Chapter 548: Chapter 549: Is This the World of the Strong?_1
"Lord Aiden, you faithless scoundrel! A fickle heartbreaker!!" Filleās protest, brimming with dissatisfaction, came out of the blue.
Aiden turned to look at Fille, seeing her pouting at him with a wronged expression and replied indifferently, "Havenāt seen you for a few days, and youāre stirring up trouble again? Quite capable, arenāt you?"
"Whoās stirring up trouble?" Fille knocked on the prison door and protested loudly, "I heard that youāve found yourself another lover behind my back!"
"First, I donāt have any lover. Second, even if I did, that would be my freedom, which has nothing to do with you, so there is no ābehind your backā or not," retorted Aiden, unfazed. "Third, where did you hear such rumors, huh?"
"Just admit it, has there been an incredibly beautiful woman coming to see you every day recently, bringing you flowers and expensive gifts?" Fille uncharacteristically stood up to Aiden with confidence.
"That statement isnāt quite accurate," Aiden raised a finger.
"Are you saying thatās not true?" Fille faltered slightly.
"Actually, she even proposed to me," Aiden added.
"That bitch plans to sleep with you just after meeting? Sheās delusional, thinking she can surpass even me!" Filleās eyes widened.
"She proposed," corrected Aiden.
"Itās the same thing!"
"Itās not the same thing. How come everything you say sounds so improper?" Aiden couldnāt help but frown.
"Anyway, you canāt just skip over me and go on a date with that woman! My pride absolutely wonāt allow a man to be unmoved by my seduction and ignore me for another woman!" Fille declared, her eyes aflame.
"Arenāt you misusing your pride?" Aiden commented dryly.
"I donāt care! In any case, I forbid you to see that woman!" Fille glared at Aiden, declaring decisively.
"But Iāve already made plans to have dinner with her this weekend," Aiden responded.
"What!?" Fille was agape. "What am I supposed to do?"
"What are you supposed to do? Continue to sit in jail." Aiden replied matter-of-factly, "After all, youāre just trying to catch me out, pretending as if there are real feelings involved."
Suddenly, Filleās eyes widened in shock. After two seconds of silence, her lips quivered slightly, "Why... would you say something so hurtful?"
"Iām just stating facts," Aiden replied casually.
"Lord Aiden, why do you always think of me that way..." Fille reached up to twirl a lock of hair by her forehead, pouting.
Then suddenly, without warning, tears streamed down her face.
"What are you doing?" Aiden looked at her in surprise.
"Eh? Why am I..." Fille seemed startled by her own tears, raised her hand to wipe the corner of her eye, but the tears became more exaggerated as they flowed, "Why is this happening?"
"You..." Aiden was stunned.
"Haha, how ridiculous... Someone like me, actually having real feelings, just like a fool," Fille tried to force a smile, but failed, continuing to wipe away her tears, "Someone like me, how could I be qualified to sincerely like someone? Even if I said it out loud, nobody would believe it... sob sob..."
Fille began to cry and sob, her tears flowing as profoundly as her sorrow.
With hands behind his back, Aiden stood in place, his face ashen, saying nothing.
The surroundings suddenly quieted down, only for a voice to emerge from one of the cells: "Scumbag!"
That call served as a cue, and hisses began to rise and fall all around.
Filleās pitiable appearance moved many inmates, and Aiden, who had made her cry, instantly became the womenās arch-enemy.
"Enough, stop crying," Aiden tried to speak gently to comfort Fille, but she continued sniffling, crying so hard that her eyes turned red and swollen.
"I know, itās my fault. Even though I canāt return your feelings, but... I can give you some compensation," Aiden whispered softly. He thought for a moment as if he was making up his mind, "Iāll find a way to get you a reduced sentence, and... I will help you as much as I can in the future."
"The warden?" Flandre looked at Aiden in shock.
Aiden gestured to stop her and continued speaking to Fille in a soft voice: "So, stop crying."
This was the first time he had spoken to her in such a tone.
Sniffling, Fille lifted her tear-blurred eyes and asked softly, "Really?"
Aiden smiled gently, stepped forward, and reached his hand through the bars as if to wipe away Filleās tears: "This expression really doesnāt suit you at all."
"Warden Aiden..." Filleās lips trembled, and her tear-filled eyes reflected Aidenās face, blurred through her tears.
At that moment, Aiden suddenly grabbed one of Filleās hands, which she was using to wipe her tears, and yanked it out.
"Ah, that hurts!" Filleās body slammed against the bars, and she instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but Aidenās grip was strong on her wrist.
Before anyone else could react, Aiden brought his nose close to Filleās fingers and sniffed: "The smell of onions."
Filleās face instantly changed.
"You rubbed it on your hands beforehand? Going through such lengths to get some tears, not afraid of your eyes swelling up?" Aiden stared at Fille as he spoke.
"Wha-what are you talking about, Warden Aiden?" Filleās complexion stiffened as she spoke.
"Plan number three, right?" Aidenās face revealed a "kind" smile.

Filleās expression twitched: "How did you know?"
She had a premonition that today she might have to come clean here.
"Youāve been in here five times, and your file here has been added to four times. As a cunning repeat offender like you, I would naturally request the most detailed related files. Do you think the police havenāt thoroughly investigated the business methods of your shop?" Aiden stared at Fille and slowly continued, "The succubi in your shop occasionally use this āgenuine emotionā acting to move clients, to make them become utterly devoted patrons until their wallets are emptied and then find a suitable reason to distance themselves. Thatās your often-used so-called āPlan number three.ā If it wasnāt for the fact that the circumstances didnāt meet the criteria, you would have been prosecuted for fraud long ago!"
"You..." Filleās eyes widened, "You were playing me!?"
"It was you who played me first!!" Aiden retorted righteously.
"What about the terms you just mentioned?" Fille demanded, eyes wide, "You promised."
"Sorry, I didnāt promise anything, and didnāt you ask me āreallyā? I havenāt answered yet..." Aiden responded as if it was the most natural thing, "Of course itās false. Not applying for an increased sentence for you is already my mercy!"
The inmates who had just been fooled by Filleās acting fell silent, some still completely befuddled and not having processed what had happened.
Is this... the world of the strong?
