In an unnoticed corner, a strange glint flashed across Si Xieâs eyes.
âSo, Jiang Wanwan really has experienced Rebirth. And she has a system, too. She was just talking to it, asking how Jiang Yunnuan could know about her space.â
âUnfortunately, I donât know what the system said.â
âI wonder if Jiang Yunnuanâs secret has been exposed.â
Si Xie clenched his fists. He wanted to tell Jiang Yunnuan about this, but he gritted his teeth and held back.
Jiang Yunnuan had a system of her own; she likely already knew Jiang Wanwan had one, too. Telling her wouldnât accomplish anything and would instead risk exposing his Mind Reading Technique.
It would be a small matter if Jiang Yunnuanâs system discovered his Mind Reading Technique, but if Jiang Wanwanâs system found out, it might deliberately feed him false information in the future.
âIâll just wait and see!â
"Is Sister having an episode? How could she think up something so preposterous?"
Jiang Wanwan smiled faintly and spoke in a calm, unhurried voice.
She knew the old saying all too well: an innocent man gets into trouble only because he possesses a treasure.
The covetous stares from all around made her skin crawl.
If she couldnât properly refute Jiang Yunnuanâs accusations today, she feared countless people would be watching her, both openly and in secret.
She would undoubtedly become everyoneâs target.
Therefore, she had to find a way to deny everything.
"Iâm sure no one in the entire Empire has ever heard of the things Sister just described. If I really had such treasures, I wouldâve used them to improve her aptitude first. She wouldnât still be a laughingstock for the whole world then, would she?"
As soon as she said this, half of the covetous gazes vanished.
They found it much easier to believe that Jiang Yunnuan was losing her mind and spouting incredible nonsense than to believe in the existence of a dimensional space, Elixir Pills, or Divine Artifacts.
Jiang Yunnuan wasnât surprised by this outcome.
Seeing is believing.
She couldnât let everyone see the space with their own eyes, nor could she produce any proof. Therefore, people would be skeptical. If her claims were then forcefully denied, they would be even less likely to believe her.
But it didnât matter. Her goal had never been to definitively prove Jiang Wanwan had a space.
She only ever wanted to shut Ling Ze up, shift the blame, and sow distrust between him and Jiang Wanwan.
And now, she had achieved some small success.
âAs long as I push a little harder, I wonât lose this round.â
"Oh, now thatâs not quite right. In any case, thatâs just what Ling Ze said. How would I know what you do or donât have? If you really donât have those things, then Ling Ze must be the one whoâs seriously ill to come up with such a wild story. What does it have to do with me?"
She firmly pinned the blame on Ling Ze. He couldnât explain himself. The memory of Jiang Wanwanâs suspicious gaze made his blood pressure soar with anger, and his Energy roiled within him.
"Jiang Yunnuan, you still dare spout nonsense?"
He clenched his fist, veins bulging on the back of his hand, looking as if he wanted nothing more than to tear Jiang Yunnuan to shreds.
At the sight, Si Xie quickly reached out and pulled Jiang Yunnuan behind him, shielding her.
He beamed at Ling Ze, his words infuriating enough to kill.
"Oh dear. I know youâve lost face now that you know Nuannuan wasnât actually trying to pursue you, but thereâs no need to be *so* angry~"
"You already have a Contract Master, so why should you care whether my Nuannuan truly likes you? Or are you not satisfied with what you have and still coveting another? Now, that would be wrong of you. Are you sure youâre not afraid of making your Contract Master unhappy?"
With that, he turned to Jiang Wanwan, who stood to the side, and winked, speaking with deliberate provocation.
"Miss Jiang, youâd better keep a close eye on your Contractor. As a fellow Beastman, I can tell he doesnât seem very loyal to you."
"Wanwan, youâre the only one in my heart! Iâve never cared for that good-for-nothing! If you donât believe me, Iâll kill her right now to prove it!"
Slandered beyond repair, Ling Ze knew he couldnât explain his way out of it. His rage skyrocketed. With bloodshot eyes, he looked at Jiang Wanwan with a mix of pained resolve and reluctance as Energy gathered wildly in his palm.
âHoly shit, Iâve gone too far!â
âThis guy is actually going to ignore the Empireâs laws and try to kill me!â
âHeâs an asshole, but heâs genuinely powerful. Heâs already a Second Rank in the Regression Stage. None of us can stop him. Thereâs no other choice. If I have to expose my secrets, so be it. Staying alive is what matters most.â
âThis Divine Artifact Experience Card grants a random Divine Artifact. Even I donât know what Iâll get. But since itâs called a Divine Artifact, it should be able to block a few of his attacks, right?â
Jiang Yunnuanâs brow twitched, and a Divine Artifact Experience Card materialized at her fingertips.
Just then, another burst of Energy, so powerful it seemed tangible, erupted beside her, instantly drawing everyoneâs attention.
Si Xieâs eyes widened in shock.
"Holy shit, when the hell did you break through to the Second Rank of the Regression Stage too?"
