âBut why am I dreaming about the Primordial Dragon King? And so often?â Noa asked, confused.
Leon thought for a moment. âWhen did you start having this dream?â
He had a good guess but wanted to confirm.
âAfter we returned from the Far North,â Noa replied without hesitation.
The two exchanged a glance, and as they put all the pieces together, the answer began to take shape.
Noaâs recent unusual symptoms seemed to be linked to the Primordial Dragon Kingâs ruins they had explored beneath the ice in the Far North.
Right after they returned, Leon and Rosvisser had brought in the best healers in the clan to give Noa a full check-up. Physically, she appeared fine, aside from a mild injury to her right hand.
But considering the nature of the ancient dragon ruins, a clean bill of health didnât guarantee everything was truly normal.
Leon took it seriously.
If something were really wrong with his precious daughter, heâd take down Konstantin first, then wreck the ruins for good measure. Leon wasnât the kind to waste time with âI-told-you-soâ talks; he was more of the âaction-first, lecture-laterâ type.
But right now, the focus was on solving Noaâs problem.
âWhen you interrupted Konstantinâs power absorption, it caused an explosion as your magic collided with the Primordial Power. This blast let you stop him, correct?â
Noa nodded.
Leon thought for a moment, then suggested, âYou might have accidentally absorbed some of the Primordial Power yourself. And because you canât control it, certain⊠letâs say âsubstancesâ embedded in that power might be causing your dreams.â
Noa blinked, curious about this new idea. âSubstances embedded in the power?â
âYes, itâs difficult to define exactly. Some scholars believe theyâre the souls of those whoâve passed, while others think theyâre fragments of the deceasedâs memories,â Leon explained. âBut itâs widely accepted that the magic we wieldââ
He raised his hand, and blue sparks crackled in his palm, ââdoes carry certain traces. If a personâs physical form perishes, but their power and the âsubstancesâ within it are preserved, it can sometimes be revived through certain types of magic.â
Though resurrection was taboo across most species and a complex theory, Leon simplified it for Noa.
Heâd only ever read about it before seeing it with his own eyesâuntil the Empire shamelessly revived Konstantin not once but twice.
Konstantin had initially been little more than a head, with only a tiny shred of power left in it. And now, here he was, practically bursting with life. And this ancient power left in the ruins? It was immense in comparison.
Noa tried to follow his train of thought.
âSo you mean⊠thereâs a piece of the Primordial Power in my body, but because I canât use it, itâs just stuck there, and a part of Noahâs⊠âsubstanceâ within it is affecting my dreams?â
Leon nodded. âTheoretically, if you can release that residual Primordial Power from your body, you shouldnât experience those dreams anymore, and your physical symptoms should gradually improve.â
Noa paused, a bit exasperated. âBut Dad, I have no idea how to use Primordial Power. Iâve never learned it.â
This was one thing her talent couldnât help with.
Leon, however, seemed unfazed.
âTrue, but someone does know how to use it.â
âHuh?â
âŠ
âWhy are you two smiling so suspiciously?â Rosvisser asked, glancing sideways at Leon and Noa from her seat on the throne in the hall.
Leon held Noa in his arms, smiling ingratiatingly at her.
âHoney~â
âMom~â
âOut with it. Iâm busy here.â
As her daughter grew older, sheâd taken after her father in many ways. Her combat style, magic preference, and principles of actionâthey were all gradually becoming Leon-like.
And now, she was even adopting his mischievous grin.
Rosvisser sighed inwardly. Of all the things to imitate, why did she have to pick up this cheeky behavior?
Not that she didnât appreciate the change. As she recalled, when Leon accidentally traveled twenty years into the future, the Noa of that era had grown gloomy and withdrawn in his absence.
Rosvisser never wanted to see her daughter become that way.
So watching Noaâs bright and lively demeanor now, Rosvisser felt a bit of relief.
Back to business.
She knew they wouldnât disturb her without a good reason.
Leon briefly explained Noaâs situation and their recent insights.
Rosvisser immediately understood the gravity of it.
âTeaching Noa to channel Primordial Power⊠Sure, I can do that. Noa, when do you want to start?â
âWhenever youâre ready, Mom.â
Rosvisser set down her pen and stood up. âMomâs ready right now.â
Leon & Princess Noa: âHuh?â
âBut you just said you were busy,â Noa protested.
âThe world can wait. My daughterâs needs come first. Now, to the training grounds.â
The workaholic was defeated by the daughter-obsessed mother.
Ten minutes later, the family arrived at the training grounds behind the sanctuary.
âSo as long as Noa releases the Primordial Power she absorbed by accident, her dreams will stop, and her health should improve, right?â Rosvisser confirmed.
Leon nodded. âHow long do you think it would take to teach her the basics?â
He remembered how much time and effort Rosvisser had invested when she first trained to control Primordial Power. Even if Noa was gifted, he figured it would take at least a couple of weeks to get the basics down.
After a momentâs thought, Rosvisser replied, âIf she were to learn it traditionally, it would take quite a bit of time. But given that her health is already affected, we shouldnât delay. I believe⊠I could simply guide the Primordial Power out of her. That should yield the same results.â
Rosvisser made a good point.
