After breakfast, Leon made his way to the front courtyard of the Silver Dragon Sanctuary, where he saw Rosvisser in a quiet discussion with Anna, seemingly going over instructions.
With his hands casually in his pockets, Leon strolled over, casting a quick glance at the head maid before giving Rosvisser a cheerful greeting.
âGood morning, dear wife!â
The word "wife" was spoken with such gusto that it sounded like he was making a solemn pledge.
Rosvisser rolled her eyes at him.
She knew why this scoundrel was so enthusiasticâin front of Anna, they needed to put on an act as a loving couple.
If she teased Leon about it later, saying he must secretly wish she were his real wife, Leon would inevitably retort, âAnna was right there; we needed to make it look convincing, didnât we?â
âActingâ was a convenient excuseâfor both of them.
âGood morning, dear husband,â she replied, half-irritated but unable to deny the strange satisfaction that came with calling him that.
Anna, meanwhile, stifled a chuckle before resuming a serious demeanor and saying earnestly, âYour Majesty, Iâll carry out the tasks you assigned to me to the best of my ability. Please donât worry.â
âThank you, Anna. Weâll be back tomorrow night.â
âOf course, Your Majesty.â
With a respectful nod, Anna also acknowledged Leon and then returned to the sanctuary.
Once she was out of earshot, Leon asked, âTomorrow night? Where are you going?â
âWerenât you listening to a word I said?â
Leon shrugged. âDid you say something?â
âItâs not where Iâm going; itâs where âweâ are going.â
Leon blinked. âSo⊠where are we going?â
âSky City.â
âA date?â
âNo!â
âNo need to be so worked up. Itâs not like you dislike going on dates with me.â
âI do dislike going on dates with you,â Rosvisser countered, sounding resolute.
âSure, sure, you hate it, you hate it. Iâm the one who always timidly asks you out, and you never ask me out. Happy now?â
A faint blush crept up Rosvisserâs cheeks, and her tail gave Leon a swat on the backside.
He could have dodged, but he didnât.
Thankfully, she held back, only giving him a playful flick.
This little exchange may have seemed silly, but there was a term for it: âflirting.â
âSo, what are we doing in Sky City?â
âA meeting.â
With that, Rosvisser unfurled her dragon wings and transformed into a massive silver dragon.
She lowered herself to a height where Leon could easily climb onto her back.
âA secret meeting of the Dragon Kings.â
---
The Twilight Tower, a towering structure at the very center of Sky City, symbolized the city's supreme authority.
It was said to have existed when Sky City first opened its gates to all dragons and was established by the cityâs founder.
As the signature building of the largest neutral city in the dragon world, Twilight Tower also served as a platform for the different dragon clans to hold diplomatic discussions.
Although the dragon clans had splintered into various factions, they still maintained necessary exchanges for matters like trade, culture, and external conflicts. The Dragon Kings would meet at Twilight Tower to discuss such matters.
Today, the top-level conference room at the towerâs summit had opened for the first time in years, welcoming each distinguished Dragon King.
With about half an hour left until the meeting, the Dragon Kings had started arriving one by one.
Inside the conference room, a long table had been set, and several Dragon Kings had already taken their seats.
âSenior Odin, I didnât expect you to attend.â
âSenior, have you thought more about the alliance we discussed last time?â
âThe esteemed Thunder Dragon Kingâitâs an honor to finally meet you. Your reputation precedes you.â
One by one, the younger Dragon Kings respectfully greeted an elderly Dragon King sitting on one side of the table.
Their words were filled with deference because the dragon before them was none other than the Thunder Dragon KingâOdin, renowned for both his wisdom and power.
Amid the courteous greetings, however, a voice with an entirely different tone rang out.
âWell, well, the old Thunder Dragon himself! If even youâre here, this must be serious.â
Odin ignored the flattery, merely closing his eyes in silent meditation.
But when this loud voice made itself heard, he felt compelled to respond, if only to avoid an awkward silence.
Why? Because as long as that voice didnât feel awkward, someone else would.
