âThat sums up the whole story,â Leon said.
In their bedroom, Rosvisser lay on the bed, her hand gently resting on her growing belly. Leon sat at her bedside, peeling an apple while recounting the events of the day.
After listening, the queen nodded thoughtfully. âSo, according to your brilliant strategy and heroic decision-making, you single-handedly defeated the Six-Winged Dragonhawk and recoveredâŠâ
Her gaze shifted to the Jade Dew Dragonfruit on the bedside table. ââŠthe single, precious Jade Dew Dragonfruit. Is that right?â
âExactly! Youâre so clever, darling. Thatâs the perfect summary,â Leon replied, his grin wide.
Rosvisser scoffed, pulling a notebook out from beneath her pillow. She flipped it open to the first page. âYet according to Sherryâs guard report, the one who dealt the critical blow to the dragonhawk was Noa.â
Placing the notebook down, she rested her cheek in her hand and gave her husband a playful, teasing smile. âMeanwhile, you, my dear husband, our wise and courageous Silver Dragon Prince, missed every attack and merely served as a springboard for our beloved daughter. Correct?â
Leonâs face flushed red, though he tried to defend himself. âWell, Noa was using *Thunder Wolf Breakthrough* and *Thousand Birds,* both of which I taught her. So technically, I deserve at least a third of the credit.â
âOh? Fine, Iâll let that slide for the sake of your one-third contribution,â Rosvisser said, her tone mischievous. âBut that doesnât explain why you only brought back *one* dragonfruit when Sherryâs report clearly states there were two.â
Cold sweat broke out on Leonâs forehead. âUh, wellâŠâ
Rosvisser smacked the edge of the bed, pretending to be angry. âAdmit it! You gave the other one to some little dragoness outside, didnât you?â
Leon: ?
If Leon ever wrote a book, it could be titled *How to Turn a Cold and Domineering Queen into a Whimsical Girl.* The answer? Get her pregnant.
Still, he couldnât fathom why Rosvisserâs mood swings seemed to worsen with each pregnancy. When she was expecting Aurora, heâd barely managed to keep up. Now with their fourth child, her playful tantrums had become an everyday occurrence.
Not that Leon minded. In fact, he found this side of her rather endearingâmore so than her usual aloof demeanor.
âAlright, fine. I gave it to another dragoness. Happy now?â Leon joked.
âLeon.â
âYes?â
âYou can tease me, but I canât tease you back.â
âWhy not?â
âBecause I canât handle it.â
Leon laughed, shaking his head. âFair enough. Youâre nothing if not honest.â
---
By now, Leon had finished peeling and slicing the apple, arranging the pieces neatly on a plate and adding a few toothpicks before placing it by Rosvisserâs pillow.
âActually,â he began, âthe other dragonfruit went to the Six-Winged Dragonhawkâs mate. Sheâs pregnant, too, and it stole the fruit to help her. I didnât find out until I was about to leave, so I decided to leave one for them.â
âAnd why didnât you tell me this earlier?â
âBecause youâre my wife, and I thought leaving my name out of it would be poetic,â Leon quipped.
âRubbish. Youâre my husband; thereâs no need to be poetic with me.â
Leon grinned sheepishly. Rosvisser shot him an exasperated look before laughing, her annoyance giving way to amusement.
âSherryâs report mentioned it already. I was just teasing you on purpose.â
âI figured.â
âAnd you still played along?â
âOf course. Pregnancy comes with privileges, doesnât it?â
Rosvisser smiled warmly. Some people show love by patiently enduring their partnerâs antics, no matter how unreasonable or trivial. Leon was one of those people. He never showed frustration and always humored her whims, knowing her boundaries and respecting them.
Rosvisser picked up a piece of apple and held it to Leonâs lips. âYouâve earned this. Open wide.â
âAhââ Just as Leon leaned forward, Rosvisser pulled the apple back and popped it into her own mouth. She bit down but left half of it teasingly between her lips. Looking at Leon with a mischievous glint in her eye, she tilted her chin provocatively.
