“So soon?” Luo Ziling was taken aback to hear that Ling Zhengping was ready to take up a post in the south and that it was happening immediately. He found the efficiency of the special departments hard to imagine. “Could this have been arranged in advance?”

Ling Ruonan hesitated, then decided to reveal some confidential information, “The position of the administrative head of Yue Province has been vacant for a long time, and many have been eyeing it. Great Grandfather wanted Ling Zhengping there too, but he was reluctant because he didn’t want to be the second in command. After everything that’s happened, he doesn’t have much choice but to accept. Once Great Grandfather’s word was out, the decision was quickly made, and the order was issued. Since the position has been open for over a month, he naturally has to assume his post promptly.”

“I understand!” Luo Ziling replied, though he didn’t fully grasp the situation. He was aware that there must be many other things he didn’t know.

He simply didn’t want to ask or probe too much.