âMorgan, is lack of decorum a family tradition youâre determined to keep alive?â
âNot only that, my son Anton has taken it to new heights!â
Morgan cheerfully sat down next to Odin, draping an arm over his shoulder like an old friend.
âBy the way, my son told me about the practical test in the Far North. He mentioned your eldest daughter, Yuna, did quite well!â
The Thunder Dragon King shot him a look that said, âYou think I needed you to tell me that?â and then resumed ignoring him.
Morgan came from the Golden Sand Dragon Clan, one of the oldest.
Rumor had it that his clan still preserved magical tomes from the era of Tiamat, the Dragon God.
Yet Morgan himself was hardly the type to evoke such ancient prestige; he was more like a smug, grinning uncle who refused to act his age.
Who would guess that he and Odin had risen to power in the same era?
And because of this longstanding familiarity, Morgan and Odin shared a somewhat close relationshipâclose enough for Morgan to dare put an arm around the revered Thunder Dragon King.
The Dragon Kings engaged in quiet conversation until the conference room doors opened once again.
This time, a striking beauty walked in.
Her red hair, flowing crimson dress, and meticulously applied makeup framed a beautiful, mature face, exuding a unique aura enhanced by her cold, indifferent gaze.
âThe Red Dragon Queen? So, sheâs involved with Konstantin too?â Morgan asked in a hushed tone.
This Dragon King gathering was primarily to address the issue of Konstantin, who had recently acquired the Primordial Power.
Odinâs gaze settled on the red-haired beauty. After a moment, he said, âI heard that shortly before Konstantin acquired the Primordial Power, he launched an unprovoked attack on Ishaâs territory. It makes sense that she would attend.â
Morgan nodded. âThat explains it.â
Isha took her seat, crossing her legs and resting her chin on her hand. Her gaze swept across the other Dragon Kings in the room, but seeing no familiar faces, she closed her eyes to rest.
Female Dragon Kings were rare, and Ishaâs breathtaking beauty naturally drew attention.
Of course, all the attendees were dignified Dragon Kings. No one would commit the faux pas of flirting in such a formal setting. They were content to admire her quietly.
A few minutes later, the sound of high heels echoed from the hallway.
Morganâs eyebrows shot up. âWow, are we heading toward a new era of equality? So many female Dragon Kings here today!â
Odin said nothing, only directing his gaze toward the door.
He didnât care much about the presence of female Dragon Kings.
But he felt a peculiar sense of familiarity from the aura of the one about to enter.
The next moment, a woman with flowing blue hair stepped into the room.
Compared to the younger Red Dragon Queen, this woman was slightly older, radiating a mature, seductive aura.
âI think I remember her⊠isnât she a Water Dragonââ
âSheâs a Sea Dragon,â Odin corrected.
âOh, right, the Sea Dragon Clan. But havenât they kept to themselves for years? Why would one attend a meeting about Konstantin?â
Morgan paused before adding, âAnd I thought their Dragon King was that old man Poseidon. When did he turn into a beautiful woman?â
âShow some respect, Morgan. Her name is Claudia, Poseidonâs eldest daughter,â Odin replied, his tone grave. âPoseidon sending her in his stead speaks volumes.â
Morganâs eyes lit up with understanding. âClaudia is next in line to be Sea Dragon King?â
âPerhaps.â
Leaning back in his chair, Morgan stretched his arms and said lazily, âIâll have to make sure to attend her coronation.â
âYou wouldnât even reach the palace without a Sea Dragon guide.â
âHey, I was just saying. You donât have to take everything so seriously.â
Odin snorted, not bothering to respond.
âSpeaking of which, almost everyone is here, but it looks like the stars of todayâs meeting are still missing.â
Morgan glanced around the room, noting the two empty seats across from him, while every other spot was occupied.
Odin pondered Morganâs words briefly before giving a low chuckle.
âThe stars tend to make their entrance last.â
Just then, they heard a warm voice from across the table, as Isha waved toward the door with a welcoming smile.
âLittle Ros, and brother-in-law, youâre here.â
