Chapter 192: 006: Reunion
An arrogant cold laugh sounded from not far away.
Several apprentices walked over, wearing black cloaks with dark red patterns that were quite eye-catching.
In terms of dress, both the White Witch Council and the Black Tower Alliance usually dressed casually, but when attending formal occasions, there were very strict requirements. For example, now, the White Witch Council members were all wearing white cloaks, while the Black Tower Alliance was uniformly dressed in black cloaks.
âItâs the Black Tower.â
âThese guys are so arrogant!â
There was a murmur of whispers among the apprentices, and everyoneâs eyes focused on the group swaggering over.
Lynch raised his eyes to look at the apprentice who had spoken first at the front of the group.
This was a male apprentice, wearing a high-level apprentice badge. He looked about thirty, with a sullen expression, a thin face, and an overall gloomy demeanor. Just one glance and it was clear that he was no pleasant character.
Lynchâs gaze stayed on the manâs face for a moment, somewhat curious.
For some reason, he felt that this manâs appearance looked somewhat familiar, yet he was sure he hadnât met him beforeâŠ
While Lynch was pondering this, Griss beside him frowned and said, âCaesar HeimâŠâ
Heim?
Upon hearing Grissâs words, Lynch suddenly realized that this guy in front of him looked exactly like that William Heim, whom he had taken care of!
As they approached, Caesar turned to Griss in front of him and said, âGriss, whatâs up? Is your Murphy Family still insisting on choosing the Order Camp? Following rules, doing everything by the book, youâve been living like this for a thousand yearsâarenât you tired of it?â
Griss replied, âItâs better than chaos and disorder, destroying the whole worldâis that what you want?â
Caesar said, âWhen the fruit is ripe, itâs time to harvest. Donât you understand? A thousand years have passed, and the Ancient Ruins have developed well. These resources, if left unused, will eventually be reclaimed by time, just like crops in the fieldâif not harvested when ripe, theyâll end up rotting.â
Griss retorted, âAnd then what? Ruin this land, let rivers of blood flow, let corpses lie all over the placeâwill you be satisfied only when youâve devastated the world completely?â
Caesar nonchalantly said, âThen vote for order again in the next millennium, just like the last one.â
âA thousand years is enough time for these âcropsâ to grow back.â
Griss said coldly, âDonât sound so righteous; the victory a thousand years ago was snatched from bastards like you. If you want chaos, show your skills and stop the nonsense!â
âHeh.â
Caesar sneered, âSo letâs see who people trust more this time, you or us?â
With that, he gestured for Griss to look behind him.
A group of apprentices stood behind him, most of them wearing mid to high-level badges on their chests, and family crests visibly adorned themâclearly, they were purebloods from wizard families.
Griss glanced over, his brow furrowing deeply: âStone family, Creek family⊠Shaman, even youâre on that side!â
His gaze stopped on a young man in his twenties.
The young man stepped forward, exposing an elegant smile: âThe Schwick Family thinks the Heim Family is right. Rather than let crops rot in the field, the correct action should be to harvest when the fruits are ripe. Those confused are genuinely you guys.â
âSo many Black WizardsâŠâ
âQuite a few wizard families are on their sideâŠâ
A murmur of whispers arose around them; the apprentices gathered here were evidently a bit anxious and apprehensive.
Caesar said, âIf kind advice doesnât work, then let us meet on the battlefield.â
Pausing, his gaze fell on Lynch.
He sneered, âAnd you, the lucky little muggle, good luck wonât always be with you. Youâd better stay in the safe zone and not show yourself. Donât let me catch you, or Iâll make you realize what true cruelty means!â
âBut this is only a temporary reprieve; once order collapses, Iâll settle all accounts with you for daring to touch someone from the Heim Family!â
Such hostilityâŠ
Lynch planned to give him a beating before deciding whether to kill him, but before he could act, a cold voice rang out behind him:
âTry touching him and see what happens!â
Orderly footsteps sounded, and a young girl led a group of apprentices in white cloaks over.
She was as beautiful as a mythical angel, her white skin radiating a holy glow, exuding a noble aura. The gloomy sky seemed to brighten with her arrival.
Caesarâs face darkened: âAvery Tavendish! So, the Tavendish Family still hasnât learned its lesson, has it?â
Averyâs voice was cold, full of presence as she said, âWherever you came from, go back there! Speaking an extra word to garbage like you is revolting. You want chaos, do you?â
âThen come on!â
Caesarâs face twisted for a moment but ultimately said nothing more and left with his people.
âMiss Avery!â
âItâs so great to see you!â
The crowd instantly surrounded Avery, giving her a heroâs welcome, and her actions truly deserved the apprenticesâ admiration.
Avery greeted those around her with her usual approachable and friendly smile.
Soon, her gaze swept through the crowd and quickly landed on Lynch not far away.
A flash of joy was evident in her eyes as she walked over this way, her steps noticeably quickening.
Lynch hurriedly went to greet her, âLong time no see, Miss Avery.â
Compared to ten years ago, Averyâs every expression, gesture, and word were unchanged, as if the separation had just happened yesterday.
However, at this moment, upon hearing Lynchâs greeting, her expression froze.
Her eyebrows shot up: âWhat did you call me?â
Lynch was taken aback, confused, âMiss Avery, whatâs wrong?â
It was as if a raging flame had suddenly been doused with a pot of ice-cold water, instantly igniting.
Lynch visibly sensed Averyâs face suddenly turn cold.
âHeh!â
She squinted her eyes, âpolitelyâ and sarcastically said, âLong time no see, Mr. Lynch.â
Alright thenâŠ
Lynch seemed to realize that heâd offended her somehow, but he couldnât help itâthere were so many apprentices, so many eyes watching. It wasnât feasible to rush over for a hug or a passionate kiss, was it?
This⊠Lynch truly couldnât do.
