Muse and Hefei officially entered the Young Dragons Division of St. Heathâs Academy, where they would spend the next two years studying. With their youngest daughter now enrolled, Leon and Rosvisser faced an unfamiliar reality: an almost empty nest.
Before the girls started school, Leonâs daily routine was simple:
Take care of the kids, eat, sleep, and occasionally hand in some assignments.
Now, with the girls only coming home on weekends, Leonâs routine had shifted to:
Eat, sleep, and do even more assignments.
Without their daughters around, the couple indulged in their newfound freedom. When Muse returned home after her bimonthly exams, the head maid Milan noticed something unusual.
âWhy has the quality of our Silver Dragon carpentry deteriorated so much lately?â
Her sharp gaze fell on the bedframe, inspecting the high-quality wood.
âThis was supposed to be premium material for furniture!â
While Milanâs concerns were well-meaning, Leon gently suggested she stop blaming the carpenters.
The frequent need to replace the bedframes had nothing to do with the Silver Dragon carpenters' skills. If she really wanted to stop the bedframes from breaking, she should consider assigning more work to the queenâor perhaps open a Silver Dragon kindergarten and appoint Leon as its principal.
Ahem. Back to the story.
With their household matters temporarily in order, Leon prepared to investigate Shadowâs whereabouts again.
His last encounter with Shadow in the Flaming Valley left a strong impression. Shadowâs oppressive power wasnât something Leon could compare to the foes heâd faced in dragon nests or skirmishes before.
Leon could sense it clearly:
Whether the final battle took place in the Dragon Domain or the Dragon Abyss, the fight against the Ultimate Fear would be the hardest of his life.
Shadow also possessed the power to enhance and control dangerous creatures through the
Black Dragon Scales.
The Flame Valleyâs molten stags were nearly perfect creations of Shadowâs doing.
Undoubtedly, Shadowâs next move would involve mass-producing dangerous creatures, intensifying conflicts among dragons, and generating enough negative emotions to feed the Ultimate Fear.
Leon knew he couldnât stop Shadow alone. He still needed the help of the
Lionheart Guild.
However, the guildâs current capabilities were outdated compared to the scale of the threat.
As Leon returned to the empire, Rosvisser landed beside him in her dragon form, her silver wings shimmering as she descended with six-winged dragonhawks flanking her.
Once on the ground, she didnât immediately shift back into human form. Instead, she crouched slightly, allowing several wooden crates to slide off her wings.
After all the crates were unloaded, she transformed, letting out a soft sigh of relief, a gentle smile on her face.
At that moment, a fluffy blue blur shot into her arms.
âDarling~~â
Rosvisser gently stroked Rebeccaâs hair, her gaze warm.
âItâs been a while, Rebecca.â
Rebecca peeked out from Rosvisserâs embrace and looked toward Leon and the six-winged dragonhawk.
âIsnât that the dragonhawk that saved the captain in Flaming Valley?â
Rosvisser nodded. âYes. It later became his brother-in-armsâa very skilled and powerful creature.â
Rebeccaâs teal eyes sparkled with curiosity. âHow powerful?â
âIt can keep up with about sixty percent of my speed,â Rosvisser said matter-of-factly.
Rebecca: ?
âDarling, I think youâve been married to the captain too long. Youâve picked up his habit of showing off.â
Rosvisser chuckled and playfully pinched Rebeccaâs cheek.
âAs Silver Dragons, weâre naturally known for our speed. That dragonhawk is impressive by any standard.â
Rebecca nodded in understanding.
Meanwhile, behind them, Leon patted the dragonhawkâs wing.
The creature let out a soft whimper, its sharp eyes turning into swirls as it slumped to the ground, exhausted.
Leon grinned. âWhy are you even competing with her? Youâll never win, little brother.â
The dragonhawk: (@_@)
âAlright, take a break. Iâll handle the rest,â Leon said, walking toward Rosvisser.
âYou couldâve slowed down a bit, you know,â Leon teased. âLook at my little brotherâhis wings are practically smoking.â
Rosvisser crossed her arms, her lips curling into a proud smile.
âI never told you to chase me so hard. Besides, itâs not like he canât complainâor you either, for that matter. You couldâve just told me to slow down.â
âI
did
tell you! My throatâs sore from shouting!â
âOh, sorry, I didnât hear you.â
âTypical dragoness.â
Rosvisser stuck out her tongue playfully, quickly changing the subject.
âAlright, enough teasing. Letâs get to business.â
Leon turned to the Lionheart Guild members.
âNacho, get some people to load these crates onto the wagons.â
Nacho nodded, signaling a team to start moving the crates.
âCaptain, whatâs inside the crates?â Rebecca asked curiously.
âGood stuff,â Leon replied. âIâll explain on the way back.â
As the crates were loaded, Rosvisser stepped forward.
âHow long will this take?â
âTransporting the contents of these crates for the Lionheart Guild will take about two months.â
âAlright,â she said. âWith the dragonhawk here, you can always come home quickly. Donât miss me too much.â
Rosvisser smirked.
âWhoâs going to miss you? Just make sure you donât end up dreaming and calling my name hundreds of times again.â
âWait, who told you that?!â Leon demanded, grabbing Rebecca by the collar before she could sneak away.
âRebecca, care to explain?â
Rebecca laughed nervously. âWell, captain⊠women just talk, you know? Itâs normal to mention dreamtalk occasionally, right? Isnât that right, Martin?â
Martin made the sign of the cross over his chest.
âMay the gods have mercy on you, Rebecca.â
âMartin!!!â
Leon chuckled and released Rebecca, not pressing the matter further. He turned back to Rosvisser, pulling her close.
âYou know Iâll miss you.â
âOf course, you will,â Rosvisser teased with a smile.
âAlways playing hard to get,â Leon quipped.
âAnd youâre always stubborn, my dear dragon.â
Before they could continue their banter, Rebecca interjected loudly, âAlright, captain! Queen! Can you two stop flirting for a second?!â
Leon and Rosvisser paused, staring at her in disbelief.
Rebecca crossed her arms smugly.
âThis is the empireâs best sharpshooterâs impeccable sense of timing!â
Leon and Rosvisser exchanged glances.
âGreat timing,â Leon said dryly.
âDonât do it again,â Rosvisser added with a smirk.
