Anyone could accept the assignment except for Duan Ling Tian!

In the Fire Remuneration Palace, the instant the Fire Remuneration Palace’s elder behind the counter finished speaking, the entire place fell silent.

The Saint Land disciples present on the scene looked at the Fire Remuneration Palace’s elder and then at Duan Ling Tian again. They all looked at each other in confusion and disbelief.

What was going on?

The Enforcement Hall’s elder had directly said he did not want Duan Ling Tian to serve in the Enforcement Hall? Was this not an abuse of his power and authority and an act of bullying?

“This seems a little too much, right?” Many Saint Land disciples complained about the injustice done to Duan Ling Tian when they regained their senses.

“There must be a reason behind this! Don’t you all think it’s strange? Why didn’t the Enforcement Hall’s elder pick on someone else but only Duan Ling Tian?” A Saint Land disciple said.

“It’s indeed strange. It seems like Duan Ling Tian might have offended that Enforcement Hall’s elder. Otherwise, the elder wouldn’t have acted this way!” A Saint Land disciple speculated.

“Duan Ling Tian is really good at seeking trouble. Now, he has even offended an elder in the Enforcement Hall. I’m afraid he won’t have a chance to serve in the Enforcement Hall any more!” Many Saint Land disciples shook their heads as they discussed among themselves.

“However, to a certain extent, that Enforcement Hall’s elder has abused his power by doing this, right? If he doesn’t have a valid reason to ban Duan Ling Tian from serving in the Enforcement Hall, Duan Ling Tian can file a complaint against him in the Enforcement Hall!”

“If I were Duan Ling Tian, I’d definitely go and report him! I won’t let him go so easily!”

“I, on the other hand, think that if that Enforcement Hall’s elder dares to ban Duan Ling Tian publicly, he must have already thought up a reason. It might be pointless even if Duan Ling Tian reports him!”

“I think so too! As an elder of the Enforcement Hall, he would know the rules of our Fire Worship Sect. Under such circumstances, how could he possibly let Duan Ling Tian find a chance to report him?!”

The Fire Remuneration Palace that had fallen silent was filled with noises again.

As the Saint Land disciples were busy discussing among themselves, Duan Ling Tian finally regained his senses. His expression had darkened completely.

It was apparent the Enforcement Hall’s elder was finding fault with him!

Although Duan Ling Tian did not know who the elder from the Enforcement Hall was, his heart was filled with anger that could burn through anything!

“Elder, I wonder which Enforcement Hall’s elder said I can’t accept the assignment that the Enforcement Hall put up for true disciples?” Duan Ling Tian asked as he emphasized the words ‘true disciples’ after taking a deep breath.

“I’m a true disciple so I meet the requirement to accept the assignment from the Enforcement Hall. I wonder on what basis he’s stopping me from accepting the assignment from the Enforcement Hall?” Duan Ling Tian asked in an interrogative tone.

The Fire Remuneration Palace’s elder behind the counter frowned when he heard Duan Ling Tian’s tone. If it was any other elite disciples who dared to interrogate him like this, he would have long blasted that disciple out of the Fire Remuneration Palace!

However, Duan Ling Tian was someone who had defeated a person who was ranked ninth on the True Ranking. He was a true disciple who was much stronger than him! In this world where the strong ones were revered, he could only silently fume to himself.

“Elder, don’t tell me you don’t even know which Enforcement Hall’s elder banned me from accepting the assignment from the Enforcement Hall?!” Duan Ling Tian said in his deep voice as his expression turned grave when he saw the elder from the Fire Remuneration Palace keeping quiet.

Almost as soon as Duan Ling Tian finished speaking, before the elder from the Fire Remuneration Palace had time to reply, a loud voice rang from the Inner Palace of the Fire Remuneration Palace. “How dare you?!”

It instantly attracted the attention of everyone, including Duan Ling Tian.

Soon after, under everyone’s watchful gaze, two young men walked out from the Fire Remuneration Palace’s Inner Palace one after another.

The person who had spoken was the young man walking in the lead. This young man had an ordinary appearance and was wearing the uniform of a Saint Land’s Bronze Flame Elder. As soon as he walked out of the Inner Palace, he looked at Duan Ling Tian coldly.

At the same time, he said coldly, “I’m the one who directly banned you from accepting the assignment from the Enforcement Hall for true disciples. Why? Do you feel dissatisfied?”

Swoosh!

As soon as he finished speaking, every Saint Land disciple in the Fire Remuneration Palace looked at him.

“Elder Dong Lin!” Many Saint Land disciples recognized him when they saw him.

“Elder Dong Lin’s the one who banned Duan Ling Tian from accepting the assignment from the Enforcement Hall! My goodness! The Enforcement Hall’s elder whom Duan Ling Tian had offended is him?”

“Elder Dong Lin is the son of Vice Hall Master Dong in our Fire Worship Sect’s Enforcement Hall. Although he’s only the fifth elder, with his background, even the Silver Flame Elders in the Fire Worship Sect don’t dare to simply offend him, let alone people from the Enforcement Hall!”

