Chapter 617: I Might Have Broke Her

Both Yumiko and Renata were leaning back in their chairs with the same dazed look on their faces.

Their plates were completely licked clean, even the sauce that had been on the plate was gone.

Which was the same case for all the other girls at the table and Renata even wanted to eat the plate as well until I stopped her.

"How was it?" I asked with a smile.

My words jolted the both of them out of their daze and they turned to me, though it was clear that the both of them were still a little out of it.

"Daddy’s food... It’s so good..." Renata mumbled.

Yumiko could only just nod along, probably still not recovered enough to respond verbally.

The other girls got started with the cleaning first since it was evident these two would not be recovering soon and cleared the table for them.

Amber giggled, "Ehehehe~ Good thing you didn’t use your honey for this, Tera. Otherwise, I think they would not be able to recover at all."

Renata suddenly jumped out of her seat, "Ehh?! Daddy could have used your honey?! That’s not fair!! I wanted to taste more of Daddy’s honey!!"

Lea spun around to give the eldritch girl a pointed look, "Rena... Are you aware of where the honey comes from?"

"Hm? Of course? That’s where I got Daddy’s genetic material from! And it’s yummy! I want more of it!"

Ok, to be honest, after seeing how Renata would eat the stuff around her, this now sounds more terrifying than it was lewd.

Like... She might bite off my dick kind of terrifying...

Before I said anything though, I noticed that Yumiko was kind of staring off into space and it looked like the light in her eyes were fading as well.

I would have attributed this to simply because of her reaction after eating my food but since I had already called out to her, she should be recovering instead of slipping back into that state.

Getting a little worried, I decided to call out to her again.

"Yumiko? Hey, Yumiko? Yumiko!"

I had to call her three times before she slowly turned her head back to look at me, only to show that her eyes still looked dull and she didn’t even give me a verbal response.

I frowned and reached across the table to give her shoulder a shake, "Yumiko? Are you alright?"

She stared at me for a moment more before she suddenly broke into a laugh, "Ahahaha! Ahahahaha! Hahahahaha!"

What the?

Girl, you ok? Was the curry too much for you or something? Did I accidentally mix in White Powder in there? No wait, we don’t even have any of that on the ship.

"Yumiko?" I called out to her again.

She finally stopped laughing and turned her gaze back to me again, "Don’t worry Tera... I’m just... Coming to terms with how stupid I have been. I should have known that I was just some nobody comparable to space dust."

"What are you talking about? Are you having some kind of hallucination now or something?"

"Hallucination? No, no... Call it a revelation instead. I was just too stupid and ignorant to realise it until now."

"What are you talking about?"

"Just look at me, Tera... If it was anybody else in my position, they would have thought they had it all. Sure, I got betrayed and all that, but before those betrayals, I was in a really good position. This might sound like bragging but I’m pretty sure that anyone who got into my position the first time I got betrayed probably wouldn’t be able to do what I did and rise up again."

To be honest, yeah. She wasn’t just some random pirate with her crew, she was considered one of the Pirate Lords and that’s a really big deal. She basically took over an entire sector and no one could do anything about it.

She then gestured at herself, "But look at me. Everything was revealed to be nothing but an illusion... And then I meet you... Someone who isn’t even part of the system and yet just sailing through everything."

I blinked at her, "Err... I’m not sure I follow?"

She didn’t respond to my question and just hung her head down to look down at the table.

Mara came over to me, "Did you tell her about your background, Tera?"

I turned to our doctor, "That I came from another universe? Yes? Should I not have?"

"That’s not it. It would explain her current state of mind though."

"What do you mean?"

"Let’s just say that she was already full of doubt on what her entire life’s purpose has been and you telling her about your other universe background probably drove her to think that she might just be a computer program and not someone that is real. Now she believes that all her actions so far have just been pre-programmed or were being controlled by some other being in the simulation. Tasting the food you made must have finally drove her over the edge."

Oh wow... Err... I’m sorry? I didn’t know she was at that stage of mind...

As I started to reach out to her, she suddenly jerked up to stare at me with wide eyes.

"That’s it!!" She cried out before grabbing onto my hand. "You just need to command me instead, Tera! Yes! That’s it!! Why didn’t I think of this sooner?!"

"What?" Was my most obvious response.

She stood up and grabbed my shoulders and at this point, her eyes looked a little bit crazed, "That’s right! Rather than someone I can’t see, someone who I don’t even know whether exist or not... And instead of my own mind that I can’t even trust... I’ll just follow whatever you say instead!! That way, I know I am not subject to some other being outside of our universe! Then my existence is real!"

I... Don’t even understand how she came to such a conclusion...

I looked back at Mara and she pursed her lips and shook her head, which was her way of just telling me that she was leaving it entirely up to me to decide on how to deal with her.

I turned back to look at Yumiko and the woman was still looking up at me with a pleading gaze while her eyes were sparkling.

At just a glance, one might think that she was really excited but then I noticed her tail was tucked in between her legs which showed she was actually really apprehensive at the moment.

If I had to guess, she’s most likely just barely hanging on to her sanity right now and she’s trying to use me as some kind of lodestone to ground herself.

Well... I mean... What do you want me to do?

At this point, Lea came over to my side and tilted her head at Yumiko, "In that case, why don’t you just become Mistress’s slave too?"

Yumiko swivelled to face her, "A slave... Too?"

Lea smiled at her, "Ara? Was it not obvious? I am Mistress’s slave. Mistress owns me."

Yumiko blinked at her for a moment before she got down on her knees, "Yes! Yes please! Please make me your slave as well, Tera... No, Mistress! Please make me your slave! No, wait! I have a better idea, I’ll be your pet! Let me be your pet, Mistress!"

What the heck...

Ries suddenly came bounding in with a look of fury on her face and I thought she was trying to put a stop to Yumiko’s ridiculousness only to see her shove the Inucani onto the ground in a huff.

Yumiko looked up at her in surprise and the Maochatte crossed her arms at her, "Hmph! Who do you think you are trying to be Tera’s pet?! If anyone’s going to be her pet, it’s me!"

... Ries? What the hell are you saying now?

Yumiko wasn’t even deterred by her and just grabbed onto my ankle, "I don’t mind being your second pet, Mistress! Please let me be your pet! I don’t need anything! You can use me, abuse me, do anything you want with me! Just please let me be with you!"

Damn... Where the hell did the Pirate Lord from before go? You were literally facing down an army of people with guns pointed at you without fear. You even crushed someone’s legs for speaking out of turn and now you’re grabbing onto my leg and begging me to make you a pet?

Hmm... If I think about it... She did found out her entire life had been a lie the entire time and the things she had been chasing after were all illusions... Then found out that even she herself might just be some program in the matrix and the universe might not even be real.

I guess having both of these heaped upon her was too much for her to take and she’s now at her mental breaking point.

Ugh... Fine... For her sake, I guess I’ll just play along for now...
