Chapter 1538: Absolute Fail

"Are you leaving so soon after you arrived? That’s not very polite now, isn’t it?"

A peal of girlish laughter rang from the sky. It was Lian Xin flying above Titan God and dropping Origin Force Fields to block his retreat.

Titan God looked like a mess as he kept running into invisible wall after invisible wall. Despite his best attempts, Lian Xin was able to stop him nearly every step of the way. Being able to predict an enemy’s movement was a skill every ranged player must possess[1].

Li Chengfeng cackled. "Well done! Titan God’s the second best player of the USA server! Don’t let him escape!"

I didn’t say anything. The gang interpreted it as approval and ganged up on Titan God.

Even Gui Guzi and He Yi were flying over to kill the man. It would be a morale boost to anyone to kill a top-tier expert like Titan God at the very start of the Nation War.

Swhoosh!

I used my Charge as well. A player who was invincible couldn’t be attacked or afflicted with any status condition unless it was an Ancient Divine Skill, but blocking their way? That was absolutely possible. I landed in front of Titan God like a titan and caused him to slam face first into my Dihai Shield. He was knocked back a couple of steps because his Strength stat was lower than mine. Not only that, his invincibility was starting to run out!

His players attacked us with everything they had, but they simply lacked the firepower to truly threaten us. In the end, a vice leader shouted, "What are you waiting for, boss? Teleport back to the city already! What’s a couple hours compared to being knocked out of the war?"

Titan God gritted his teeth but crushed the return scroll as his vice leader advised. There was a problem, however. It took 3.5 seconds for the teleport scroll to run its course, and since I had been watching Titan God closely from the start, I knew his invincibility would run out in just 3.2 seconds. That was enough for me to do what I needed to do!

The Scarlet Dragon Armor started glowing a faint red color. The second his invincibility ran out, I stunned him with Mad God Lunge and canceled his return scroll before it could take effect!

At the same time, I wrapped his neck with the Chains of Freedom!

"My god…"

Titan God seemed to realize what was about to happen. He glared at me and said, "You dare to use this skill in this war, Broken Halberd Sinks Into Sand? Do you understand the price you’ll be paying for this?"

I glanced at the equipment he dropped and said, "Little Gui, pick them up and split them among yourselves, will you?"

"Of course…" Gui Guzi happily carried out the order. There was no way the second best guild leader of the USA server would be wearing shit-tier equipment [2].

As usual, a system announcement reverberated across the maps every time an important player was killed—

"Fuck…"

Li Chengfeng laughed so hard that he was nearly in tears. "Now that I think about it, Titan God hasn’t killed a single enemy since the start of the battle, which is why he has no contribution points at all. And now, he’s dead and completely knocked out from the Nation War. This is what people call an absolute fail, hahahaha…"

I shook my head before saying, "Let’s return to the walls already. The enemy’s firepower is getting a bit difficult to bear."

And so, we returned to the walls to heal ourselves or be healed by our priests. Olympus’ mages and archers had finally gotten close enough to hit us, and not even with Unusual Physique were we tanky enough to endure so many attacks.

I waved my hand. "Awesome. Go speak with Chengfeng and Eve and see how you want to distribute the loot. I don’t need them, so count me out!"

There were mountains of bodies below the walls at this point. The harder Olympus charged, the bigger the price they paid. Still, Titan God had managed to deliver nearly 30k players to the walls with his sacrifice. The cloud ladders began building, and one vice leader mage raised his scepter and yelled, "Get those Magic Crystal Cannons over as soon as possible! Flyers, get onto the walls and take out those turtling cowards!"

Some distance away, Stranger of Three Lifetimes shot me an incredulous look before asking, "Did that fucker just call us turtles!?"

I nodded. "We’ll dispatch the cavalrymen and split their front and rear troops in half. 50k elites from each of our guilds should be enough, right?"

"Yeah. I’ll dispatch 50k Profound Wolf Cavalrymen then!"

"Same here. Let’s go!"

I glanced at Gui Guzi, and he figured out my meaning immediately. He leaped down to the fortress grounds and shouted, "Profound Wolf Cavalry of Ancient Sword, assemble! Follow me to cut down the enemy!"

The iron chains began grinding as the fortress gate was lifted. A seemingly endless stream of cavalrymen led by Famous Generals such as Gui Guzi, Chaos Moon, High Fighting Spirits, Eyes Like Water and more flooded out of it and began cutting a line between the troops that had already arrived at the walls, and the ones who were coming in from the distance. Once the separation was complete, killing the engineers setting up the cloud ladders and the fighters scaling the walls would be as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.