“I wonder how Duan Ling Tian offended him. He has already offended Elder Dong Lin, and yet, he still wants to serve in the Enforcement Hall? He’s daydreaming!”

“Although Elder Dong Lin is the only son of the Enforcement Hall’s Vice Hall Master Dong, he shouldn’t have acted so boldly and directly since he’s abusing his power! He must have a valid reason for banning Duan Ling Tian from serving in the Enforcement Hall!”

“This is undoubtedly true! After all, as the only son of Vice Hall Master Dong, Elder Dong Lin also knows the Fire Worship Sect’s rules very well. It’s impossible for him to violate the rules!”

In the Fire Remuneration Palace, the Saint Land disciples whispered among themselves, revealing the identity of the Enforcement Hall’s elder who banned Duan Ling Tian from serving in the Enforcement Hall. Based on their words, they thought Dong Lin had a valid reason for banning Duan Ling Tian.

“Dong Lin? The son of the Enforcement Hall’s Vice Hall Master?” Duan Ling Tian, naturally, heard the whispering of the Saint Land disciple.

Duan Ling Tian’s expression turned even graver as he glared at Dong Lin coldly.

“You’re Elder Dong Lin? May I know how I have offended you?” Duan Ling Tian asked coldly with a dark expression.

“What? Based on your words, it seems like you think I’m intentionally picking on you,” Dong Lin said coldly when he heard Duan Ling Tian’s question. Even if he was looking for trouble with Duan Ling Tian, he would never admit it. Otherwise, he would still be punished by the Enforcement Hall even if his father was the Enforcement Hall’s Vice Hall Master!

“Huh? Isn’t this Senior Brother Chen Peng?” At the same time, many Saint Land disciples shifted their gaze to the other young man standing behind Elder Dong Lin. Many of them recognized him as well.

This young man was as ordinary-looking as Dong Lin. He wore a true disciple’s uniform. At this moment, he was glaring at Duan Ling Tian with killing intent.

“I heard that Senior Brother Chen Peng has a good relationship with Elder Dong Lin. It seems like it’s true,” one Saint Land disciple exclaimed in surprise.

“I remember that Senior Brother Chen Peng is the direct disciple of First Silver Flame Elder Li An in the Black Turtle Sanctum. I think I know why Elder Dong Lin is picking on Duan Ling Tian for seemingly no reason,” another Saint Land disciple chimed in.

“I was wondering how did Duan Ling Tian offend Elder Dong Lin. As it turns out, the person he offended isn’t Elder Dong Lin but Senior Brother Chen Peng!”

“Senior Brother Chen Peng is Elder Li An’s youngest direct disciple. Duan Ling Tian had killed Elder Li An’s grand disciple, Yuan Hong, who was also Senior Brother Chen Peng’s junior nephew. After that, he even indirectly caused the death of Elder Li An’s great direct disciple, Wei He, who was Senior Brother Chen Peng’s Great Senior Brother. Senior Brother Chen Peng must hate Duan Ling Tian with every fiber of his being!”

“It must be because of this he asked Elder Dong Lin to make things difficult for Duan Ling Tian!”

“Everything finally makes sense!”

“However, since Elder Dong Lin is willing to help, he must not be worried Duan Ling Tian will report him for abusing his power. I wonder what kind of reason he came up with to ban Duan Ling Tian from accepting the assignment the Enforcement Hall put up for all true disciples!”

Once the Saint Land disciples in the Fire Remuneration Palace saw Chen Peng, they turned to look at Dong Lin. They wondered what reason he would use to ban Duan Ling Tian from serving in the Enforcement Hall.

After all, by right, Duan Ling Tian was a true disciple. He should be able to accept the assignment from the Enforcement Hall.

However, Dong Lin had meddled in the matter and directly banned Duan Ling Tian from accepting the assignment from the Enforcement Hall.

“Are you saying you’re not intentionally picking on me?” Duan Ling Tian asked with a cold smile as he turned back to look at Dong Lin after looking at Chen Peng.

Duan Ling Tian knew why Dong Lin was looking for trouble with him when he heard the words of the Saint Land disciples in the Fire Remuneration Palace. As it turned out, Chen Peng, the young man standing behind Dong Lin, was the cause of it.

Apart from being a true disciple, Chen Peng was the direct disciple of the Black Turtle Sanctum’s First Silver Flame Elder Li An!

Li An was his mortal enemy! They would not rest until one of them died!

“Of course!” Dong Lin’s smile turned colder when he heard Duan Ling Tian’s words. He said, “The reason I banned you from accepting the assignment from the Enforcement Hall is due to the sanctity of the Enforcement Hall. I don’t want you tarnishing the sanctity of the Enforcement Hall. In fact, in the history of Fire Worship Sect, there’s no precedence of the Enforcement Hall accepting a person who only possesses a yellow Innate Spiritual Root!” Dong Lin spoke confidently. His tone brooked no argument.
