Deep within the Silver Dragon's forest, Noaâs small figure darted nimbly among the trees.
She was pursuing a B-ranked hazardous creature, the Phantom Crocodile.
For Noa, who had already successfully defeated several A-ranked creatures, this crocodile posed little challenge.
After several bouts of chasing, Noa seized her moment. Planting her foot on a sturdy branch, she used its force to propel herself into the air. Mid-leap, she stretched out her body gracefully, raising both arms above her head. Between her hands, a fang-shaped streak of lightning began to form.
A-rank lightning magic: Thunder Crescent Slash.
Aiming at the fleeing Phantom Crocodile, Noa hurled the crescent-shaped energy forward.
The spell traced an arc through the air, perfectly predicting the crocodileâs escape route. It struck the creature directly, hitting it squarely in its multiple eyes.
âWow! Big sister, that was amazing!â
From behind the Phantom Crocodile, Aurora and Museâwho had been hiding thereâstepped out cautiously, still looking a little dazed.
Noa descended from the tree, landing lightly on the ground with a soft crouch to absorb the impact. She then walked toward her younger sisters.
âBig sister, youâre so cool~â
Moon rushed forward and clung to Noaâs arm, her eyes sparkling with admiration.
As a devoted sister enthusiast, Moon would never miss a chance to get close to her elder sister.
Noa smiled gently and took Moonâs hand, leading her toward a tree hollow nearby.
Aurora had already crouched next to the unconscious Phantom Crocodile. She pulled out a set of custom tools and began carefully scraping the creatureâs wings.
Pinkish powder fell away from the wings, which Aurora collected into a small glass vial.
Standing beside her, Muse asked curiously,
âThird Sister, you asked Big Sister to catch this Phantom Crocodile⊠just so you could scrape its wings?â
Aurora responded while continuing her work,
âNot exactly. This powder comes from the Phantom Crocodileâs body after long-distance flights. Itâs a special substance that accumulates over time.â
After collecting enough powder, Aurora checked the crocodileâs condition.
It was still breathingâjust unconscious from Noaâs attack.
Satisfied, she stood up and held the vial in her hand, giving it a little shake.
âThanks to Teacher Mevis, I found out this powder was the last ingredient I needed.â
âWhatâs it for?â Noa asked as she approached.
Aurora explained with excitement,
âTeacher Mevis has been helping me refine a spell related to mental consciousness over the past few days.â
She continued, âThis Phantom Crocodile powder can induce deep sleep in a short time. Itâs incredibly stable and doesnât harm the brain at all. Itâs the perfect key to completing the spell.â
After finishing her explanation, Aurora sighed softly. She looked at the small glass vial in her hand, her lips pressing together as her tone turned a little gloomy.
âItâs just a shame that Teacher Mevis left without even saying goodbye. I really wanted to show her how the spell looks when itâs complete.â
Noa blinked thoughtfully before saying in a comforting tone,
âDidnât Teacher Mevis say weâd see her again when weâre older?â
âHmm, I guessâŠâ Aurora nodded hesitantly.
âAlright then, letâs go home.â
âYeah.â
The little dragon girls left the forest and returned to the Silver Dragon Sanctuary.
A few days later, Leon and Rosvisser sat together, watching their daughters gather in the main hall. A strange sense of foreboding welled up within them.
Something felt⊠off about the way the girls were standing.
Usually, when the four sisters were together, Noa stood at the center while the others positioned themselves slightly behind her.
But this time, Aurora stood in the center.
Whenever that happened, Leon knew for certainâwhatever was about to happen would undoubtedly be one of Auroraâs mischievous schemes.
âDad, Mom.â
Auroraâs voice interrupted their thoughts.
They snapped back to reality and focused on their third daughter.
âWhy did you call us here, Aurora?â Leon asked.
Aurora, her pink hair neatly tied, clasped her hands behind her back and smiled mischievously.
âI just finished a new spell and wanted your help testing it.â
Hearing this, Rosvisser raised an eyebrow with interest.
âWhat kind of spell, Aurora?â
Aurora grinned widely and dramatically revealed her hands, holding two objects resembling frameless glasses. The lenses were covered in intricate, swirling magical inscriptions.