"How should we fight this out, big bro?" Lian Xin asked.

I answered simply, "Attack at will and farm contribution points!"

"Right…"

The mage leaped over the walls once more and hovered about 50 meters above the ground. She then started raining all kinds of spells on the enemy and racked in those contribution points like crazy. Since she was a divine mage, she had nothing to fear from the enemy’s Shock Arrows. Moreover, her ability to float well out of the range of most ground units meant that there was little to nothing they could do against her. Of course, a divine fighter or assassin would be a huge threat, but she had Li Chengfeng and me to protect her. Not even Vienna’s Sorrow himself might be able to find a chance to snipe Lian Xin, not to mention that Lian Xin herself was a divine player.

A couple of White Marsh payloads sailed across the air and crashed in the middle of the enemy troops. Some of them even managed to shatter a couple of catapults at the same time. Whoever made the shots absolutely deserved to be commended for their accuracy.

Li Chengfeng looked at me and said, "It looks like Hero Alliance ain’t going to move their asses until Olympus is completely annihilated. In the meantime, should we attack those legendary Magic Crystal Cannons?"

"Yeah. You take out the ones to the west, and I will take the east…"

"Got it!"

After Pure Love had applied all of her buffs on me, she gave my back a pat and said, "And, done! Go earn them contribution points, dear! I gave you everything, so it’s only right that you give me 25% of your contribution points, right?"

Me: "..."

A snickering Murong Mingyue commented, "What? You gave him everything, Guanyue? If you don’t mind me asking, how many times did he do it with you?"

I interrupted expressionlessly, "Have some shame, miss. I’m leaving now. Don’t slack off, you hear?"

A pair of mini cyclones spun on the floor as I took off to the sky.

Swhoosh!

I left behind a trail of death and devastation as I flew toward the closest Magic Crystal Cannon. It was even bigger than I thought it was close-up. The cannon was 20 meters long and 10 meters wide, and it had a 140-centimeter-diameter muzzle. It looked like a walking pillbox. However, its ammo was so heavy that it only had an effective shooting range of 10 meters. This meant that it was just a useless hunk of metal unless it got within 10 meters of a wall.

I unleashed Burning Blade Slash before landing on the ground.

Boom boom boom!

To my surprise, the triple-hit skill that normally just shredded through everything only deleted 40% of the siege weapon’s shield’s durability. Considering how high my Attack was, its tankiness could only be described as outstanding. No wonder Olympus valued the siege weapon so much. Unfortunately for them, Titan God was not only dead, but knocked out of the war completely. Without their leader, Olympus was no match for Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls at all!

I ran around the siege weapon as a shower of arrows nipped at my heels. At least a thousand players were protecting this Magic Crystal Cannon, so I had to activate profound Armor to protect myself while I chipped away at its HP. Every time my HP fell to 70% or so, I would unleash Thousand Ice Slash to freeze the enemies and life-steal some HP. My attacks never left the siege weapon, and it wasn’t long before the magic crystal shield shattered and exposed the body. The actual cannon only had 10 million HP and was far, far more destructible than the Dragon Cannon. I alone could destroy it before the enemy wore me down!

I executed another Burning Blade Slash before bending my body sideways and activating Heavenly River Transformation. After smashing three magic knights’ Barrier Breaks to the side with the Dihai Shield, the Xuanyuan Sword burst into a giant column of golden light!

"Shit! It’s the SSS Rank Ancient Divine Skill!" The discerning ones recognized the skill immediately.

The next moment, I turned the Magic Crystal Cannon into a pile of shattered wood, steel and purple crystals with the Xuanyuan Slash. Judging from the pained expressions of the Northern Alliance players, I had no doubt that the siege weapon cost a ton to build!

I nodded. "Yeah. There’s no hurry anyway. The Magic Crystal Cannons only have an effective range of 10 meters, so we can ask Beiming and Little Xin to take them out when they roll up to the walls. They won’t be a great threat. Also, the Fortress of the Iron Halberd has great layout and fortifications, so just smashing the walls won’t be enough to topple the fortress."

How the fuck is this guy the second best player, seriously E/N: uhh, changing gear in combat state is probably not possible. Then again, using return scrolls used to be impossible in combat state, but they still do iframe->return scroll strats ☜
