Just before the war hammer could strike Noa, Leon arrived, descending from the sky like a divine warrior, a savior in the midst of chaos.
Leon timed his arrival perfectly. His feet landed directly on Adamâs hammer, the force of his impact driving the massive weapon deep into the ground.
Without hesitation, Leon spun and delivered a side kick, lightning crackling around him. Adam, gripping the hammerâs handle with all his strength, tried to pull it free. However, Leonâs kick was so powerful that Adam had no choice but to release the hammer. If he hadnât, he risked tearing his arms apart.
The impact sent Adam flying dozens of meters away. His shoulder screamed in pain as he skidded to a stop, his feet carving deep trenches into the ground.
Once he steadied himself, Adam raised his arm, his dislocated shoulder throbbing. His lone dragon eye locked onto Leon with a mixture of rage and unease.
âSo, this is the man âShadowâ warned us about⊠Leon Cosmod. It seems your reputation is well-deserved,â Adam growled through gritted teeth.
The force of Leonâs seemingly simple side kick was something only a seasoned warrior could truly appreciateâpure, efficient power without any unnecessary flair.
âHah! Attacking by surprise? If youâre so strong, face me in a proper fight!â Adam roared, adjusting his stance despite the searing pain in his arm.
âIt doesnât matter how many of you come at me,â Adam continued, his voice laced with venom. âThe outcome wonât change. Leon Cosmod, someoneâs paid a very high price for your entire familyââ
âIâm going to kill you.â
The air seemed to crackle with electricity as Leonâs voice cut through the fog like a blade.
A sharp, birdlike cry echoed, and Leonâs figure became clearer. His voice, cold as death itself, carried a weight that even the Warhammer Dragon Kingâdespite his thousand years of experienceâcouldnât ignore. Adam involuntarily stepped back.
âWhat⊠what did you say?â Adam stammered.
âIâm going to kill you.â
âThis isnât a threat. Itâs not a boast.â
âItâs a fact.â
Lightning split the mist, illuminating Leonâs faceâgrim, furious, and filled with an overwhelming killing intent.
Adam, for once, found himself speechless. His pride screamed at him to laugh or counter with arrogance, but his words caught in his throat.
Seconds ticked by before Adam forced himself to swallow and barked out, âIf youâre so confident, then prove itââ
Leon vanished.
His speed was incomprehensible. By the time Adam processed the movement, Leon was already at his right side, moving like a phantom.
âYouâre blind in your left eye, relying only on your right,â Leon remarked coldly.
Electricity surged around Leonâs arm, forming a massive claw of pure lightning.
âSo tactically, attacking from your left would be the obvious choiceâŠâ
With blinding speed, Leonâs claw clamped down on Adamâs throat, slamming him into the ground.
*BOOM!*
The earth cracked beneath Adamâs massive frame, fissures spreading outward like a spiderweb.
âCoughâ!â Adam spat blood, the impact leaving him dazed.
The blood splattered onto Leonâs lightning claw and evaporated instantly in the intense heat.
âBut I donât need cheap tactics to kill you, mongrel,â Leon spat, his voice cold and cutting.
âGo to hell! You havenât won yet!â Adam roared, gripping Leonâs arm in desperation. Despite the searing heat and electricity burning his flesh, he struggled to pry the claw off his neck.
His resistance was pitiful, a futile attempt by a cornered beast.
Leon had no patience for his defiance. With a flick of his wrist, he hurled Adamâs massive body into the air.
Adamâs eyes widened briefly as he was freed, his instincts telling him to retaliate. Mid-air, he opened his jaws, preparing to strike back.
âFool,â Leon muttered.
Before Adam could act, a blazing kick slammed into his back.
âARGH!â Adam howled as flames scorched his spine, burning through his dragon scales.
âYou dare harm children, and yet you accuse others of betrayal?â Konstantinâs voice boomed as he towered over Adam.
The Red Flame Dragon King pressed Adam into the ground with his foot, raising his leg high before slamming it into Adamâs chest.
*THUD!*
The ground exploded with debris as Konstantinâs attack landed. Blood spilled from Adamâs mouth, pooling in the cracks of the earth.
Konstantinâs fiery red eyes glared down at Adam, his voice low and menacing.
âFor thirty years, Adam⊠my daughter has slept beneath the waters for thirty years because of you.â
âIâve spent every moment since dreaming of how Iâd kill you.â
âAnd today, not even the Dragon God can save you.â
Raising his hands high, Konstantin summoned a massive inferno, the flames twisting into a burning fist above his head.
âYou think you can kill me?â Adam sneered, forcing out a mocking laugh despite the pain. âThirty years ago, you couldnât save your daughter. What makes you think you can accomplish anything now, old fool?â
âYouâre doing this to ease your guilt, arenât you? How pathetic.â
âYou should thank me. Without me, you wouldnât have the chance to redeem yourself by helping this human!â
âBack then, I should have torn your precious daughterââ
*BOOM!*
Konstantinâs flaming fists smashed into Adam, silencing him with a roar of fire and heat. The ground glowed molten red as the force of the blow scorched everything in its radius.
---
Leon approached, standing beside Konstantin as they gazed down at Adamâs broken form.
Neither man spoke. They didnât need to. Their vengeance was quiet, an unspoken satisfaction radiating from their silence.
Adamâs weak, rasping voice broke through the quiet.
âHumans⊠dragons⊠working together⊠truly unprecedented.â
âYou think youâve won, but Iâll drag that brat down with me!â Adam roared as black energy erupted from his chest, forcing Leon and Konstantin to step back.
When the dust cleared, Adam was charging toward Noa, her unconscious body limp and defenseless.
âNoa!â Leon roared, his voice filled with desperation.
Adamâs twisted grin widened as he lunged. âCosmod, youâll live the rest of your life in agony over losing your daughter, just like Konstantin!â
Just as Adamâs claw reached Noa, a sharp gunshot rang out.
*BANG!*
A single enchanted bullet tore through the air, striking Adamâs remaining eye.
âARGH! My eye! My eye!!â Adam howled as the bulletâs magic disintegrated his vision, leaving him completely blind.
A green blur darted past. Rebecca scooped up Noaâs unconscious form and dashed away.
Turning briefly, she smirked at the writhing dragon. âWarhammer Dragon King? More like the Blind Dragon King now!â
---
Adam collapsed, his body twitching as blood seeped from his ruined eye. His strength drained, he leaned against a boulder, his breaths shallow.
Leon and Konstantin stood over him.
Adam raised his head weakly, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. âLeon⊠youâre searching for âShadow,â arenât you?â
Leon remained silent, his dark gaze unyielding.
âI have information you want. Let me go, and Iâll lead you to him,â Adam croaked, his words dripping with desperation.
Leonâs expression didnât change.
âDonât you want to know why âShadowâ sent me here? Or where Queen Elizabeth is hiding?â
âI can give you answers. Just let me live.â
Finally, Leon spoke, his voice devoid of mercy.
âYou misunderstood something, Adam.â
Lightning surged as Leon raised his hand.
âThe moment you hurt my daughter, you were already a dead man.â
*BOOM!*