Only a couple of weeks in, and Noa was already showing clear signs of discomfort. If she had to learn new techniques while struggling with fatigue, it would only worsen her condition.
Her suggestion was the most efficient option.
âThen letâs do it your way,â Leon agreed.
âAlright. Noa, sit down here.â
Noa nodded, sitting obediently.
âHold out your hand and place it in Momâs.â
âYes, Mom.â
Noa placed her small hand in Rosvisserâs soft palm.
Rosvisser held her daughterâs hand gently. âDonât worry, Noa. Just relax.â
âOkay.â
âNow, close your eyes and start channeling your natural magic.â
Noa did as instructed, and soon, blue sparks crackled around her.
âGood. Now, try to sense any foreign energy mixed in with your power.â
Noa frowned slightly. âForeign energy?â
âYes. Your natural energy should feel pure to you, but the Primordial Power is different. Think of it as a drop of ink in water. It will spread through your magical circuits. If you focus, youâll feel it,â Rosvisser explained.
Having practiced with the Primordial Power for so long, Rosvisser had already developed a few effective techniques.
âAlright, Iâll give it a try.â
Following her motherâs guidance, Noa quieted her mind, searching for the Primordial Power within her.
During this process, Rosvisser used her own Primordial Power to guide Noa. Once Noa located the foreign energy, Rosvisser would help extract it.
After a few moments, Noaâs expression changed slightly.
âI think⊠I feel it, Mom.â
âGood. Leave the rest to me.â
With that, Rosvisser immediately âcaughtâ the Primordial Power that Noa had identified, carefully drawing it out of her magical circuits.
This step required precision and caution. If she rushed, it could cause Noa harm.
As Rosvisser was about to fully withdraw the power, she suddenly sensed an invisible force resisting her.
âWhat⊠is this?â she muttered.
Leon, who had been standing guard, noticed her hesitation and approached quickly. âIs something wrong?â
âIt feels like something is trying to stop me from drawing out the Primordial Power.â
âNeed a hand?â
Rosvisser shook her head. âNo, itâs weak and faint. I can handle it.â
âAlright. If anything goes wrong, Iâll sever your connection with it immediately,â Leon assured her.
âUnderstood.â
Rosvisser focused on pulling out the foreign power.
As sheâd said, the resisting force was weak, not nearly enough to overpower her.
Moments later, she succeeded in guiding all of the Primordial Power out of Noa.
Both mother and daughter let out a sigh of relief.
Noa flopped backward onto the soft grass, feeling significantly lighter. The slight headache that had plagued her eased as well.
Rosvisser examined the orb of white energy in her hand. âSo this is the Primordial Power that seeped into Noa at the ruinsâŠâ
Leon crouched beside her, âCompared to Konstantinâs, this looks pretty small.â
Rosvisser nudged him with her elbow. âCan you compare it to something reasonable?â
Leon laughed, then walked over and lifted Noa into his arms. âFeeling better?â
Noa nodded, smiling. âMuch better.â
She turned to Rosvisser, âThank you, Mom!â
Rosvisser stood and pinched her daughterâs cheek. âAs long as youâre okay. Letâs ask the maids to make some extra snacks tonight to help you regain your strength.â
âGood idea.â
âŠ
That night
, in the sistersâ bedroom, Moon finished cuddling Aurora and turned over to snuggle up to Noa.
This time, she successfully latched onto her sister.
As she slept, a content smile spread across her face, and she nuzzled her cheek against Noaâs neck.
Noa, however, lay wide awake, staring straight at the ceiling.
She raised a hand and gently pushed Moon away.
A second later, Moon rolled back and clung to her again.
She pushed her away.
Moon rolled back.
She pushed once more.
And Moon snuggled back yet again.
Noa gave up.
âThis annoying little brat. As the daughter of a Dragon King, how can you have such a terrible sleeping posture? Youâre disgracing my legacy.â
âThough⊠I suppose you are pretty cute. Could it be that all the dragonsâ potential got funneled into their looks?â
The ancient dragon spirit stared at the ceiling, pondering how the dragon clan she saved thousands of years ago could have ended up like this.
Not that it was entirely bad.
Just⊠unexpected.
âAh, it seems I canât secretly use this kidâs body to reaccumulate my Primordial Power. That silver dragon, Rosvisser, is too sharpâalready mastering my power at her age.â
âAnd her husband⊠Leon Cosmod. Heâs a tricky one, too. If I hurt this kidâs body, he definitely wouldnât forgive me.â
âIf I still had my old body and power, I wouldnât be afraid of those two.â
âBut unfortunately⊠Ah.â
With a soft sigh, the ancient dragon pondered ways to quietly restore her former self.
But as she racked her brain, the little dragon beside her finally rolled over, curling up against the pink-haired sister instead.
At last, the ancient dragon spirit exhaled in relief.
She slipped out from under the covers and padded quietly to the bathroom.
Looking at the young dragonâs face in the mirror, she sighed, hesitating for a moment before finally deciding.
âIt seems⊠itâs time to come clean with you, little one.â
