Seeing Luo Ziling exhausted on the ground, Phoenix was initially filled with gratitude, but after hearing Luo Ziling’s command, that grateful feeling flew away instantly. She really wanted to walk up to him and give him a few fierce kicks, then strut away.

But in the end, she still went over to Luo Ziling and lifted him up with one pull.

“Hey, what are you doing?” Luo Ziling lowered his voice and said sternly: “How can you treat your savior like this?”

Because there was movement beside her, Lin Lan’s eyelids twitched a few times.

“Peacock, go back to sleep, I’m here,” Phoenix whispered, then patted Lin Lan’s arm, causing Lin Lan’s eyes, which were slightly open, to close again.

After a hot shower, Luo Ziling also changed into the hotel’s bathrobe.

Phoenix was sitting at the edge of Lin Lan’s bed, with Lin Lan still sleeping.

Luo Ziling sat down right beside Phoenix and said unabashedly, “Why do you always have to cause me trouble?”

“You could choose not to save us,” Phoenix said, still a bit angry inside.

“I did it not for your sake, but for Lin Lan’s. She’s my friend!”

“Or perhaps your lover!”

With that single remark, Luo Ziling was left speechless, not knowing what to say.

He glanced at Lin Lan, then back at Phoenix, with a look of fury about to erupt, and said viciously to Phoenix, “That’s right, she’s my lover. Since I often help you out, have you ever considered being my lover too?”

Phoenix’s face instantly turned frosty. She turned her head and gave Luo Ziling an angry glare, then spat out fiercely, “Do you even know how to write the word ‘death’?”

“Of course,” Luo Ziling said nonchalantly: “A horizontal line and then a ‘dusk’ character without the top line, with a ‘dagger’ symbol on the right. My elementary school teacher taught me that early on. Surprising that you’ve grown so big yet don’t know how to write it—could it be that a PE teacher taught you Chinese back then?”

Phoenix almost laughed at Luo Ziling’s words, and somewhere a thousand miles away, the old man with graying hair, in his late fifties, who had once been Phoenix’s PE teacher, got unintentionally caught in the crossfire, coughing violently in his sleep.

Seeing Phoenix looking both angry and annoyed, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but laugh. With a swift move, he touched her beautiful cheek and quickly leaned in close to her before she could react, preventing her from moving.

“You have to tell me, what exactly happened? Why is Lin Lan injured again? Let me tell you, if anything happens to her, I won’t let you off! I have ten thousand ways to kill you, don’t move—I’ve smeared a deadly poison on your face, without the antidote you’ll die within two hours.”

“Do you believe I could shoot you right now?” Phoenix growled in frustrated embarrassment, “Don’t think that just because you helped us you can do whatever you want.”

But Luo Ziling didn’t take her seriously at all, and with a quick move, subdued Phoenix, “I hate women who repay kindness with malice the most. After helping you so much, this is how you treat me.”

“Ah…” Phoenix never anticipated that Luo Ziling could actually immobilize her by hitting an acupoint on her waist. She let out a startled cry and immediately lost all her strength.
