The man didnât dodge or flinch, letting the fist slam into his face.
Seeing the manâs cold, mocking gaze, Si Xie was suddenly struck with a terrible premonition.
"What are you doing?"
Jiang Yunnuan forcefully pushed his fist away. She glared at him furiously and snapped, then turned to look at Jun Yao.
"And you, couldnât you have dodged? Why did you just stand there like a wooden post? Let me see your face."
A flicker of light crossed Jun Yaoâs eyes. He let her cup his face and examine it, his voice calm and gentle as he spoke.
"He resents me. If I had dodged, he wouldnât have been able to vent his anger and would have only gotten angrier. This wouldnât have ended easily today. Itâs better to just let him hit me. Iâm fine."
Si Xie: "..."
âDamn it, where did this bastard learn to play innocent like this?â
âNo wonder he didnât dodge. He was waiting to set a trap for me. What a treacherous, cunning bastard!â
He quickly grabbed Jiang Yunnuanâs arm to explain.
"Donât believe him! Heâs just playing the victim to get your sympathy and drive a wedge between us."
"Shut up. Apologize to Jun Yao right now."
But Jiang Yunnuan wasnât listening.
âAnd he thinks heâs justified in hitting someone?â
âDoes he really think I canât see Jun Yaoâs little scheme?â
âBut what does it matter? Itâs Si Xieâs own fault for being so impulsive. If he wasnât, Jun Yao wouldnât have had the chance to pull this little stunt.â
âI donât even want to get started on this guy. Heâs got such a short fuse, heâll blow up over anything. He knows he canât beat Jun Yao, but he still had to pick a fight. So weak, yet so reckless!â
"And if I donât?"
Si Xie was indignant. It was Jun Yao who set him up by not dodging. âWhat does that have to do with me? I did nothing wrong!â
Jiang Yunnuan sneered. "If you donât apologize, you can go face the wall and think about what youâve done. Donât even think about coming on the mission with us."
âCrap!!!â
Hearing this, Si Xie gritted his teeth, instantly understanding why Jun Yao hadnât dodged.
âThat damned bastard. He took the punch on purpose, just to play the pitiful victim! He wanted to make me look like an unreasonable brute, to make Jiang Yunnuan feel sorry for him and appeal to her sense of justice, all so she would get angry and leave me behind on the mission.â
âDespicable. What a despicable way to compete for her affection!â
âNo way. I absolutely cannot let this guyâs scheme succeed!â
"Fine! Iâll apologize, alright?!"
Despite his reluctance, he forced himself to endure it and apologized in a placating tone.
"Sorry!"
âHe actually apologized?â
An unusual glint flashed across Jun Yaoâs eyes. He felt a pang of regret that his plan had failed, but his expression remained placid as he chose to forgive him.
Seeing his act, Si Xie couldnât stop himself from cursing inwardly, âWhat a pretentious bastard.â
"Alright, this matter is over. But you two listen to me carefully. No fighting from now on, and especially no hitting the face. And if you get into a fight with someone else, youâd better not let them hit you in the face. Is that clear?"
After her warning, she looked at Jun Yao.
There wasnât a mark on his handsome face, but she still tried to placate him by gently rubbing his cheek. She felt guilty for having taken Si Xieâs side and needed to do something to feel at ease.
"Howâs your face? Does it still hurt?"
"Hah! Itâs more likely my fist hurts than his face does!"
Before Jun Yao could reply, Si Xie chimed in with a sneer.
âThat guyâs body is naturally tough. After his genetic evolution, heâs practically made of steel. I barely used any strength in that punch; itâd be a miracle if he felt a thing.â
"Iâm fine. Itâs getting late, we should go."
Jun Yao took her hand, not giving Si Xie so much as a glance.
Seeing this, Si Xieâs eye twitched, and he quickly grabbed her other hand.
"I apologized, and he forgave me. So whatâs the verdict? Are you taking me with you or not?"
"Fine. But remember, Iâm only taking you because you got seriously injured saving me. Itâs definitely *not* so I can touch your ears, you know."
âAs if!!!â
âIâm still going to touch your ears, though. Youâre the one who offered, after all. Itâs not like Iâm forcing you!â
Si Xie: "..."

The new Flying Car was too small to fit all of them, so they used their Task Points to rent a seven-seater Flying Device.
Ming Ye and Fu Yuan sat in the front.
Jun Yao, Jiang Yunnuan, and Si Xie sat in the back, in that order.
The remaining two seats were for supplies.
The Flying Device was moving so fast that everything outside was a blur, making it impossible to see anything clearly.
Jiang Yunnuan gave up on sightseeing, closed her eyes, and leaned back in her seat. Her consciousness entered her spatial farm.
She hadnât been to the farm in two days, and all the crops she had planted before were now ripe.
After harvesting, she planted new crops.
To her delight, the first chicks she had acquired had started laying eggs. Three large eggs sat in the nest.
