In the early afternoon, Leon and Rosvisser returned to the Silver Dragon Sanctuary.
In their bedroom study, the two of them sat by the desk. On the table was the ancient tome, *Primordial Magic: Soul Judgment*.
"Who exactly is this Claudia Poseidon from the Sea Dragon Clan?" Leon said, perplexed. "Sheās like some sort of wish-granting genie. Every time we need something, she magically provides it."
Rosvisser frowned slightly, holding her chin as she stared at the worn book. After a moment, she spoke:
"I think instead of figuring out who Claudia is, we should ask ourselves why your master keeps getting his hands on books from the Sea Dragon Clan."
"With *Nine Gates of Hell*, we could brush it off with some careless excuse like āhe sneaked into the Empireās archives and grabbed a random book.ā But this time, itās about Primordial Magic? Thereās no way you get something like that by sheer luck."
Leon had realized this too.
But he couldnāt wrap his head around how that old man managed to acquire not one, but two ancient Sea Dragon Clan books. Even if Tiger had been the Empireās top dragon slayer, that didnāt mean he had connections reaching all the way to the Sea Dragon Clan.
Leon understood that there were many things his master hadnāt told him, and he could accept that. There were countless possible reasonsātiming, unspoken issues, or situations beyond control.
But understanding didnāt make the nagging feeling go away. The feeling of stumbling upon a puzzle you couldnāt solve was... frustrating.
"Thereās no point in asking my master about this," Leon sighed.
Rosvisser raised an eyebrow, amused. "Why do you say that?"
Leon shrugged. "Ever since he adopted me, Iāve never once seen him admit to hiding his stash of secret money, even when there was overwhelming evidenceā"
Leon placed one hand on his hip, scratching his forehead. "Heās stubborn as a mule. The old manās always been like that."
Rosvisser chuckled. "You really do take after him."
"I donāt have a secret stash."
The topic of hidden money has always been a long-standing discussion between married couples. For many men, itās a never-ending challenge of where to hide their secret stash.
But General Leon had no such concernsāhe didnāt need a secret stash. After all, not every man had the chance to marry the Silver Dragon Queen at twenty years old.
"I wasnāt talking about the money."
Rosvisser rolled her eyes. "I meant the stubbornness. Youāre just like your master in that regard."
"Iām not stubborn, dragon lady."
"Mhm."
"You donāt believe me?"
"I believe you."
"Truth or lie?"
"Definitely a lie."
"Oh, youāre asking for itā"
Rosvisser waved her hand dismissively, deciding not to continue the argument about who was more stubborn. Theyād likely be having that debate for the rest of their lives, so there was no need to rush it.
Right now, the important thing wasā
She picked up the ancient book and opened it, her gaze falling on Claudiaās name.
Leon leaned closer. "Since thereās no point in asking my master, weāll have to start by investigating Claudia."
"But we donāt have a legitimate reason to approach her or the Sea Dragon Clan," Rosvisser said. "That clan is extremely protective of their territory. And ever since they cut off contact with the other dragon clans thirty years ago, theyāve essentially become reclusive."
She bit her lip lightly and set the book back on the table. "This is tricky."
Leon patted her shoulder. "Weāll take it one step at a time."
Rosvisser nodded.
The couple decided not to dwell on the ancient tome for now. After spending the morning flying back and forth between the Sanctuary and the borderlands, Rosvisser was feeling a bit tired. Taking advantage of the cozy afternoon sunlight, she returned to the bedroom, changed into a nightgown, and prepared to take a much-needed nap.
Leon, on the other hand, walked toward the door.
Rosvisser leaned against the headboard and called after him. "Where are you going?"
"I donāt know. Maybe for a walk, practice some magic, roll around in the grass... something like that."
"In other words... nothing to do?"
"Pretty much."
"So youād rather roll around in the grass than keep me company during my nap?"
Leon snickered and turned around, arms crossed as he leaned against the bedroom doorframe. "How old are you? Still need someone to keep you company while you nap?"
