Chapter 604: Chapter 604: Your Home is So Comfortable
Renee pursed her lips into a smile. "Zephyr says youâre handsome."
Henry Stark raised an eyebrow slightly, a faint smile playing on his thin lips. "He has good taste, then."
Zephyr chirped proudly, "Of course I do!"
Henry Stark took a locator and a camera out of a black tool bag.
Renee picked up the locator and beckoned to Zephyr. "Come here."
"What for?" Zephyr asked, confused.
"Like I just told you, I need to put these two things on you," Renee explained. "Youâll fly to where that human male is, and weâll take a look at the situation."
Zephyr asked hesitantly, "If you put this on a falcon, will the falcon die?"
Hearing this, Renee explained with an amused laugh, "You wonât die. Itâs just tied to you. It wonât hurt."
"It wonât hurt?" Zephyr was finally relieved. "Okay, good. Thatâs good."
"So can I put them on you now?"
Zephyr nodded his head.
Soon, Renee had fastened the locator and the camera to Zephyrâs claw and neck, respectively.
"All set."
Zephyr looked down curiously. "Is this the high-tech stuff from your human world?"
"Just a bit of gadgetry, not really high-tech," Renee said with a smile.
"So can I go now?" Zephyr asked.
Renee nodded. "Yes. We can now see where you are, what you see, and what you hear through my phone."
"How amazing!" Zephyr exclaimed, then flapped his wings and flew toward the door.
Renee did something on her phone, and the feed from Zephyrâs camera appeared on the large screen in the living room.
After flying out of the villa, Zephyr shot straight into the sky. The screen showed nothing but a blurry darkness as the fierce whistle of the wind clearly conveyed its astonishing speed, as if it were tearing the air apart.
Michelle Fuller grabbed a bag of taro chips and started eating again.
Sean Fuller wanted to play on his phone, but he had just picked it up when he threw it away again.
"Whatâs wrong?" Michelle turned to look at him. "Donât want your phone anymore?"
Sean Fuller sighed. "Yvonne Morgan texted me again. Sheâs so annoying."
"What did she send this time?" Michelle held out her hand to him.
Sean bent down, picked up the phone from the carpet, and handed it over.
Michelle tapped it open and immediately started laughing.
Seeing this, Renee raised an eyebrow. "What did Yvonne Morgan send?"
"A handwritten letter." Michelle couldnât stop laughing. "A love poem. See for yourself."
Renee took the phone and looked closely, her brow furrowing slightly. A strange expression crossed her face.
"Renee, you reply," Michelle said with a laugh.
"Okay." Renee agreed, typed out a few words, and sent them.
Renee (as Sean Fuller): [My heartâs pounding...]
Michelle leaned over for a look. "Talk about a half-assed reply, hahaha."
Renee raised an eyebrow and looked up to see some pinpricks of light appearing on the TV screen, looking like the lights of houses.
But in the blink of an eye, the tiny light sources were magnified instantly.
Zephyr was getting closer and closer to the buildings.
A few seconds later, he folded his wings and landed on a windowsill.
Amidst the whistling wind, Renee heard Zephyrâs chirping call.
"Renee, this is it. The human is tied up in here."
The room was dim, and only the vague outlines of some furniture were visible.
Zephyr: "The lights are off now. When it was bright during the day, I could see very clearly."
Renee glanced at the location displayed on her phone and said softly, "Heâs at Aethelgard Estates, Phase Two."
Henry Stark immediately searched for the location on a map. "Itâs in the Glavan District. A high-end residential complex."
Zephyr flew to another position, and a huge floor-to-ceiling window appeared in the frame.
Inside, a few downlights were on, casting a warm yellow glow on a man in a bathrobe. He sat on a black sofa with his hair still wet.
The man in the bathrobe held a glass of red wine, his eyes slightly narrowed, looking quite content and comfortable.
Zephyr: "Heâs the one I reported. Heâs a total psycho."
The camera could only capture the manâs side profile. He was drinking continuously, one glass of red wine after another.
After finishing his wine, the man in the bathrobe stood up and disappeared from the frame.
Zephyr took flight again.
He returned to the previous window. Inside, a dim wall lamp had been turned on, just bright enough to make out the scene.
A man with medium-length hair was tied to a wooden stool, his mouth sealed with black duct tape.
The man in the bathrobe walked over, grabbed the other manâs hair, and a sinister smile appeared on his face. "Levi Brooks, your place is really comfortable. I like it a lot."
The man named Levi Brooks glared at him resentfully.
"Want to say something?" The man in the bathrobe ripped off the tape. "Go ahead."
Levi Brooks grimaced in pain and cursed viciously, "Gregory Dawson, youâre a fucking piece of shit! Untie me, now!"
Gregory Dawson didnât get angry. Instead, he burst into a crazed laugh. "Youâre right, I am a piece of shit. And why am I a piece of shit...? Itâs all because you people forced me to be!"
"What did I ever force you to do?" Levi demanded, incensed.
"I just asked you to let me stay for a few days!" Gregoryâs expression instantly turned savage. "Was that so hard?"
"Why should I let you stay?" Leviâs brow furrowed tightly, finding the idea ridiculous. "I have nothing to do with you!"
"Who says we have nothing to do with each other?" Gregory leaned in close, patting his face. "Levi Brooks, who are you kidding?"
Levi looked baffled. "What on earth are you talking about?"
"Weâre brothers, Levi." Gregory gave a sinister laugh.
"Iâm no brother of yours."
"Is that so? Did they never tell you about the time your dad got drunk, came to my house, and slept with my mom?"
Levi found it utterly baffling. "Are you insane?"
Gregory said coldly, "Weâre half-brothers. Whatâs wrong with me staying at your place for a few days?"
Levi didnât say a word, finding the whole thing absurd.
âMy fatherâs a teetotaler. How could he possibly get drunk?â
"You donât believe me?" Gregory threw his head back and laughed, then quickly turned serious again. "If you donât believe me, why donât you call your dad and ask?"
An idea occurred to Levi, and he nodded. "Fine. Untie me, and Iâll call and get to the bottom of this."
"Sure," Gregory agreed, then roared, "Do you take me for a fucking idiot?"
Zephyrâs small body trembled, startled by the sudden shout.
âThat scared me to death!â
"No need to ask." Gregory cracked his neck, his tone dripping with mockery. "It doesnât matter if you believe me or not. The point is, I like it here, and Iâm not leaving."
The color drained from Leviâs face, and his heart sank.
After a few seconds, he took a deep breath and spoke in a calmer voice, "Gregory Dawson, if you insist on staying, then I agree. But can you untie me first? I havenât eaten all day."
"Oh, youâre hungry?" Gregory put on a concerned expression.
Levi nodded. "Iâm very hungry. Just let me get something to eat. And my cat needs to eat, too."