âWhatâs this?â Leon asked curiously.
âI call this new spell Memory Rewind,â Aurora announced proudly.
She explained,
âBy wearing these glasses, one person can enter the otherâs memories. As they explore deeper, they can uncover progressively hidden layers of memory.â
âIf done properly, you can even interact with the characters within the memories.â
âAnd the entire process is recorded using this modified Memory Crystal. Those outside can watch everything unfoldâlike watching a movie.â
Rosvisser tapped her chin thoughtfully.
âHmm, sounds like a type of illusion magicâŠâ
âHmm⊠it wouldnât be entirely accurate to call it illusion magic,â Aurora explained. âAfter all, memories are real, and interacting with the people within them doesnât alter those memories.â
After hearing Auroraâs explanation, Leon and Rosvisser exchanged a glance.
They had always supported and encouraged Auroraâs whimsical ideas and her innovative little spells. In fact, they had participated in her previous experiments and tests without hesitation.
This time, the Memory Rewind spell was no exception.
Besidesâ
âEntering each otherâs memories sounds like a lot of fun!â Leon grinned. âThatâs my clever Aurora!â
Aurora smirked. âOriginally, I wanted Big Sister Noa, Third Sister Moon, and Muse to help me test it. But since weâre all still young and grew up together, we already know each otherâs memories too well. There wouldnât be much point in looking.â
She added with a knowing tone, âBut you and Mom are adults, with rich life experiences. Even though you know each other well now, there are definitely memories you havenât shared. That makes this spell perfect for you, doesnât it?â
She grinned mischievously. âLow emotional intelligence version: the older you live, the more fun there is to see, and the more entertaining the memories will be!â
Leon rubbed his chin thoughtfully and turned to Rosvisser. âWhat do you think? Want to try?â
Rosvisser hesitated. âWellâŠâ
Leon added, teasingly, âBesides, none of the other three daughters know about their dadâs human origins. So obviously, the one whose memories weâll dive into has to be you, Rosvisser.â
This comment made Rosvisser even more hesitant. Though she didnât have any particularly embarrassing secrets in her past, there was always the chance that some forgotten memory might resurface, leaving her flustered in front of Leon.
âOh⊠this is such a dilemmaââ
âWhat? Donât tell me youâre⊠scared?â
âScared of what?â Rosvisser retorted, her tone a mix of indignation and doubt.
Leon shrugged casually. âI donât know, maybe youâve got some little secrets you donât want me to find out?â
âHmph! The Silver Dragon Queen has always been open and honest. I have no secrets!â
Despite her bold words, Rosvisserâs protest lacked strength. Leonâs taunt had clearly worked. âFine, letâs do it!â
Auroraâs eyes widened in amusement. âDad, Mom, are you really this in sync about diving into Momâs memories? Arenât you going to discuss it first?â
âNo need,â Rosvisser said coolly. âYour dadâs shallow life before marrying me isnât worth watching.â
Leon: â?â
âRight, turning the Dragon Kings of the clan into kebabs isnât shallow at all, is it?â
âFine, fine, you win this round, Mother Dragon. But if I find anything embarrassing in your memories, youâll regret it!â
âOkay,â Aurora said cheerfully. âNow put on the devices and lie down.â
The couple obediently donned the memory devices and lay side by side on the bed.
Moon and Muse approached with prepared aromatherapy diffusers, sitting by Leon and Rosvisserâs sides. The diffusers, enhanced with powder extracted from the Phantom Crocodile, quickly induced a deep sleep necessary to activate the memory spell.
âTheyâre asleep now, Aurora~â Moon announced.
Aurora nodded, bringing her hands together to activate the Memory Rewind spell.
A glowing magic circle appeared beneath the couple, and the custom Memory Crystal began to project an image.
âItâs starting, itâs starting! Big Sister, Aurora, Muse, come and look!â Moon called excitedly.
The little dragon girls gathered around, their eyes fixed intently on the crystalâs projection.
âHey? This looks familiar,â Moon remarked. âIsnât this the hallway of the sanctuary?â
Noa nodded. âItâs definitely the sanctuaryâs hallway.â
Muse watched the projection with anticipation, eager to see which memory their parents would encounter first. Her excitement grew as the scene unfolded.
