Chapter 1086: Someone Else Needs To Do Their Requests

Ahhhh!! I’m so embarrassed right now!!

Why would Ather even be giving away her sketches like that?!

I mean... I would understand if she was selling one of those paintings that she had painted but these are just sketches that she had done in her sketchbook... I would have thought she would want to keep these to herself instead of sharing them around...

Didn’t she say that she was drawing for herself? So why are these in these people’s hands?

No wait... Oh gods... I think I know what might have happened...

During the duel, she must have spent the entire time sketching me and just drew an entire sketchbook full of pictures of me but she wasn’t happy with some of the sketches so she just tore them out and dumped them somewhere...

And then someone picked it up and realised what those drawings were and they ended up being spread around...

Damn it...

Also... I’m also surprised that I was asked to ’sign’ it. Because last I checked, the idea of autographs was still a foreign concept to people here. Did Emilia already manage to spread that idea around that quickly?

Putting that aside, it still doesn’t change the fact that I’m currently stuck in the middle of all these people right now.

Help...

"Everyone!! Please calm down!! What you’re doing is no better than what that party did when they oppressed us!!" A voice shouted out.

Everyone stopped and turned in the direction of the voice.

I quickly realised that it was that same Guild staff member whom I talked to the last few times I was here.

He continued, "Remember! We are all Guild members here! No one likes to be harassed like that! Please keep yourselves in check!"

The people in front of me looked at each other before all of them started apologising to me in unison.

I waved at them to show that there was no harm done and they quickly returned back to what they were doing before they noticed me, allowing me to go back to what I was doing before.

Despite that, there was no way I wouldn’t notice the fact that everyone was just sneaking glances in my direction from time to time.

Well... Whatever, I’m thankful for that Guild staff for helping me so I’ll save this last baked bun to give to him later.

I went back to inspecting the Request Board now that I didn’t need to deal with a whole bunch of people crowding around me.

Hmm... Let’s see... What Quests are available for D rank... Oh wait no, we’re C rank Mercenaries now. Almost forgot about that.

The C ranked Requests are over here so...

’Wyvern hunt’... ’Dungeon escort’... ’Bodyguard duties’... ’Sexual escort’... ’Caravan escort’...

Most of these Requests except for that ’Sexual escort’ Request involve going outside the city and would at least take a few days for me to complete which, to be honest, isn’t really a problem but I can’t be bothered to do so I’ll be ignoring those.

And yes, you read that right and it’s exactly what you think it is... There’s people who would literally post Requests asking for sex here...

Don’t ask me why, I’m not the one that posts them and I’ve never accepted one of these jobs before...

I continued to inspect the Request board but there was really nothing good until I noticed someone approaching me out of the corner of my eye.

When I turned towards the direction of the figure, I realised it was the Guild staff guy himself who had left the counter to appear in front of me.

"Good day, Miss Aster. I would like to thank you for helping us deal with that party and also apologise for ever doubting you in the first place."

"Ah, there’s no need for that. I kind of understand what kind of mentality you guys might have after having to deal with someone like those women for a long time..."

He bowed, "We still thank you, nevertheless."

I fished out the baked bun and handed it to him, "Anyway, here. As thanks for just now."

"E... Eh? Ah... Umm... Thank you?" He muttered, receiving the bun with a surprised look.

Ignoring that, I continued, "Oh, but wasn’t the Guildmaster depending on them to do something since they were especially strong? Is this alright?"

He hesitated, "That’s why I’m approaching you right now, Miss Aster... I was wondering if you could take some of the Requests that were assigned to them but were either never completed or did not get the chance to be passed to them? Seeing how I believe they have decided to stop being Mercenaries and all..."

Ah... I guess that’s partially my fault since they are now slaves so they can’t be going around doing Requests unless Emilia tells them to... And I know for a fact that she didn’t make them slaves just for them to go back to being Mercenaries...

I made a face at him, "Are they really difficult Requests?"

"Ummm... I won’t lie to you that there are indeed some that are rather difficult where we would need someone competent to deal with... But you don’t have to take all of them. Just some of them would help us greatly."

I turned back to look at Katsuki and she merely nodded her head once very slightly to show that she would be fine with whatever I decide.

"I suppose I could just take a look at what Requests you need help with and I’ll decide after seeing them," I told him.

He perked up, as though he did not expect me to even accept it in the first place.

"That’s... That’s great! Ummm... If you would just follow me?"

He quickly guided both of us to the counter and he took his place behind it before placing several pieces of Request notices in front of me.

"Please take any that you want, Miss Aster. It is ok if you do not wish to do any of them either."

I spread the papers out on the counter to take a better look at them.

There were a few Requests that were relatively easy like handing over a specific number of herbs that I already have an abundance of in my Bangle of Folding so I can just finish those immediately...

Then there were a few Requests that were definitely harder and not at all designed for a low ranked party like this one asking for the completion of a C Ranked Dungeon by themselves...

There’s also some monster subjugation Requests and one of them was a relatively easy one where it was just to deal with a Stone Golem that had been spotted on the fields outside the city.

I should be able to fly there and deal with it with Katsuki before night falls and just complete it alongside the herbs Requests.

As for the rest... I guess they’ll have to find other Mercenaries or Dungeoneers to deal with them.

Also, I noticed that pretty much all these Requests that they had given to the karen group were basically jobs that would make them leave the city for as long as possible for obvious reasons.

Too bad that the karen group either did a really bad job of the Request as shown from the first time we met them... Or they just aren’t interested in completing them.

I picked up those Requests in question and laid them out in front of me, "I’ll help with these then."

Including the herbs collection and a few Mana Crystals collection Requests, there were about six or seven of them that I had indicated interest in doing.

The staff’s eyes immediately widened before he quickly composed himself again, "Certainly Miss Aster! I will assign these Requests to you straight away! Thank you very much!"

He makes it sound as though I just agreed to save the Kingdom or something...

Well, with that done, we only have half a day to do this so I wasted no time in bringing Katsuki out with me past the gates of the city before I started flying in the direction of where the golem was sighted while Katsuki dangled underneath me.

With us being in the air, Katsuki easily spotted the golem and pointed it out to me.

When I flew in the direction she pointed, I found the golem simply standing in the middle of an open field while being surrounded by smaller boulders.

If you had tried to search for this monster on foot, you would probably see the golem and think that the monster was just part of the scenery with the other boulders around.

And there was no need for us to fight it fairly so I just hovered in the air, took my time to charge up a big [Laser] before I fired it at the golem, the beam of light blowing an entire chunk of the monster’s head off before I dove down and finished it off with a kick that took off the rest of its head after I buffed myself.

The golem quickly broke into pieces and the Request was complete.

Then it was just a simple thing of landing beside it, rummaging through the rocks to find the Mana Crystal and the core of the golem as proof of subjugation before I returned back to the city.

The entire trip was done in less than an hour. So easy~

In fact, I spent more time combing through the rocks for the stuff than fighting it. And since I already have the other things in my Bangle, I can just return to the Guild right now~
