Chapter 149: It Nodded!
Chen Huaiâan had never hated his cancer more than he did right now.
Not only was this damn thing trying to completely take over his body, but it was also stealing his Spiritual Qi?!
The Qi Cyclone Pillâs effects had been almost entirely devoured by the demonic cancer cells.
His brilliant plan to purge the cancer had actually ended up feeding it instead.
âYou really think I donât have a way to deal with you?â
Chen Huaiâanâs expression darkened, a flicker of murderous intent flashing in his eyes.
The moment midnight struck, he was going to use Heavenly Divination to find the perfect countermeasure.
He would ensure thatâ
The sky could no longer blind him.
The earth could no longer bury him.
And this damn cancer would bow down and call him daddy!
With that thought, he grabbed his water cup and took a big gulp to calm himself.
But today, even water refused to obey him.
Instead of going down his throat normally, it rushed into his windpipe, sending him into a violent coughing fit that nearly killed him on the spot.
As he choked, the spilled water flowed along the metal floor seams, making its way toward an old, exposed electrical wire.
SizzleâSnap!
A sharp spark erupted from the wire, and thenâ
Complete electrical failure.
The first to be affected was Containment Room Zero, where Chen Huaiâan was housed.
Since Rooms 1 and 2 shared some of the same circuits, the failure triggered a domino effect, short-circuiting all three containment rooms.
The entire containment system collapsed.
In a matter of seconds, all three rooms were plunged into darkness.
And thenâ
The thick, reinforced metal walls separating Containment Rooms 0, 1, and 2
âŠbegan to slide open.
All of this happened within a few heartbeats.
By the time Chen Huaiâan realized what was happening, his room had already gone pitch black.
The kind of darkness where you couldnât even see your own hand.
ââŠDid I just⊠uh⊠maybe⊠short-circuit the entire electrical system just by drinking water?â
Chen Huaiâan carefully set down his cup, already experiencing firsthand the true horrors of âfortune loss.â
They werenât joking when they said unlucky people could choke on water.
But choking on water and accidentally causing a facility-wide power outage?
That was some next-level bad luck.
ââŠThe Demon Slayer Bureau wonât make me pay for damages, right? I already owe 680,000⊠where the hell am I gonna find more moneyâŠâ
As he sat in the total darkness, filled with bitter regretsâ
Thud.
Thud.
Two heavy footsteps echoed, shaking the floor beneath him.
Chen Huaiâanâs head snapped toward Containment Room 1.
From within the black abyss, two crimson eyes glowed menacingly.
The creature was watching him.
And with each thunderous step, it was moving closer and closer.
âAh, f***.â
Chen Huaiâanâs breath hitched.
ââŠBaby Bear is alive.â
â
Meanwhile, in the monitoring roomâ
âThe power just went out in Containment Room Zero!â
A group of Demon Slayers and researchers stared at the blackened screens showing Rooms 0, 1, and 2, their faces grim.
âIt must be a system failure,â one of them guessed.
Xiang Xiaoyuan, although just as anxious, remained calm.
âAs long as the containment walls remain closed, we shouldnât have a major problem.â
ââŠUh, Captain Xiang?â
A researcher wiped cold sweat from his forehead, his hands trembling.
âT-The containment walls for Rooms 1 and 2⊠they just opened by themselves.â
Xiang Xiaoyuan: ââŠâŠâ
âWHAT?!â
Xiang Xiaoyuanâs expression instantly changed.
âDamn it! This is REALLY bad!â
One of the Demon Slayers nearby groaned in despair.
âYeah, no kidding, Captain. KSC-01âthat giant pink teddy bearâcan punch through several meters of steel walls like theyâre made of paper. Itâs basically the Hulk in plushie form.â
âAnd KSC-02âthat demonic sniper rifleâcan blow a General-rank Demon Slayer to pieces if theyâre not prepared.â
âNow theyâre in the same room together?! Weâre so screwed.â
Fixing the electrical system was easy.
The real problem was going to be separating Baby Bear and the Demonic Sniper Rifle afterward.
If they werenât careful, they were going to lose some people today.
ââŠBring me KSC-67.â
Xiang Xiaoyuan turned to one of the Demon Slayers.
âAlso, make sure to wear your protective eyewear, and find an available Demon Slayer who isnât assigned to any critical missions right now.â
âWait⊠Captain, youâre planning to use KSC-67 to suppress all three containment rooms?â
âNoâŠâ
Xiang Xiaoyuan sighed and shook her head.
âIâm afraid we might need it⊠to stop Containment Room Zero from killing the other two.â
â
KSC-67: âSerene Light Hourglass.â
A relic-class containment artifact, the Serene Light Hourglass was a black wooden hourglass with a crystal funnel and glowing blue sand grains.
Its effects were simpleâ
Any creature that gazed into it would gradually enter a state of deep calm.
Currently, it was effective against all creatures of General-rank and below.
However, it had a major drawback:
The user and the target both experience short-term memory loss.
The more it is used on the same person, the worse the memory loss becomes.
After five uses, the affected personâs memories become chaotic.
After ten uses, it can even cause permanent personality disorder.
Because of this dangerous side effect, the Serene Light Hourglass was only used in absolute emergencies.
Five minutes later, the team carrying KSC-67 arrived at the containment room entrance.
Inside, the darkness remained absolute.
But they could hear the sounds of battle.
The floor trembled.
The walls rattled.
And in between the chaosâ
The piercing gunfire of the Demonic Sniper Rifle.
âTheyâve already started fightingâŠâ
Xiang Xiaoyuan exhaled and gestured toward the electricians.
âGet the lights back on first.â
With a flick of a switchâ
The containment rooms lit up.
And the sight before them made everyone freeze in shock.
Xiang Xiaoyuan, who had already expected disaster, still felt her lips twitch.
Inside Containment Room Zeroâ
The walls were destroyed.
The floor was warped.
The furniture was shredded.
In the center of the wreckage lay a massive pink teddy bear, breathing heavily, its body torn at the seams.
Around its neck was the Demonic Sniper Rifle, its barrel bent into the shape of a bow.
The sniperâs golden eye stared miserably at the ground, its pupil trembling with pure despair.
And sitting cross-legged on Baby Bearâs stomach, shirtless and perfectly composedâ
Chen Huaiâan.
A faint aura of energy swirled around him.
He casually waved at the onlookers.
âYo.â
Then, with a kind, innocent smile, he spoke:
âAll this destruction? Yeah, that was them. Had nothing to do with me.â
âIf youâre looking for someone to pay for damages, go after them.â
He patted Baby Bearâs stomach.
ââŠRight, Baby Bear?â
Baby Bear couldnât respond.
So, Chen Huaiâan grabbed its head and slammed it into the metal floor.
Boom. Boom.
A spring popped out of Baby Bearâs head.
The floor shattered.
Chen Huaiâan looked up with a bright, fatherly smile.
âSee?â
âIt nodded.â