Rosvisser narrowed her eyes and corrected him seriously, "Not ākeep me companyāāāserve me.ā"
Leon threw his hands up in surrender. "Iām not your servant."
"But you are my captive."
Leon grinned. "Ooh, nice rhyme."
Rosvisser: ā_ā
Leon raised his hands in defeat. "Alright, alright. Iāll come āserveā you during your nap, Your Majesty."
With that, Leon walked back into the room, grabbed a chair, and sat next to the bed, staring at Rosvisser as if he were paying his respects at a memorial.
Rosvisser felt a bit speechless. "Is this how you āserveā someoneās nap? By sitting next to them and staring?"
"What else am I supposed to do?"
After a pause, Leon added with mock seriousness, "I could sing you a lullaby if youād like."
"Huh?"
He cleared his throat. "Little dragon, open the doorā" *Mmph!*
Rosvisser whipped her tail across his mouth. "Change your clothes and get in bed."
"At your command, Your Majesty."
Leon removed his jacket and shoes, then climbed into bed from the other side.
At first, he intended to keep things purely platonic and just take a nap. But Rosvisser had already lifted the blanket with her tail, gesturing for him to come closer.
*Sigh.*
Before the daughters went to school, heād been a stay-at-home dad; now, with the girls away, he had become his wifeās snuggle buddy.
Grumbling internally, Leon slid under the covers.
He wasnāt used to napping, so he still had on his short sleeves and pants. His plan was to lull the dragon queen to sleep, then sneak out.
Since it was still daytime, Leonās face wasnāt quite thick enough to flirt with her as shamelessly as he did at night.
But... Rosvisser had other plans.
"Why are you so far away?"
Her voice was filled with playful laziness, with a hint of intentional pouting. The message was clearā"come closer."
Leon feigned ignorance. "Uh... too close, and itāll get too hot."
"Hot?"
"Yeah, itās really warm."
"Well then..."
Well then, get off the bed and stop killing my mood! ā Leonās imagined retort.
"Well then, take off your clothes, and you wonāt be hot anymore."
As expected, his sly dragon wife was playing her games again.
The soft rustling of her body against the sheets made a faint shuffling sound. Her slender, pale arm lightly pressed against the blanket, delicate like a piece of porcelain glowing in the afternoon sunlight.
After finishing her sentence, she slowly withdrew her arm under the blanket, inching it closer... until it wrapped gently around Leonās waist.
Just as Leon was starting to sweat, wondering how to handle this seductive attack, Rosvisser did nothing further.
It was just a simple embrace, like hugging a giant teddy bear.
She nestled closer, resting her small chin on his shoulder, her eyes half-closed. Her silver eyelashes glistened in the soft light, each lash distinct.
"This is a first for us," Rosvisser suddenly murmured softly.
"A first for what?" Leon asked.
"For the first time, I donāt have to worry about afternoon duties, and you donāt have to take the girls to practice magic or study. Itās our first quiet afternoon together, isnāt it?"
Her voice held a hint of exhaustion but also contentment.
Leon glanced down at her face, which was softened by a serene smile. A playful dimple formed at the corner of her mouth, adding to her charm.
She rested against him, completely at ease, her guard down.
Leon blinked, then shook his head with a smile.
Forget the Sea Dragon Clanās secret arts. Forget all the unfinished business. That could all wait.
Right now... it was time to enjoy a peaceful afternoon with his wife.
He lifted his arm, gently draping it over Rosvisserās shoulder.
Rosvisser, eyes still closed, snuggled closer against him.
Her delicate fragrance enveloped him, and her warm breath tickled his neck.
"Leon..." Her voice was barely a whisper, somewhere between a dream and reality.
"Hmm?"
"I donāt like you... not at all."
"Yeah, me neither."
Rosvisser nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck, her muffled voice drifting up.
"...I lied."
Leon chuckled softly and kissed her forehead.
"Yeah, me too."
