“Everyone is treated equally. I won’t go easy on you,” Gu Jin replied lightly.

Gu Pei: “…” I know you won’t, but I’m worried that this guy Feng Jue is going to give me an even harder time!

The interview itself involved sparring against members of Team Blue Whale.

Since Gu Pei and Feng Jue played the same role, Feng Jue was assigned as his interviewer.

At first, everyone worried that Feng Jue might go easy on Gu Pei out of respect for Gu Yang. But those fears disappeared when they saw Feng Jue use moves on Gu Pei that were even sharper than those he’d used on others. With a mix of relief and sympathy, the group cast pitying looks at Gu Pei.

Being given “special treatment” was likely the price Gu Pei paid for annoying his interviewer.

Increasing the difficulty for Gu Pei was Gu Yang’s idea. First, it was to ease any concerns the other candidates might have, and second, it was to ensure fairness.

After all, Gu Jin and Feng Jue had already given Gu Pei plenty of tips before.

Though Gu Pei was smart enough to understand this reasoning, it didn’t stop him from glaring at Feng Jue with clenched teeth.

The interview spanned from morning to afternoon, with even lunch as a quick takeout in the eSports training room.

By the time the interviews ended, and before Gu Yang announced the results, most already had an idea of the outcome. After all, the games had played out in front of everyone, and as eSports players, they could recognize skill levels easily.

While most were a bit disappointed they hadn’t made the cut to join Team Blue Whale and play alongside their idols, they felt the experience was well worth it to spar with their heroes and receive some advice.

Gu Yang finally announced the results. “Following the selection process, the players joining Team Blue Whale are: Whale Explosion—Gu Pei, Unconstitutional—Qin Xian, and CNM—Chu Nanming.”
