennings, hurry up and translate for us!]
[Is there a problem with the employerâs husband? Is he into Fanny?]
[Huh? If the employerâs husband is into Fanny, shouldnât the employer be happy to let Fanny quit? Why wonât she agree?]
Fanny, squatting to the side, saw these comments and quickly said, "Iâm in-innocent. Iâve ne-never even m-met the employerâs hus-husband."
The audience let their imaginations run wild and started guessing.
[Thatâs even weirder! Why on earth would the employer do this?]
[Could it be that Fanny unintentionally offended the employer, and the employer is holding a grudge?]
[Giving Fanny such a hard time... she must have really gotten on her bad side.]
Renee Jennings pursed her lips and said softly, "Fanny, this isnât a small matter. You might need to brace yourself."
Fanny moved her phone, turning the camera back to her own face, and nodded. "Okay, Iâm re-ready."
Renee Jennings looked at the plain face on the split screen and slowly began to speak. "The truth is... Miss Donovanâs husband is your husband."
Fannyâs expression froze instantly.
[HUH???]
[What the hell? The same husband?]
[Thatâs a line I never thought Iâd hear. I was so shocked I dropped my spicy chips!]
[Is it bigamy or cheating?]
[Whoâs the Number Three and whoâs the original wife?]
The audienceâs comments flooded the screen one after another.
Fanny finally snapped out of her shock.
Staring at the phone screen with red-rimmed eyes, she felt as if an invisible hand were squeezing her heart, making it hard to breathe.
A moment later, Fanny raised a hand to cover her mouth, her shoulders trembling slightly as suppressed sobs escaped her throat.
Renee Jennings couldnât bear to watch.
[Isnât it obvious who the Number Three and the original wife are? Who would be willing to make their Number Three work as a nanny for the original wife, just to be tormented by her?]
[Damn, if thatâs the case, Fannyâs husband is a real scumbag. So disgusting!]
[Iâm speechless. Humiliating his own wife like this?]
"Fanny, are you okay?" Renee Jennings asked her cautiously.
Fanny sniffled, hastily wiped the tears from her face, and spoke with a thick, nasal voice, "Ms. Jennings, wh-why did my hus-husband make-make me come here? D-do you know?"
"I do. Leo told me everything." Renee Jennings repeated Leoâs words without omitting a single detail.
âIt was cruel for Fanny to hear thisâlike death by a thousand cuts,â Renee thought. âBut if I kept it from her, how could she ever see the truth and choose the right path for herself?â
[That goddamn son of a bitch! Heâs absolutely vile!]
[Miss Donovan is no saint either. There are thousands of men in the world. Why did she have to pick Fannyâs husband?]
[Miss Donovan is disgusting too, actually demanding that the manâs wife come and slave away for her!]
[In the end, the man is even more disgusting. If he hadnât cheated and hadnât agreed to it, Fanny wouldnât have to be tormented by the Number Three!]
The audience was furious, all speaking out against the injustice done to Fanny.
Fanny broke down in tears once more.
But this time, she pulled herself together quickly.
Fanny wiped away her tears and looked at Renee Jennings pleadingly, her voice filled with helplessness. "Ms. Jennings, wh-what should I do?"
"Fanny, do you want a divorce?" Renee Jennings asked gently.
Fanny nodded solemnly. "A divorce! I de-definitely want a divorce!"
For the past few months, she had been working at Miss Donovanâs house, enduring endless harassment and humiliation.
She wanted to quit, but that heartless bastard of a man told her that Miss Donovan knew his boss and could help his career, so he told her to keep Miss Donovan happy.
