Chapter 346: Chapter 187: The Regretful Collector - The Judger Comes Knocking
"The Torch Organization seems to have designs on you," Ulrich said, his expression somber.
Only the two of them were in the room. Li Ming pondered for a moment and decided to remain silent.
Ulrich had maintained a certain tacit understanding with him, never inquiring about his origins, but it seemed that understanding was about to be breached.
"Li Ming, is he your student?" Ulrich asked.
Itâs become public opinion now, hasnât it?
Li Ming was speechless inwardly and frowned slightly, "Your Excellency is also interested in him?"
"No, itâs the Torch Organization thatâs interested in him. You should know the specifics; youâre the only one who can get in touch with him now," Ulrich shook his head, his voice growing heavier, "Iâve almost prepared the materials needed to repair the Material Reorganization Machine."
"I do not wish for any mishap at this critical juncture."
"So..."
Ulrich exuded some pressure, "In an urgent situation, I suggest you hand that Li Ming over to the Torch Organization to prevent them from making an unwise choice."
I hand myself over?
Li Mingâs expression suddenly turned grim, and he replied with an undaunted cold voice, "Your Excellency Ulrich, the Torch Organization is merely a third-rate group scrimmaging within the Star Cluster."
"Heâs not the first trouble Iâve encountered, nor the biggest one, and certainly not the last one!"
"To submit because of this trouble, Collector Your Excellency, you must think too little of me. There is no need to say such things again."
Ulrichâs face remained expressionless, but the aura around him grew increasingly intense.
Li Ming watched the other party quietly. Even though he was quite certain that the other party couldnât possibly take action, his mind was on high alert.
As expected, after a moment, the pressure emanating from Ulrich disappeared, and he laughed, "Your Excellency need not be so angry, I was only making a suggestion. Since youâre unwilling, let it be."
"The Torch Organization, indeed, is not much."
Although Ulrich said as much, he was somewhat uncertain, as it seemed like the other party was not afraid of him taking action at all.
After all, he is an A-level life form. Is the other party bluffing?
If an ordinary B-level life form dared to behave this way toward him, he would naturally have to teach them a lesson.
But this person is a great Mechanic, and itâs entirely possible he has some sort of trick up his sleeve.
For now, he didnât want to fall out with the other party.
Ulrich found the situation increasingly troublesome. Initially, he was quite excited when he met this person, but now the more he learned, the more he regretted it.
Yet he was unwilling to let go and actually cornered himself.
Li Mingâs expression softened as well, "Approximately when can we start repairing the Material Reorganization Machine?"
Ulrich explained, "The materials are almost ready, and the laboratory is being set up. This Floating Island is too rudimentary. When the time comes, weâll go to the laboratory in my castle to carry out the repairs."
"Itâs best not to come out during that time."
His gaze was fixed on the other party. He could have completely omitted the last sentence, which carried implications of house arrest.
But the other partyâs attitude just now made him uncomfortable. He wanted to see if the other party still held any reverence for him.
"Thatâs for the best, itâs safer that way," Li Ming didnât think too much about it, it was almost as he had expected. For something so precious, Ulrich would not let him take it out casually.
Seeing Li Ming agree, Ulrichâs expression relaxed slightly. After exchanging some pleasantries, the Collector finally left the Floating Island.
"Heâs getting a bit anxious..." Li Ming sensed a change in Ulrichâs attitude.
At the beginning, Ulrich seemed confident in handling him, but lately, heâs been probing in various ways.
Perhaps a certain conjecture he had come up with was making him uneasy.
"I wonder if the slightly stirred Star King could kill this guy." Li Mingâs eyes flickered.
The Land of Stars has not been peaceful recently, with the Night Eye Mercenary Group causing chaos everywhere. Most interstellar ruffians have a bad temper to begin with, and many conflicts have erupted amongst them.
But these interstellar ruffians donât have anyone backing them, so if they die, they die in vain. However, that Shadow Concealment star thief has remained out of sight.
Thus, several days passed.
One day, as Li Ming was working on developing a gene seed, he was interrupted by a group of unexpected visitors.
In the central clearing of the Floating Island, he looked at the group in front of him, dressed in pale golden armor, with neat formations, clearly having undergone militaristic training.
The most eye-catching was the golden vertical pupil on each personâs face. The guards surrounding them didnât even dare to look at their pupils.
The people with golden eyes, those from the Judge Civilization, the leader was thin, and even the vertical golden pupil appeared to be longer than the others.
Li Mingâs gaze swept across each of their faces and finally settled on a figure at the end of the line, his lips suddenly drawing a faint smile.
In the view of Intelligent Assistance, the surface of this personâs skin appeared in a weirdly distorted state, but even so, it was hard to discern the true face behind it.
An extremely advanced Mimicry disguise, and not just a simple Mimic Mask.
"Interesting..." Li Ming had guessed the personâs identity. It should be that so-called Shadow Concealment star thiefâSeraad, who had infiltrated the Judgerâs ranks.
This was indeed an excellent choice, for as a part of an advanced civilization, the Judgers naturally wouldnât fear the Land of Stars.
Seraadâs eyes flickered, uncertain why, but he had the feeling that the great Mechanic known as Azure Dragon had lingered a few seconds longer on him.
He had an ominous premonition, a unique environmental sense belonging to the Quantum Shadow Lizard, which had saved his life many times before.
