Chapter 577: Chapter 577: "Looks Good, Love to See It, Want More!
Renee Jennings and Diana Jennings arrived at the Old Place.
This was a small tavern opened by Faye Wyattâs elementary school classmate, hidden in a priceless siheyuan courtyard. Under the gray-tiled eaves, a plaque was carved with two words: Old Place.
Inside the small tavern, a house band was playing and singing gentle old songs.
Upon entering the siheyuan, most of the tables and chairs in the main courtyard were empty. Only three or five tables of guests were quietly and intently listening to the music.
Faye Wyatt had called ahead to reserve a spot. When a waitress with her hair in a bun came up to ask, she heard the familiar name and immediately broke into a smile.
"Oh, youâre Wendyâs guests. This way, please."
The waitress with the bun led the two to the west wing.
Sylvia Brooks was already sitting inside. Seeing the two enter, she immediately stood up to greet them. "Diana, Renee, youâre here."
"Summer," Diana Jennings greeted with a smile.
Renee Jennings took out her phone and sent a WeChat message to Michelle Fuller: [Weâre here.]
She scanned the QR code on the table with her phone and looked up to ask Sylvia Brooks, "Have you ordered a drink yet?"
"Not yet." Sylvia Brooks shook her head.
"Then see what you want to drink." Renee Jennings handed her the phone.
Sylvia Brooks ordered a Margarita and handed the phone to Diana Jennings. "Diana, your turn."
Diana Jennings ordered a Mojito and returned the phone. "Renee, itâs your turn."
"Okay." Renee Jennings took the phone and chose a B-52, which she had never tried before. "What should I get for Michelle? A Maidenâs Prayer?"
When it was Faye Wyattâs turn, she thought carefully for a moment. "Faye gets a Possessiveness."
The two arrived at the Old Place one after the other.
Five cocktails were already on the table.
Renee Jennings explained, "I took the liberty of ordering a Possessiveness for Faye, and Michelleâs is a Maidenâs Prayer."
Faye Wyatt sat down and raised an eyebrow at her in the flickering light. "Renee, thatâs a bit on the nose. I get what you mean~"
"Hm?" Renee Jennings blinked innocently. "What do you mean?"
"You want to possess me," Faye Wyatt said, her words startlingly bold.
Renee Jenningsâs face slowly grew warm. She smiled, raised her glass, and clinked it against Fayeâs.
Michelle Fuller joined in the fun. "Renee, I get what you mean, too!"
Renee Jennings raised her eyebrows slightly and asked with a smile, "Explain?"
"Itâs obvious." Michelle Fuller cradled her glass, feigning shyness. "Youâre saying Iâm your maidenâs prayer."
The others present burst into peals of laughter.
Renee Jennings nodded with a straight face. "Mm, thatâs a very reasonable explanation."
"Sigh," Sylvia Brooks suddenly lamented.
"Summer, whatâs wrong?" Diana Jennings, sitting beside her, looked at her with concern.
Hearing this, the others all turned to look at Sylvia Brooks, their eyes asking what was the matter.
"I have regrets."
"Regret what?" Michelle Fuller asked.
Sylvia Brooks: "I regret not letting Renee order a drink for me."
Renee Jennings didnât know whether to laugh or cry. "Is it too late to order one now?"
"Itâs not too late," Sylvia Brooks said, nodding seriously. "After I finish this one."
"Okay," Renee Jennings said. "Iâll remember that."
Half an hour later, with their drinks nearly finished, Renee Jennings scanned the QR code again. "Iâm ordering a drink for Summer. Sis, do you want me to order one for you?"
"Yes," Diana Jennings replied with a slight nod.
Renee Jennings ordered an "Around the World" for Sylvia Brooks and a "Tequila Sunrise" for Diana Jennings.
The waitress brought the drinks over, and Sylvia Brooks and Diana Jennings exchanged a look.
"Renee wants to go around the world with me."
"She wants to watch the sunrise with me."
Renee Jennings gave them both a thumbs-up. "Iâm so lucky, to have four great beauties all at once."
