Chapter 485: Chapter 256: Unexpected Situation Was Li Ming Discovered? - Part 2
He suddenly turned his head and looked around the empty yet narrow room, which appeared orderly, but his face involuntarily showed a trace of panic.
"Whatâs gotten into this guy?" Li Ming muttered to himself from the shadows, observing Des who was looking around in panic.
"Could I have been discovered?" His heart tightened as he opened the Control Page and glanced at the neatly arranged [Twisted Mask].
Right, they all are imbued with Concealing Blessing, he shouldnât be able to notice.
"Come out!" Desâs forehead and palms were sweaty, his face pale as iron: "Stop hiding, Iâve already guessed."
"Every time I prepare to contact Asimara, your Mechanical Body suddenly shows up, is this just a coincidence?"
The room fell into eerie silence, Des sneered: "Still not coming out? What exactly do you want to do, just put it out in the open."
It turns out because of Thunderâs repeated visits, Li Ming suddenly realized and looked at Des, who was calm but sweating profusely on his forehead, Li Ming merely shook his head without any response, just quietly watching.
Minutes passed and the room remained still, Des looked resolute, but he couldnât help but harbor some doubts.
"Did I guess wrong?"
He walked to a corner and pulled out a device which blinked with a red light, and began quickly scanning every corner of the room.
It must be some kind of device specifically for detecting electronic equipment.
After more than an hour, he had meticulously searched every inch of the room, without finding anything.
"Thereâs no signal fluctuation, there must be no surveillance or monitoring." Des seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, sitting on the sofa, feeling a bit reactive.
"Maybe I thought too much, my decision to contact Asimara whenever I wanted was my own idea, unless he could see through my heart, how could he always predict my moves."
Azure Dragon is indeed formidable, but not to the extent of discerning peopleâs thoughts.
"Moreover, with the Twisted Force Field covering most of the room, no surveillance equipment could possibly penetrate."
"Just a coincidence?" Des pondered, still slightly uneasy.
Being a traitor, he had to be extremely cautious in everything he did, such unease was often present.
Yet another thought was persuading him, if Azure Dragon already knew he was contacting Asimara, there was no reason to not expose him.
The two were already adversaries, and the very reason he turned to Asimara was because of the opposing side.
Azure Dragon had no obligation to cover up for him and would probably wish to see him dead.
"Iâm being overly cautious." He shook his head, ever since he contacted Asimara, he often felt paranoid, seeing enemies everywhere.
After gathering his thoughts for a short moment, Des went back to his seat and continued working on the smart terminal.
Des seemed to have convinced himself, Li Ming watched his actions, determining whether the situation would develop as he predicted.
"No..." Suddenly, Des stopped, his brow furrowed, stroking his chin.
This information just came from an experimentalist in the Torch Organization, and it wasnât verified.
If he reported this to Asimara at this juncture, in case something went wrong, wouldnât he be burdened with a huge blame?
Heâd just found a good way out and might cut it off himself.
"Why did he stop again?" Li Ming was surprised, watching Des suddenly stand up and start to erase the operation traces.
He was muttering some meaningless information, Li Ming listened carefully and finally caught a few useful words.
"...No, I need to verify the truth..."
Verify the information?
Li Ming raised his eyebrows, not too surprised.
The news came from a common experimentalist, after the initial excitement faded, it was normal for Des to feel doubtful with his cautious character.
"But, how do you plan to verify it?" Li Ming became interested.
It was impossible for Des to inquire openly.
After erasing the traces, Des turned on the smart terminal, Li Ming tried to peek, but it was very blurry from the shadows.
But a few minutes later, Des came out of the door.
Looking in the direction, it was Brotherâs room.
When he opened the door and looked inside, Brother was lying on the bed, watching virtual images on a virtual screen, with big characters in the upper-left cornerâ[Yitelan Ordinary Songs]
This was a hit virtual drama from the Yitelan Civilization a few years ago, depicting the melodramatic lives of several lower-class Yitelan people.
Their days as Level A life forms were quite boring; there was almost no entertainment here.
Brotherâs injuries had mostly healed, and he was surprised by Desâs arrival: "Why did you suddenly come to see me?"
Des activated the Twisted Force Field, covering them both, and got straight to the point: "After some time, I hope youâll make a big move."
"A big move?" Brother was surprised, then tentatively asked: "How big of a move?"
"Similar to the last time."
"Ah?" Brother looked clearly fearful; he was still traumatized by that slap from Connet.
He felt that if Connet didnât hold back, he could have killed him directly.
Des added: "Donât worry, Iâm not asking you to seek death. If Connet or another senior from the Torch Organization speaks up to stop you, stop immediately."
"This..." Brother was even more puzzled, "What exactly are you trying to do?"
"I want to verify something," Desâs gaze was distant.
"Really blunt..." Li Ming roughly understood Desâs idea.
Since Connet would be leaving the Torch Organization base, create a big disturbance to see if Connet would show up in the end.
If he shows up, then the news was probably false; if Connet doesnât appear, then itâs very likely true, and then inform Asimara.
Though it would be a bit late, the Torch Organizationâs sacrifice wasnât something that could be accomplished in an instant.
"Donât worry, I wonât harm you." Seeing Brother hesitate, Des couldnât help but add.
"I know you wonât harm me." Brother forced a bitter smile.
The two were bound together within the Torch Organization; if something happened to Brother, Des would also have a hard time.
"But who will be the target?" Brother spread his hands, "Sandro is no match for me; he canât possibly tangle with me. Ulrich is too smart; if I provoke him without a reason, he will definitely sense something is off."
"I canât beat Theo, I surely canât go after Bennyâs..."
Halfway through, he looked at Desâs face and hesitated: "Azure Dragon?"
Mentioning that name, Brotherâs expression turned ugly, feeling a hot pain on his cheek, the psychological trauma from that slap was no less than the punch from Connet.
"It has to be him." Des nodded, his expression indifferent: "You have a grudge with him, his Mechanical Body often loiters in the rest area, you can start a fight anytime."
"Can I really fight?" Brother tentatively said, somewhat eager to try, "His Mechanical Body is powerful, but if not for the sneak attack, it would be hard to injure me."
Brother emphasized: "True, he is no match for you in overall strength, this time wear my âApe Boneâ, bring your âFierce Tiger Fistâ."
"Ha!" Brother got excited, "Last time, I didnât expect those two Mechanical Bodies to be so formidable, I didnât bring my weapon, this time I must dismantle those two Mechanical Bodies!"
But then, he hesitated, "But, Theo and the rest, they wonât just watch, right."
Des shook his head, very confident: "Donât worry, as long as you donât threaten Azure Dragonâs life, they wonât intervene."
"Besides, thereâs also unrest among them recently."
"Then thereâs no problem." Brother suddenly stood up, turning to reveal a grim smile.
In the corner of the room, on a metal base glowing with a blue fluorescence, hung a pair of pitch-black metal gauntlets, extending metal structures that seemed to cover the arms, forming dynamic arm guards.
The elbow portion even had metal spikes that could be shot out, the tips glinting sharply, the fists were exceedingly bulky, seemingly with built-in thrusters, the surface engraved with exotic wild beast patterns.
It looked very complicated, which is why Brother usually wouldnât wear it.
