Gu Shengyin obediently finished eating her chicken wings.
Even though it was her first time at He Louâs house, and the first time He Lou cooked for her.
Neither of them felt it was out of place at all.
They were simply like they had a natural understanding, as if theyâd been getting along like this for years.
After dinner, He Lou washed fruit for Gu Shengyin and went to clean up in the kitchen.
Gu Shengyin glanced at the man who was diligently working, and quietly chuckled to herself.
"What are you laughing at?" The sofa beside her sank as He Lou sat down.
Gu Shengyin casually stabbed a piece of cantaloupe and placed it into his mouth: "Iâm laughing because, the youngest General in the Republic, is washing his hands to make a meal for me. Even if I were to tell anyone about this, I doubt theyâd believe it, donât you think?"
Her statement was originally just teasing, but surprisingly, He Lou replied earnestly: "I suppose no one would believe it."
Gu Shengyin paused for a moment, then couldnât help but laugh.
He Lou indulgently watched the woman who was laughing with her belly.
She was very beautiful, bright and radiant, and this unrestrained laughter suited her perfectly.
Though he didnât know why she was suddenly so happy, He Lou was still glad for her.
Gu Shengyin stopped laughing after a while.
She looked at He Lou.
He Lou turned his head to look at her too.
She softly said, "Thank you, He Lou."
He Louâs gaze paused.
He asked her, "Thank me for what?"
Gu Shengyin shook her head and buried her head into He Louâs embrace.
This embrace was warm, safe, and familiar.
She took a deep breath and suddenly said, "I canât wait to become your bride."
He Louâs eyes darkened.
He reached out his hand and gently stroked Gu Shengyinâs soft hair.
"Why did you suddenly say that?"
Gu Shengyin found his hand stroking her long hair very comforting.
She couldnât help but snuggle in, and though she had slept for two hours in the afternoon, she felt sleepy again after dinner.
"No reason, just suddenly felt that I really like you!" Gu Shengyin said, smiling happily in his arms.
Then in the next moment, she sensed her body being turned over.
Her perspective shifted, and she felt weight on top of her.
Their position changed to Gu Shengyin half-lying on the sofa, with He Lou leaning over her.
"Has no one ever told you that saying such things to a man who likes you is dangerous?" He Lou asked, squinting at her.
Gu Shengyin didnât feel scared at all.
She reached out to wrap her arms around his neck, pulling him closer to her.
With their noses almost touching, their breaths mingling: "Oh? Then tell me, what kind of danger?"
He Louâs gaze grew even darker: "Like... loss of chastity."
"Pfft!" Gu Shengyin couldnât help but laugh out loud.
He Louâs words were just too amusing.
He Lou looked at the woman beneath him, her eyes full of mirth, without a hint of worry.
"Youâre really not worried at all?"
Gu Shengyin laughed and said: "Iâm not worried because I know you wouldnât do that."
That matter-of-fact tone made He Louâs heart tremble.
He asked quietly, "Why are you so sure I wouldnât? You should know that menâs self-control is never to be trusted."
Gu Shengyin looked at him: "But youâre different. He Lou, to me, youâre different from anyone else."