âOh, you little dragoness,â Leon growled. âIf youâre going to play games, then Iâll just take it from you.â
With that, Leon pounced, pinning Rosvisser beneath him as he stole the apple from her mouth. She giggled, her protests half-hearted.
âCareful! Donât press on my belly.â
âWhere do you think youâre putting your hands?â
âAlright, alright, you win! Stopâah! That ticklesâstop it!â
âDonât pull my tail!â
Their playful tussle ended with laughter and stolen kisses. The moral of the story? Once you offer your husband an apple, donât take it back, or you might regret it.

A week later, Saint Sis Academy held its junior dragon graduation ceremony.
âInside scoop, folks: Noa ranked first in the practical exam,â Claudia said, crossing her arms as she watched Leon and Rosvisser lurking in a corner. âSo why do you two look so nervous? Hiding from someone?â
Leon and Rosvisser quickly shushed her with matching gestures.
Claudia raised an eyebrow. âAn enemy?â
They shook their heads.
âA debt collector?â
Still no.
âThen what are you hiding fromââ
âAh, there you are, Mr. Leon, Miss Rosvisser!â a familiar voice called out behind Claudia.
At that moment, Claudia saw something on the coupleâs faces she hadnât seen before: pure despair.
Turning, she found herself face-to-face with Vice Principal Wilson.
âAh, Claudia! Good to see you too,â the elderly dragon said, adjusting his monocle. After a polite handshake with Claudia, he turned his attention to the cornered couple.
âLeon! My boy!â Wilson exclaimed, seizing Leonâs hand in a firm grip. âI hear you and Rosvisser are preparing for another child. What wonderful news!â
Leon chuckled awkwardly. âWell, you know how it isâŠâ
âWonderful! Truly wonderful!â Wilson gushed. âYour contributions to the dragon raceâs future are beyond commendable. Exceptional, really!â
Typically, dragon families had one or two children to maintain a âfew but exceptionalâ approach to procreation, ensuring their bloodlines remained pure and strong. Yet Leon and Rosvisser had already surpassed expectations by having three children in just seven years, with a fourth on the way.
What made their feat even more remarkable was the exceptional talent displayed by their first three children, each a prodigy in their own right. Naturally, Vice Principal Wilson believed their fourth child would also be extraordinary and was determined to recruit them into Saint Sis Academy.
âReally, Leon, your efforts are invaluable! The future of the dragon race owes so much to you!â Wilson continued, his gratitude almost overwhelming.
Leonâs smile froze. âAh, yes⊠Just doing our part.â
Beside him, Rosvisser remained silent, fearing that any comment might shift Wilsonâs relentless focus onto her.
Eventually, Wilson had to leave to prepare for the ceremony, allowing the couple to breathe a sigh of relief.
âThat was scarier than any debtor,â Claudia remarked.
Leon wiped sweat from his brow and helped Rosvisser do the same. âThe last time we escaped the vice principalâs enthusiasm was months ago, at the junior dragonsâ orientation.â
âHowâd you manage that?â Claudia asked.
âKonstantin distracted him for us.â
âAh, the mad dragonâs value increases yet again,â Claudia mused.
---
The graduation ceremony began shortly after. The young dragons, clad in custom-made robes, lined up neatly to receive their certificates.
âCongratulations, Helena, for graduating third in your class. Here is your certificate. Keep working hard!â announced Principal Olato.
âThank you, Principal Olato,â Helena said, bowing deeply as she accepted her certificate.
âFrontai, congratulations on earning second place in your exams. Here is your certificate,â Vice Principal Wilson said.
Finally, the two administrators approached the top student of the class, kneeling slightly as they handed her the certificate.
âNoa K. Melkvey, congratulations. You are the youngest and most outstanding student in Saint Sis Academyâs history to graduate from the junior division. Your name will be etched into the academyâs wall of honor, alongside those of countless greats.â
Olato then produced a golden medal and pinned it to Noaâs chest.
âThe Holy Tiamat Medal will illuminate your path forward,â he declared.
Taking Noaâs hand, he turned to the crowd of teachers, parents, and students, raising her arm high. In that moment, thunderous applause erupted, all for her.