"I call being the first wife," Michelle Fuller said. She had been drinking, and her cheeks were slightly flushed. She playfully puffed out her chest. "Because mine are bigger."
Faye Wyatt stared at her chest for a few seconds and said seriously, "Michelle, Iâm not trying to put you down, but when it comes to big chests, Bellaâs are bigger."
Diana Jenningsâs face instantly turned red. She subconsciously hunched her shoulders. "No, theyâre... not that big."
Knowing her reserved nature, Faye Wyatt didnât tease her further. She offered a couple of compliments with a smile, then changed the subject. "Renee, did Aria Sinclair contact you tonight?"
Renee Jennings swallowed a bite of grilled beef and nodded. "She called me. Said sheâs going to buy a house tomorrow and wants to give it to me."
"Whoâd want her stupid house," Michelle Fuller snorted. "Doesnât she know you live in Eastgate Villa?"
Renee Jennings blinked. "I donât know."
Faye Wyatt asked softly, "So what did you say to her?"
"I said..." Renee Jennings recounted the phone conversation from earlier.
Michelle Fuller immediately cheered with excitement. "Renee, youâre awesome! Iâm loving this drama~"
"Itâs good, I love it, I want more!" Sylvia Brooks raised her hand and gave her a high-five.
In contrast, Faye Wyattâs expression was more complicated. Her gaze darkened, and her lips pressed into a thin line.
Zoe Morgan was her friend.
A friend she considered exceptionally important.
But the things Zoe Morgan had done had left her utterly disappointed.
Scheming against her own brother, niece, and sister-in-law... all to satisfy her own selfish desires.
"Faye, are you going tomorrow?" Michelle Fuller asked, noticing she was spacing out, and looked at her expectantly.
"I..." Faye Wyatt hesitated, her gaze dropping. "I donât know yet," she said in a low voice.
Michelle Fuller then turned to Diana Jennings. "Diana, are you going?"
"It wouldnât be appropriate for me to go." Diana Jennings shook her head gently. "Besides, I have to be with Zane and Jasmine tomorrow."
"Oh, okay." Michelle Fuller nodded with regret, then her face brightened. "Itâs okay, Diana! Iâll share all the gossip with you guys after I see it!"
âHow would Aria Sinclair deal with the sister-in-law who had schemed against her whole family?â
At 1:30 in the morning, the driver Faye Wyatt had arranged was already waiting at the entrance of the Old Place.
Because they were going with Renee Jennings to watch the drama unfold tomorrow, Michelle Fuller and Sylvia Brooks were staying the night at Eastgate Villa.
ăThe next dayă
The three, fast asleep, were woken not by the sunlight, but by the ringing of a phone.
Michelle Fuller fumbled for her phone and cracked open one eye to look at the screen.
12:30.
The caller was Sean Fuller.
Renee Jennings groggily lifted her head. "Whose phone is ringing?"
Sylvia Brooks slowly sat up and looked at Michelle Fuller, who was holding the phone.
"So sleepy." Michelle Fuller hung up the phone and fell back to sleep.
Renee Jennings and Sylvia Brooks, however, were gradually losing their sleepiness.
Just as they stretched, a phone rang again, but it was a different ringtone.
This time it was Renee Jenningsâs phone.
She grabbed her phone, glanced at the caller ID, and answered directly, "Hank, whatâs wrong?"
"Renee, that Yvonne Morgan girl sent me a WeChat message saying she doesnât want to live anymore. What do I do?"
Renee Jennings frowned and said softly, "Then just console her like you did before and see what sheâs really after."
"Huh? But it feels so gross now," Sean Fuller said, somewhat resistant.
"Itâs fine. Then just ignore her."
"Well, Iâll... Iâll give it a try."
"Okay. If you canât do it, donât force yourself."
After hanging up, Sean Fuller reluctantly typed a few words back: [Why the sudden change of heart?]
âFuck, thatâs a typo.â
He quickly retracted the message and edited it again, changing "change of heart" to "give up on life."
