"What kind of talk is that? A man at forty-one is a flower in full bloom. Iâm at the peak of my charm, you get it?"
Huo Shenmingâs defenses were completely shattered. His mature, dignified, handsome face fell, turning grim and sullen. His brows knitted together, making him look quite intimidating.
However, Jun Yao wasnât the least bit intimidated.
He said flatly, "If thereâs nothing, then go back. Iâm exhausted. I donât have the energy to deal with you."
Huo Shenming: "..."
âIf he wasnât doing *that*, then how could the kid be this tired when he hasnât even left the warship?â
âHe hasnât slept for days. What the hell has he been doing?â
Huo Shenming was dying of curiosity. He cleared his throat and spoke.
"Who said thereâs nothing? Iâm here to bring you some people. Youâre a rough guy; youâre definitely not good at taking care of girls."
"See them? I specially selected those two girls to help you take care of your woman. How about that? Iâm pretty good to you, huh?"
His face was an open plea for credit and praise.
Unexpectedly, Jun Yaoâs expression darkened several shades. Without even glancing at the two girls, he gave a merciless rejection.
"Not needed. I will take care of my woman myself. As for those two, send them back to wherever you found them. Donât bother me with this again, or donât blame me for turning hostile!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he forcefully slammed the shipâs door.
CLANG!
Before Huo Shenming could even react, the heavy door sealed shut in front of him with a deafening noise.
Staring at the sealed door, a flash of embarrassment crossed his face. He sighed helplessly, unable to muster any anger.
âThis damn kidâs temperament is exactly the same as his motherâs, who died young.â
ăInside the warship.ă
The light-blocking function was active, casting the interior in a dim, bleak light.
Jun Yao went up to the second floor and entered an exceptionally beautiful room.
In the center of the room was a soft, white canopy bed, where an unconscious girl was sleeping.
The girl had delicate features and a serene expression in her sleep, as beautiful as an angel.
Jun Yao stood by the bed, watching her quietly for a good while. Then, he walked over, sat down on the edge of the bed, and gently traced the lines of her brows and eyes with his finger.
Time passed, minute by minute.
Suddenly, the girlâs eyelids fluttered. Her thick, dark eyelashes, like raven feathers, trembled with the movement.
âIs she waking up?â
A fleeting smile flashed through the manâs icy, translucent white eyes. He then lowered his head and gently kissed her enticing pink lips.
As their lips met, the girl frowned and whimpered. She suddenly opened her eyesâtea-colored irises as clear as glass, filled with confusion.
She stared blankly at the handsome face magnified before her, unable to make sense of the situation.
After a long moment, seeing she neither responded nor resisted, just staring blankly like a wooden post, the man realized she was in a daze.
So, he gave her lip a light nip.
A sharp sting brought her back. The girl immediately frowned and reached out to push him away, but he caught her by the wrists and kissed her more fiercely, like a raging storm.
Her meager strength was completely futile against his. She struggled for a long time but couldnât break free at all.
Her strength depleted, she gave up, panting, and let the man claim and conquer as he pleased.
After some time, she took advantage of a moment when he paused for breath, turning her head to dodge his kiss. Her breathing was ragged as she spoke in a rush.
"Who... Who are you???"
Hearing this, the man wasnât surprised in the least. A flicker of amusement crossed his eyes. He leaned in to place a few light kisses on her neck, his voice muffled as he spoke.
"Me? Iâm the one you love most, of course."
âThe one I love most?â
The girl frowned, her eyes instantly filling with confusion and astonishment. She wracked her brain, trying to remember something, but her mind was a complete blank. There were no memories of him at all.
The realization made her start to panic.
After a pause, she said in a helpless and apprehensive whisper, "But... I donât think I know you..."
She thought he would be angry at her words, but he wasnât.
He lifted his head and looked at her with a gentle expression. Only then did the girl get a clear look at him.
This man had white hair, white eyes, and a pair of soft, beautiful white beast ears on top of his head. His features were sharp and well-defined, handsome to an absurd degree.
âWhat a handsome man!â
âBut how can a person have beast ears?â
âIs he a monster?â
This discovery horrified her. The admiration in her eyes instantly turned to fear, a subtle change the man didnât fail to notice.
However, he didnât seem to mind. He simply smirked, reached out to touch her cheek, and spoke in a low, pleasant voice.
"Do you know who you are, then?"
His words made the girl freeze.
She then realized that not only did she not know him, she didnât even know herself. Her mind was a blank slate; the entire world felt completely alien.
âHow could this be?â
She couldnât be bothered with fear anymore. Looking at the man, she shook her head vigorously and asked in a trembling voice, "Who am I? You must know, right?"
The man had been waiting for her to ask this question. Now, heâd finally heard it.
The smile on his lips deepened, and his voice was so gentle it was almost dripping honey.
"Your name is Wenwen, and you are the person I love most..."
He told her a long story. After listening, the girl finally understood what had happened.
Apparently, her name was Wenwen, she was nineteen years old, and she was his wife. And he was her one and only Beast Husband.
He was a Legion Commander who had come with the army to attack the Land of Calamity. They had been separated for many days, and she missed him so much that she secretly came to find him, wanting to give him a surprise.
Unexpectedly and unfortunately, she was abducted by criminals from Black Wind Valley.
Upon hearing the news, he was enraged. He led his army to storm Black Wind Valley, wiped out all the bandits, and rescued her.
During the chaotic battle, she accidentally hit her head, injuring her brain and causing her to lose her memories.
"Donât be afraid. Your amnesia is only temporary. Once your head heals, youâll be able to remember the past."
He held her in his arms, his gentle and patient voice gradually calming her helpless and unsettled heart.
She nodded lightly, resigned to her reality. As she smelled his scent, she felt a strange sense of security wash over her.
"Can... can you tell me more about our past?"
Her mind felt so empty, and it didnât feel right. She was desperate to fill the void with memories.
âMaybe if I hear enough, I can recover my memories faster.â
"Of course, I can, but not right now. You just woke up, and your head is still injured. Listening to too much will strain your brain and wonât be good for your recovery."
"In a few days, after youâve rested well, Iâll tell you everything, slowly."
Her hopes dashed, the girl was very disappointed, but she didnât feel she could say much more and just gave a sullen "oh."
Seeing her displeasure, his eyes flickered. He reached out and unfastened her clothes with a few quick movements.
"I see you donât seem very happy. Why donât we do something that will make you happy?"
