Capítulo 2288: Chapter 2288: It’s a Pity, Great Grandfather, That You Never Saw Me in a Different Light

As they walked into the yard, Huang Chen softly said, “The head treats me well!”

When he said this, he looked quite moved.

“Congratulations!” Luo Ziling chuckled, “We’ll be seeing each other often.”

“There will still be many times when I’ll need your help, Ziling!”

“No problem!” Luo Ziling replied generously, “We are all friends, helping each other is only right. If you need any help, just let me know!”

Huang Chen smiled but didn’t say more.

Ling Jinhua was drinking tea in the yard.

The weather was hot, and staying indoors felt stifling. Other than sleeping, Ling Jinhua was mostly outside.

He felt suffocated if he stayed indoors too long.

Today’s temperature was quite high, at thirty-five degrees, the meteorological office issued a high-temperature alert.

However, Ling Jinhua still wore long sleeves, completely unlike Luo Ziling’s cool short outfit.

“Great Grandfather, I haven’t visited you in many days!” Luo Ziling smiled as he greeted, and without waiting for Ling Jinhua to say anything, he sat down quickly, saying in a flattering manner, “I’ve been busy preparing for the final exams lately, and just finished them, handed in the paper early and came to see you. Tomorrow, I’ll be heading to Hengdian, it might take a few days before I come back, and after that, I have to go to the Northwest with Grandpa to gather herbs. So, I ask for your forgiveness.”

“You’re not busy with exams, you’re busy scheming against people!” Ling Jinhua watched Luo Ziling calmly, without blaming his casualness, “You’re quite capable, almost turned Yanjing upside down.”

As Ling Jinhua said this, Huang Chen had already left the yard.

“Great Grandfather, you’re too kind!” Luo Ziling responded with a bit of ‘shyness’, “I don’t have the ability to turn Yanjing upside down.”

“No, you completely have that ability. I think, maybe in a few years, even an old man like me will be manipulated by you!” As he spoke, Ling Jinhua’s muddled eyes emitted an unusual brilliance.

This look put pressure on Luo Ziling.

But he didn’t back down, instead, he bravely met Ling Jinhua’s gaze, “Great Grandfather, you’re being too serious. Everything I do is just for self-preservation. Constantly being schemed against, being pursued again and again, I don’t want to die, so I have to desperately protect myself.”

Ling Jinhua didn’t speak immediately, he picked up his teacup and started drinking.

After thinking it over, Luo Ziling continued, “Great Grandfather, how about I check your health to see if you need treatment? I brought my diagnostic tools today!”

When he said the last sentence, Luo Ziling also patted the bag containing the diagnostic equipment placed by his side.

Ling Jinhua didn’t refuse, he held out his hand to Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling carefully examined Ling Jinhua, and after the check-up, instructed him to lie on the vine chair.

Ling Jinhua did as instructed by Luo Ziling and lay down on the vine chair placed in the yard.

But just as Luo Ziling was about to treat him, he spoke again, “What do you want?”

Luo Ziling was momentarily stunned, then he shook his head, “I just want a peaceful living environment, not to be schemed against and pursued all the time!”

“What I’m asking is, in this incident, what do you want to gain?” Ling Jinhua’s gaze became serious,

“Great Grandfather, I really don’t have many such thoughts!” Luo Ziling shook his head, “I know someone wants to harm my father, wants to drive him out of Dragon Rise, so they’re willing to throw mud on me, trying to solidify the guilt by cooperating with me.”

“Do you think, if they really want to solidify your guilt, they’d accuse you of having stains even before cooperating with you? Wouldn’t they take action after having evidence against you?” As he said this, Ling Jinhua squinted his eyes.

This statement puzzled Luo Ziling, but he quickly answered Ling Jinhua’s query, “Not everyone in this world is so smart. Maybe, someone mentioned this in front of Wang Zhengqiang to draw more attention and investigation. Usually, most people can’t withstand scrutiny, they have problems more or less. They didn’t realize, I’m so clean that it scares even myself, they can’t find any evidence to ruin my reputation, surely many people were astonished. So, they miscalculated.”

Ling Jinhua didn’t speak immediately, just quietly watched Luo Ziling.

After pondering, Luo Ziling continued, “They also didn’t expect, when facing the temptation of massive profits, I wouldn’t be a bit tempted. Yan Shiliang is responsible for military logistics, he knows the purchasing profits in this area could be very lucrative. Perhaps he thought I wouldn’t refuse no matter what, so he acted superior in front of me. Unexpectedly, I didn’t show him face, humiliated him directly, he was ashamed and wanted revenge.”

“So how did he continue staying by your side after being humiliated by you?”

“Great Grandfather, you even know this?” Luo Ziling looked surprised at Ling Jinhua, seeing Ling Jinhua looking at him disdainfully, he chuckled and said, “Maybe he figured it out, or was instructed by someone to continue coming back to discuss. After all, the medicine developed by me and Grandpa can sometimes extend a person’s life. Its economic and social benefits are really astonishing.”

“Keep going!” Ling Jinhua gestured for Luo Ziling to stop rushing for the treatment and talk first.

Luo Ziling had no choice but to continue, “Perhaps, my ignorance angered some people, coupled with dissatisfaction with my dad, wanting to drive him out of Dragon Rise, someone took action, using minor issues to make us make mistakes, to catch our flaws. I never expected their action to be so quick, just as Yan Shiliang left, they acted. Unfortunately, the result was not as they wished.”

Ling Jinhua squinted his eyes, looking playfully at Luo Ziling, “Who do you think would target you and your father?”

“Maybe not just one person, but many people, some didn’t plan to act from the start, but decided to exert force seeing the circumstances change. Also possible that some want to seize the opportunity to clear out some disobedient individuals, to avoid trouble. Anyway, after some unwise actions, others started acting for their own purposes, the later result became uncontrollable.” After saying these words, Luo Ziling squinted his eyes at Ling Jinhua, “I wonder if you’re satisfied with my answer, Great Grandfather?”

“You’ve got quite a head on your shoulders!” Ling Jinhua nodded slightly, “No wonder your grandfather treats you with special attention!”

“Unfortunately, Great Grandfather doesn’t view me differently!” Luo Ziling said casually.

This sentence unexpectedly made Ling Jinhua’s expression suddenly serious.

His eyes immediately flashed with brilliance, with a faint murderous aura.

Luo Ziling’s heartbeat quickened instantly.
